  Future owner (Perhaps) question
Posted by: Zenoster_imp - 10-03-2013, 10:30 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (23)

Hello all,

This is my first post. Ever since I saw the CB1100 on the showroom, I've been obsessed. I own a 2013 BMW f800GT. It's a great bike, but I am having trouble dealing with the handlebar vibes... I've tried all the "remedies". Anyways, I really like the look of the CB and I'm thinking of trading in my F800 for the CB.

I pose these questions because my local dealer does not allow demo rides on new bikes Dodgy I would like to get a feel for how the bike rides in terms of comfort and handlebar, footpeg, etc vibration.

Anyone out there own both?

How do they compare In terms of rideability?

  comments on retro looks
Posted by: Carl Hopkins_imp - 10-03-2013, 10:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (24)

I was about to fire up and pull off from a refuel yesterday.

A guy pulls up, I thought it was a fried until he took his sunglasses off. Anyway he says to me "you would want to sell that old beat up hunk of junk would you"?

I knew what he was thinking after realizing he wasn't who I thought.

He was rather taken by the retro style and said he really thought is was a well kept 750.

Just thought I would share.

Carl

   Dart Flyscreen Has Arrived!

The box from the UK just arrived and everything looks top notch. The plastic is heavy duty and a perfect shade, the hardware is excellent, and the brackets are clearly made just for my bike.

I will install it after dinner and post mote details and photos tomorrow.

CB1100 compared to recent Nighthawk 750
Posted by: keithert_imp - 10-02-2013, 11:12 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

I've been looking at the CB1100 and also the nineties Nighthawk 750. The Nighthawk is appealing because they are cheap and reliable. I rode a friends Nighthawk last night. The 750 had as much power as I would ever need so the 1100 would likely be overkill. What I did not care for about the Nighthawk was the seating position. It felt like I had to really lift my feet to get them on the pegs. Also the riding position felt leaned forward like a sportbike, not like a standard. How does the CB1100 compare in respect to the seating position? I'm looking for the bolt upright riding position that the 80s UJMs usually had. I'm 6 foot tall and don't want to feel cramped. My usual bike is a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. It fits me well but I'm looking for something lighter and quicker.

  Package from Japan arrived today!
Posted by: GIXXERMAN_imp - 10-02-2013, 09:51 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (12)

Got my order from Samurider today. That's some quick shipping, left Japan Monday, arrived in New York Tuesday, delivered to my door in North Carolina today. In the box were a set of Hagofuku mirrors, Hagofuku front and rear fender, and the Hagofuku tail light assembly with tag bracket. Installation was a breeze, I ended up having to cut the tail light wire, couldn't find the end of it anywhere. Next up are black side panels, what ever the silver rail on each rear side of the bike is called in black ( I may have to just get them powder coated), and I asked Mr. T if he could get the headlight bracket that's on the Hagofuku bike. Wont be long and it will be time for a new seat also. I've never tried to load pictures on here so hopefully it works, I know some of you live for pics lol!

  Isle of Man TT

I'm an annual visitor to the IOM, either for the Manx GP (Classic TT) or the TT itself. Six years running now, and I will go every year until I leave this mortal coil. There is simply no greater confluence of sport, people, motorbikes and riding. I dedicated myself to becoming a fully trained IOM TT Marshal, I serve each year, and my post on Bray Hill is the coolest place to watch the action...plus there's a great bunch of folks who are there every year and I now count as friends.

I'm in the TV business, so I've done some filming over there. This link is something I put together using some of the network footage, and my own personal photos and video. I think you'll enjoy it.

I usually bring over a few folks each year now. I have access to a few rooms, rental motorbikes and all the ins and outs of the IOM and TT....happy to help anyone interested in doing a trip from the US.

  CB 1300

I have noticed some previous discussion on the CB1300 on this forum. This was my bike. (If the picture works) Compared to the 1100 it was very different, feels more like a modern bike with 17 inch wheels and wider tyres not as sweet handling and felt heavier. Very well finished typically Honda. Didn't sell well in Australia just like the 1100. Very grunty but the water cooled engine lacks the character of the 1100. In all the 1100 is a sweeter bike IMO.
