It's a 2001 in fantastic, 4,000mi. shape. If you're not aware of these bikes, they were the product of the reunification of Germany, with a Yamaha 3YF engine: water cooled, five valve, 660cc single! The engine was used in the excellent previous-gen Tenere that we didn't get here. This one is a sport touring version, and I'm attracted by its super light weight. I've had a "Sport" before so I know what I'm getting into. Anyway, I thought I'd share.

Over the summer I've been working on a new car project so the bike got put on hold for awhile but I'm back on the bike project. I've got an original Kerker pipe I used to make a pattern out of fiberglass,once I get the shape finalized I'm going to find somebody to whip this up then have it chrome plated,head pipes polished.

So today I was oiling the chain and realised there is a kick in the rim when it spins, exactly where the balancing weights are. I have never noticed this before but to be honest I've never looked that closely. The spokes seem tight though and none are broken. Is this something to worry about?

Hello, I'm new to this forum so please correct me if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I just got a new digital speedometer and have wired it up to my 2014 1100 where everything reads correctly except for the speedometer and odometer. The speedometer I purchased is fully digital and came with a new speed sensor. Could it be that I need to install the new speed sensor for this to work instead of using the one that is original to the bike? If so, how do I do that when the new sensor has three wires and the old on only has two?

Yesterday, one of my tech assembled a complex engine using Permatex product that should fully cure within 24 hrs.
He came back to work today, and after 18 hrs sealant is still wet, not even tacky.
We use this company products for decades and never had a single problem with sealing/tacking or anything.
He was totally p'od, as this particular job took him 6 hrs, so we sent him home to relax.

Meantime, I did a test of the same products from four different tubes:
* an old/opened good sealant & unopened, both grey tubes, R-side pics
* the sealant he used & unopened, both black tubes, L-side pics
After couple of hrs, the grey tube sealant was curing satisfactory, unlike the black tube sealant was still wet.
The black tube sealant he used to seal his engine parts still wet after 34 hrs.

Both product have the identical OEM part numbers and bar codes, however the "serial or production numbers" at tubes bottom are different, but I do not think it matters. Both sealant substance is of the identical grey colour.
At this moment there is no more info/Saturday, and we will resume our inquiry on Monday.
I am thinking of some technical glitch, like missing hardener/curing ingredient during production process...counterfeit....or ?????
So if you doing a complex or big jobs with this product, do yourself a tacky test prior to avoid doing it twice and wasting(?) your time.

Trying to figure out why a previous owner stuck at quarter in the space on the right side of the throttle body. Looking at parts fiches and the shop manual doesn't give me a clue what is behind it (or why). Pity the coin doesn't match the bike's year (2014).

Any guesses for a practical reason for having done that?

Looked at the anemic selection of tools that came with the CB. Missing the pin spanner for rear shock adjust (among others). Partzilla has this for $20. Is there an aftermarket wrench that would work? Is there a certain measurement needed for the CB rear shocks?

As the title says, I'm trying to come up with some valid ideas on what to do with the mounting positions of the old handlebar clamps in the triple in the event that I should hypothetically change my controls to clip ons.

Woodcraft makes a really nice set of adjustable side mount clip ons with 3" risers and extra long bars, which i'm considering as a part of a series of modifications to make my CB just a bit more aggressive on the ergos to cope with my riding style. However, I'm at a loss as to what to do with the holes left in the triple by the original handlebar clamps. Is there something useful I can do with this? I'm sure I could just jam a bolt in there or something to fill it but I feel like it's an opportunity to put something cooler in.

If anybody has converted a handlebar to clip ons on any motorcycle in the past and you had a way of dealing with these cavities, Please let me know. I need ideas.
