Buddy in Colorado Springs bought this to rip up the pavement on Pike's Peak. Makes total sense! This is not really the future of motorcycles...this is the present!

If you are a fan of low-end torque and don't like to shift, the electric motorcycle is your jam.

  Oops Reverse Polarity
Posted by: GaryRudolph_imp - 04-23-2022, 02:10 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (23)

Well… I wasn’t thinking using a battery tender alligator clips to hookup a power booster to jumpstart the bike and reversed polarity. Now when the ignition turns on nothing happens with a new battery and checked with multimeter. I checked the diode with multimeter and fuses in the fusebox and all are good. Is there another fuse inline somewhere?

  oil quantity strangeness
Posted by: j3gq_imp - 04-23-2022, 07:06 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (20)

Spring's oil change today. Had bought a 4.0 liter drum, and UM says (without oil filter change) one needs 3.8L
Thought that sounds easy enough, but when the swap was done, and the oil level window showing max level ... I had 0.450 L of oil left in the drum ? Upps ? Strange math I thought. Checked the drum, it is not oversized, no promotional extra quart.

Next took a ride. After returning home, and waiting for the engine to cool down, what do I find ? oil level is way beyond the max mark. So much it could even damage (?) the catalytic converters.

Beggin' for help: have you had similar problems ? how does one take 1 quart out without removing the drain screw all the way and getting it all over the floor ? The space around the oil filler cap seems much too tight for even the tiniest hose.

  Real world toolkit use examples
Posted by: capz65_imp - 04-18-2022, 01:30 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

I'd like to hear examples of the under seat toolkit fixing something during a ride and got you and the CB home.
Edit. Examples of how it could get you home also welcome, cause I know there's more than what I can think up.

Found out a Chipotle burrito fits nice and snug in the toolbox. No need to stuff it in the jacket pocket. You're welcome.

  Clutch tips
Posted by: capz65_imp - 04-18-2022, 12:57 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (23)

Came across an article on clutch less shifting. Im reluctant to adopt it completely but here's a related question. Out of habit I pull the clutch in all the way to the bar when shifting. Now I see it's not necessary. So after 2nd, how far do you really have to pull the clutch to shift and avoid damaging the gearbox?

  DLX #221 just changed owners
Posted by: ChiefJP_imp - 04-17-2022, 11:14 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Hi all,

After dreaming of this day since I first laid eyes on the DLX (maybe as far back as 2014) I just took ownership of DLX #221 in Burlingame, CA. It had 3994 miles with some very tasteful upgrades in addition to being in true showroom condition. I happily paid $9k. My wallet is a bit lighter but my heart is much more full. The ride is everything I imagined it to be and more. So smooth. So effortless. Quite possibly the last bike I'll ever feel the need to own.

Wanted to let the forum know for anyone interested in tracking the provenance and market for DLXs.

Thanks!

Usb-c cable direct to battery or switched power
Posted by: capz65_imp - 04-15-2022, 10:34 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

Looked all over and can't seem to find a fused usb-c cable with battery leads or a ready made usb-c cable to a 2 pin connector. I'd like the usb-c male right at my phone mount instead of plugging in a USB to usb-c cable. Anyone have this setup?
