Around here, they'd call that "frozen custard" or "soft-serve" -- not much difference, but frozen custard has egg yolks in it.
We still have a few days for July's "CB1100s and the Military" topic, but as I will be out of town on the 31st and 1st, I'll mention now that spechg has the honor for August.
There's a thread with a list of previous subjects and the general "rules". I've re-posted that below for spechg's easy reference.
And the rules for the competition:

Bob750 started the list of challenges.
The Rules
The Challenge: A user (the first one will be yours truly) will pick a location, landmark, geographical feature, etc. to serve as the backdrop for your photo. Users will then post photos meeting the requirement in this thread for our ogling pleasure. The first user to submit a qualifying photo chooses the backdrop for the following month's challenge.
The goal: To encourage users to get out and ride and to document those rides with photos and, most of all, to have a little fun with the whole process.
The Rules:
[li]The CB1100 must be the featured bike in the photo. Caption the photo with the date and the location.[/li] [li]Feel free to alter your photo to make it look better, but don't cut and paste into another photo just to qualify.[/li] [li]The photos should be new photos, not something you had on file and especially not something you posted elsewhere in this forum.[/li] [li]You may post multiple qualifying pictures in a month, but the background has to be different (ex. you can post two pictures of your bike in front of a train station, but they have to show two different stations)[/li] [li]Not really a rule, but don't stop trying to get a picture for a particular month just because someone beat you to the first post for that month. We want to see lots of pictures.[/li] [li]The same user cannot pick the photo subject on consecutive months. If the first photo comes from the same user that posted the first photo in the prior month, the second user posting a photo will get to pick the next background subject.
[/li]
Truly, 6 rules are probably 5 too many. Just go with the spirit of this challenge and get out and ride your motorcycle!

And the rules for the competition:
(01-16-2017, 01:30 PM)EmptySea_imp Wrote: [ -> ]The Challenge: A user (the first one will be yours truly) will pick a location, landmark, geographical feature, etc. to serve as the backdrop for your photo.
The Rules:
1. The CB1100 must be the featured bike in the photo. Caption the photo with the date and the location.
2. Feel free to alter your photo to make it look better, but don't cut and paste into another photo just to qualify.
3. The photos should be new photos, not something you had on file and especially not something you posted elsewhere in this forum.
4. You may post multiple qualifying pictures in a month, but the background has to be different (ex. you can post two pictures of your bike in front of a train station, but they have to show two different stations)
5. Not really a rule, but don't stop trying to get a picture for a particular month just because someone beat you to the first post for that month. We want to see lots of pictures.
6. The same user cannot pick the photo subject on consecutive months. If the first photo comes from the same user that posted the first photo in the prior month, the second user posting a photo will get to pick the next background subject.
Truly, 6 rules are probably 5 too many. Just go with the spirit of this challenge and get out and ride your motorcycle!

We still have a few days for July's "CB1100s and the Military" topic, but as I will be out of town on the 31st and 1st, I'll mention now that spechg has the honor for August.
Thanks EmptySea,
After careful consideration...... the topic for August will be your CB1100 in front of any building which is reputed to be haunted! I look forward to seeing the photos and hearing the stories.

Dear all,
inspired by the Monthly Photo Challenge, I took a detour on my way to work this morning to snap a few photos.
The first location of the photos is the Soviet Memorial in Berlin-Tiergarten. The site was built in 1945 in close proximity to the Brandenburg Gate to honor the fallen soldiers of the Red Army. Flanking the entrance to the memorial are two T-34/76 tanks and two ML-20 152mm Gun-Howitzer Artillery Pieces that saw action in the Battle of Berlin. In the back part of the complex there are 2500 war graves. Unfortunately, as you can see, the monument is currently surrounded by a distracting construction fence.
The second motif I captured is the Berlin Victory Column from 1873. The military reference here is, on the one hand, that it is supposed to commemorate Germany's victories against Denmark, Austria and France between 1864 and 1871. On the other hand, 60 gold-plated cannon barrels captured in the three wars were installed in the lower three drums.
Hope you like the photos. If the weather cooperates I will try to take some photos in front of military traces of the US forces in Berlin...
Best regards!

Shoot, I've been so busy travelling for work lately that I forgot that we've got a new topic for July. I thought we were still taking pictures of dogs next to our bikes, but I guess that was June.
Well, better late than never. Here's my military-related photo. It's my tribute to the USS Berkeley. I didn't serve on this ship, but I feel a certain kinship to it.
I handle all of the material and equipment shipping to my company's events, so I hoard pallets. When I run low, I scour the industrial complex around the office, and keep a stack in my warehouse.
A few years ago, while loading a shipment bound for Bowling Green, Kentucky, I grabbed the next pallet in my stack to load it. The pallet looked old and weathered, but otherwise solid and sturdy. As I loaded it, I noticed that "USS BERKELEY 1/17" was stenciled on one side. I was intrigued... turns out USS Berkeley pallets are fairly common, with lots of stories about why they are still in circulation. "1/17" is most likely a pallet group count, as the ship was sold to the Greek Navy in the early nineties.
When the shipment arrived in Kentucky, I used the same pallet to ship some equipment back to my shop for servicing. I decided to memorialize the pallet and kept the stenciled piece, which hangs in my warehouse with the attached dedication that you can read if you click on the PDF icon below the photo.
Yes, I am aware that women didn't serve aboard U.S. destroyers during the time that the Berkeley was commissioned, but for the sake of the ladies working at my company, I decided to cover my butt.
