Has anyone mounted one yet? I just received one and I can't figure out where the rod clamps should bolt to. Anyone, anyone??

Thank you

  I screwed up big time....
Posted by: PowerDubs_imp - 05-09-2022, 09:28 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (72)

...and it was very easy to do.

I was putting my battery back in my bike today- and above the battery is where I have the power commander and autotune as well as a USB from the PCV to the side of the frame and a Battery tender charge cable- so both are accessible from the side of the bike to plug in so I do not need to remove the seat every time I want to read/write autotune files or plug the charger into the bike.

Reason I am telling you that- is I have a lot of cables in the area where the battery goes. The Battery Tender cable is black and the positive end has a red part right at the O-ring connector.

I have the autotune hooked positive into my switched tail light- and used the included O-ring connector that came with the autotune kit to connect the negative to the battery.

Notice the included O-ring has a red end.

Unfortunately today when putting my battery back in the bike- I grabbed the black cable with red end that is the Battery Tender wire- AND the black cable with red end to the auto tune box and put them on my + battery terminal- not realizing my mistake, so I put + to the negative of the autotune box.

As I was tightening the screw- I heard sizzling and then see / smell smoke. Arrgh!

I figured I fried the autotune box- so I uninstalled it- then plugged the PCV into my computer and turned off the autotune option. But the bike won't start, won't even fire a put put- just cranks.

SO- I disconnected the PCV harness and tried again- still won't start.

Could this have fried my ECU? The PCV shows no errors on the software- but the case has a smell. I'm not sure if I should try to pry open the Autotune and PCV to check for burn marks.

  Best suspension mods?
Posted by: gretle_2.0 - 05-08-2022, 08:42 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

Hey guys, I love how the CB1100 drives but I feel like for me it is to soft when taking corners. Any good suspension mods you recommend? I recently installed a super brace and IM thinks rear ohlins shocks and something for the front end like stiffer fork springs?

Much thanks!

During my travels today I identified a rider:

* On a white [2013] Honda CB1100,
* Going westbound on Campbellville Road,
* Just past Millborough Town Line,
* Near Mountsberg, Ontario,
* Today at just around 4:00 pm.

Who are you?

  2014 DLX Accessories
Posted by: kzoorue_imp - 05-08-2022, 05:35 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (12)

Planning to begin to use my bike for more touring. Considering a rear rack and top box along with saddlebag options. I know of the Webike and Samurider sites, both of which have many accessories.

Since my 2014 DLX (USA) is somewhat more rare, wondering about fitment when considering accessories. I believe my bikes complete model no. is CB 1100 SAE.

Does anyone have knowledge/experience/suggestions for me? Thanks!

   Road comet 2 fitment correct??
Posted by: gretle_2.0 - 05-07-2022, 09:13 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (8)

Hello guys, I recent got the road comet 2 and installed following all the correct steps but it seems like the light comes through the top and doesn’t fit up completely perfect? Is this how it’s supposed to look?

New Hipster Lid for the DGR
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 05-06-2022, 03:14 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (13)

Since I'm gearing up for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, I figured I should be wearing something more stylish than my commuter helmets, which are festooned with reflective tape, camera mounts and a rear flashing LED. I did slap a bunch of Gulf stickers on one of them, but I don't want to look like a poser with a helmet covered in stickers when I join up with such a cultured riding group, who would expect no less than a genuine Steve McQueen Signature Gulf lid.

So, I snagged this little beauty, a Biltwell Gringo ECE in a color called Seaweed. On clearance right now at motorcyclegear.com if anyone is interested. I was hesitant, as the head shape is listed as round-oval, and I'm more of an intermediate-oval. However, I got a chance to try one on recently, and it didn't pinch anywhere too tightly.

It's sort of a lime gold color. The quality is not bad, you can see a few tiny ripples in the plastic if you look hard enough, but I have the jaded eye of someone who has done paint and bodywork. No shield, just provisions for various shield types that can snap in place without hinging. I figured I'd just wear sunglasses and get a face full of air, as there are no vents. They do make a version with a hinged shield, but it wasn't on sale, and this will be for occasional use.

To break it in, last night I wore it while I watched a lengthy documentary on the rebuilding of the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Wore it on the ride in this morning, making a few stops on the way. No complaints, it is tight, but I'm sure it will break in a bit. Now at least my head is ready for the DGR.

Speaking of the DGR, I'm just twenty bucks away from earning the commemorative pin set. If anyone wants to donate to my ride, send me a PM. Shy

   New friend for my cb1100rs

I've just added this cb500x to my stable as a general run about and poor weather riding.
There's a few extras fitted, crash bars, centre stand, top box, heated grips but no rlets as yet. Might go down the hand guards route but not sure yet.
