Hello all,
This is my first post. Ever since I saw the CB1100 on the showroom, I've been obsessed. I own a 2013 BMW f800GT. It's a great bike, but I am having trouble dealing with the handlebar vibes... I've tried all the "remedies". Anyways, I really like the look of the CB and I'm thinking of trading in my F800 for the CB.
I pose these questions because my local dealer does not allow demo rides on new bikes
I would like to get a feel for how the bike rides in terms of comfort and handlebar, footpeg, etc vibration.
Anyone out there own both?
How do they compare In terms of rideability?

I don't but several Guzzi guys have the 800GT (with a few more thinking about it). That vibration has been brought up with it being a deal breaker for one.
I notice some vibrations as the motor nears 4K but I have not spent much time at speed with it. I do prefer the feel of my Griso's V twin to the inline at speed, but then it's not a bad vibe either. I've never ridden the 800GT. But I figured you could use at least one response, even it was useless.

I can provide another useless respone since I have never owned or ridden an 800GT. The CB does vibrate at high speeds. To be fair this bike was not built for speed. This can be confirmed by the limiter that kicks in between 112-115mph.

Cant help you with the Beemer comparison either, and vibes bother people in different ways. I have had a plethora of inline 4 liter bikes, so I don't feel the vibes on the CB 11 at all, and I have spent quite a few 7 to 9 hour days with many of those hours at 70-80 mph. For me the vibes in the CB are a non issue. They are simply not bothersome. Most find the stock seat uncomfortable after several hours, some before that. The ergos are good for most people while others change bars, risers, footpegs and seat heights to alter the ergos to suit them.

Yeah, this bike's not fast. My great-grandmother decided not to get the CB because it would only go 115 mph!

I find the CB's vibes to be noticeable but not bothersome in the least. It is not as smooth as the Tiger 800 triple, but certainly less vibratory than the BMW F700GS I rented for two weeks at the TT this year. That may be the closest relevant comparison to your point, so my sense is you'd find the CB to be smoother than your GT.

I test rode the BMW R1200R (2007) when switched back to my CB1100, it felt like it ran on electric motor. the CB1100 engine is very smooth, that at 6K RPM, the rear mirror view is clear.
It is smooth enough that I sometime run in 4th gear on hiway w/o realizing it.

This is very encouraging. I'll need to find a dealer that will give me a demo ride.
This would be my first aircooled bike. Hows the heat while waiting in traffic? i'm afraid my pants will touch the engine and catch fire!
I guess the trick would be to turn the engine off until the light turns green...

did you sell your CB yet because of speed issue?
this bike will do 145+ MPH if limiter is removed
I am a grandnie myself and ride like one, frequent on right lane of HWY at 65 MPH where it is most enjoyable, I assume there are a bunch of grandnies got stuck behind me think of me as a grandnie just learn how to ride.

I've ridden the bike in +95 degree temps and didn't feel any more heat than from my other water cooled bikes. That's my take anyway. IMHO, the Goldwing heat bugged me on the hot days as the rad fans would blow hot air in my direction (worse when in standstill traffic).
BTW, I'm 5' 8" and don't have any issues with my jeans touching the engine (and for that matter catching fire).
