I just picked up my silver wheels from the local postoffice,send by Takashi about a week ago.
They look (in my opinion ) so much nicer than the black ones,I will install them late winter and probably go with a 150 rear tire (Avon?)
Hopefully the 2014 model will come with a silver engine,other not to your liking parts can easy be changed .
If they again come with a black engine I might want to think twice about buying an other one,I already sold my 79 CBX to make room in the garage,it is going all the way to Australia.

Im looking at the the Maier gp sport faring for my cb. the price is much more affordable then the bikini faring from japan by about $400.00. Has anyone had any luck with this product?

On British customs I ordered their 41mm fork gaiters. $32 after shipping!

Would it be possible to have a pinned thread to this section with links to vendors? Depending on the computer I'm on, some have bookmarks, some don't. My wife says don't - which makes me think this is a great idea.

Over time it could be organized under general vendors, pipes, seats tank bags, EMT's etc.

One thing to consider at some point is a Best Of thread with links to really good/cool/useful threads so the actual threads can float around but still be easily accessible with out pinning them. We found that to be very useful feature on an astronomy forum I use. It became more useful once the forum was a few years old and had a decent history.

Just added a new seat constructed on the OEM seat pan by LAAM Motorcycle Seats. I am very happy with overall construction and the seating position. I will need to put some more miles on it to determine ridability. The turn around time was fast and Seth the owner talked me through the entire process. The price is reasonable with a limited lifetime warranty.

yet another battle fought. No winners, only pain.
this skirmish, i guess it could be considered an air attack, occurred on the 18th floor… with a view of the city…at sunset. it can only be classified as an ambush.
i was totally out gunned. no contest, i was doomed again from the start . i only went up for one drink…one…and only because i was told that it was a must see! the guy must have been a spy…i should have known better. what could i possibly have been thinking. bucuresti…dinner time…it can only mean one thing. more food. good food. really good food. the kind that you can’t walk away from. please no…stop, i beg you. i had a big lunch.

1 then 2 glenlivets, 2 glasses of vin de casa that were like liter size . my motorcycle could run 30 kilometers on that fuel. i can’t even walk. cheese (and more cheese) and fruit salad, octopus, and that lime creamy something with pistachio nuts…double espresso and i can’t move for $40.00…again.

why am i doing this to myself? my pants are so tight that i can’t breathe. maybe if i fart i will feel better. oh god, i really need to go to the bathroom. man, my stomach is so big, i can’t see anything below my waist. oh cuss, i can’t reach it either! my damn arms got shorter.

this is a typical romanian evening. in fact it is usually accompanied by an entire bottle of wine. it’s like thanksgiving every day. the food here is addictive and its cheap. romanian restaurants should have a warning sign put on the door. something about how eating, like cigarettes, is addictive, could kill you, and can make your unit disappear. or maybe they should take the example of the french and charge too much for small portions.
today, i finally figured out how the people here stay in such good shape. they hate pedestrians in bucuresti. well they don’t hate them, because at one time or another we all become pedestrians, but they don’t do much to accommodate pedestrians. the sidewalks are tiny. crosswalks are miles apart, and romanian drivers…well they drive, like mario andretti…escu. crossing a main street is like playing a game of frogger for your life.
romania is all about personal freedom. and driving has become the ultimate expression of personal freedom. i am free. you are free. i will be friendly and try not to get in your way, and it’s your job to do the same. when i drive, i am going to go, and go fast. i promise not to hit you, if you just stay out of my way. i saw in the newspaper yesterday that a guy got a speeding ticket on the road to constanta this week going 294 kilometers per hour.

i think it must be as a result of living thru generations of dictatorship, and secret police, and everything that we saw on television growing up, but didn’t really believe that it possibly existed. street and sidewalk construction with no barricades, cars parked on the sidewalks, sidewalks five foot wide. handicap ramps? I don’t think so. ‘dude, if you can’t deal with it, get the hell out’. survival of the fittest. i swear these people are descendants of the spartans. and life goes on…quite merrily thank you.

oh yeah, and i thought it was cool that I brought my motorcycle with new york plates over here. these people are totally unimpressed.

drum bun! (romanian greeting meaning good roads…happy trails, bon voyage, etc…)

I decided to try these grips out. Rizoma makes a real nicely made grip. I also went with their most minimal bar ends.

I installed the throttle grip but the "universal" throttle cable guide was too deep and therefore that grip was "sticky". I could have gone on like this and had my own makeshift cruise control, but it pissed me off to much.... So I ripped the inner sleeve from the throttle grip and replaced it with the stock one (had to trim it a bit) and boom, cuss's slick as cuss now


Once i have my clip on bars all controls and grips will go on again without any gap. I am currently using the rubber collar from my old grips to fill the gaps.

want to get rid of that boring exhaust sound on your stock CB and still maintain that classic look without putting on a modern slip on that doesnt even compliment the bike.Install a Voodoo reverse cone megaphone 17 inch shorty with no ecm or o2 changes and sounds like a thousand dollar exhaust.installed in less than two hrs. with very little modifications.One being the center stand stop.Made a stop on the left side with a bracket.Sound quality is much better than the Staintune and saved over 700$.Power difference? who cares, if i wanted a race bike i would have bought a race bike and put a number on the side.Its got the same power if not a few ponys more,but by far the best overall sound i have heard on anything under 500$.

Anyone keep an air temp gauge on the motorcycle? Seems like I kept a cheap plastic one on my last one, and find myself keep looking down for the temp like I do in my car, of course on a motorcycle outside temp is more important as it gets cooler and you need to dress properly....
I did see this on Amazon but seems a little big to mount on the CB gauge area.
