The CB1100 Community Forum

I went out for a short ride yesterday, and got a few pics of interest. I live on a lake in Western North Carolina, and so snapped these at the base of one of the earthen dams that created the lake about 100 years ago. It's trout season here, so if you look closely, you can see some folk trout fishing in the river. This water comes from depths of about 120 feet in the lake, and so it's very cold, even in August.







Finally, I had to include one dam picture for Suhawk:



It's a little hard to make out, but this is a large earthen dam, with a small power-generating station below it. At the top of that grassy area is a road that crosses over the dam. I've posted many pics of Mt. Mitchell and Grandfather Mt. from on the road up there. Hope you enjoy!

That is beautiful, A-Man. Thank you for sharing. I lived in Tuckaseegee for a year in '74-'75, when I taught at Western Carolina. Love that area. You chose well.

Riding my CB1100EX back from a day out over the Liffey River in Celbridge, Co Kildare. The name Celbridge is derived from the Irish Cill Droichid meaning "Church of bridge" or "Church by the bridge"

The second photo is a shot of the Ha'Penny Bridge taken whilst on my ride with the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride yesterday (charity run). Originally called the Wellington Bridge (after the Dublin-born Duke of Wellington), the name of the bridge was changed to Liffey Bridge after the Irish War of Independence in 1922. The Liffey Bridge remains the bridge's official name to this day, although it is most commonly referred to as the Ha'penny Bridge.
