Isle of Man TT - Capo - 10-01-2013

I'm an annual visitor to the IOM, either for the Manx GP (Classic TT) or the TT itself. Six years running now, and I will go every year until I leave this mortal coil. There is simply no greater confluence of sport, people, motorbikes and riding. I dedicated myself to becoming a fully trained IOM TT Marshal, I serve each year, and my post on Bray Hill is the coolest place to watch the action...plus there's a great bunch of folks who are there every year and I now count as friends.

I'm in the TV business, so I've done some filming over there. This link is something I put together using some of the network footage, and my own personal photos and video. I think you'll enjoy it.

I usually bring over a few folks each year now. I have access to a few rooms, rental motorbikes and all the ins and outs of the IOM and TT....happy to help anyone interested in doing a trip from the US.

Here's my little vid:

Uf-dah! I think those guys are crazy. Very little margin for error with some areas having no soft spots to crash into. Damn! Amazing vids of that place though.

What do you know about the speed limit changes that are being proposed at the Isle? My understanding is the EU is promoting a change under "Health and Safety" rules that may end the races.

Any truth to that rumor?

Beautiful. I don't have the cajones to do that, but I'm extremely appreciative that there are men (and women) who love that race, and a community that still welcomes/allows it.

Here in the US, we'd have salivating lawyers just waiting to cash-in on a tragic outcome. Sad, really.

Thanks Capo for compiling that wonderful 8 minute video.

Amazing, this is somewhere in the top 5 on my bucket list. I'm a corner worker at the local track and hope to see the Isle of Man someday!

That pops up every year. But the TT is stronger than ever and the IOM is not going to bend. The IOM is not in the EU, so it would have to be some kind of back door blackmail to end the races. Now, in the future, there may be some public road speed limit reductions here and there around the island, which may not be all that bad an idea, seeing what I've seen riding there.

Hey Capo,

I can't get enough of that event and I have never been, yet, unfortunately the vid won't play here, some crap about copyright.

Any clues on how I can see it!

Ozzy, let me work on it. It's on You Tube, but I may be able to get a link for you from another site. Will report back.
