Hear me out first. My Son lives just South of Salt Lake, recently bought an Enduro. It’s a 300cc Kawasaki, nothing extravagant. I have time off in April, but more likely last half of June.

My idea was to go out, rent an enduro or ‘adventure bike’, starts at $250 a day. Talking to him, he has more gravel roads & trails in mind, even some rural paved roads. We’re not talking sand, mud, or rock climbing.

I did a lot of gravel road riding in the late 70’s with my CB-750, worked fine. With this plan we would also have my enclosed, two stall trailer. Without that, we’d have to drive from Riverton to the trail areas.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea. I was leaning to drive out anyway, stops along the way.

Can the CB handle semi-backcountry Utah? That’s my main question.

Any must do riding areas not to far from Salt Lake? Thanks.

hello.my 2014 cb1100 low oil pressure red light does not light.
ground from switch to gauge checks fine.
i have illumination for both gauges,
does the gauge light and the low op light use the same hot lead?
if not which color wire supplys the power for light.
the ign wire black/brown is my guess

Wondering what the convention is for signatures here on the forum. Is it a resume of bikes currently and once owned, or is the expectation just to list those we currently own.

A friend of mine is an accomplished painter. He must be since it is his sole source of income.

He painted this for my wife recently and we hung it this afternoon. It depicts a road, winding through harvested grass fields and presumably leading to the Black Hills of South Dakota seen in the distance.

Cheryl is fascinated with riding past these giant rolls of grass and the Black Hills are her “happy place”. The painting hangs over the fireplace in our family room where I’m sure we will enjoy it for years to come on days when we’re not able to be out riding.

New to this forum, but delighted to join. I am just taking delivery of my 2010 CB1100 (with 3000km on the clock - yep, no zeros missing = 1800 miles) and am planning to take it down the retro cafe racer route, starting with the (CB750 lookalike) tank from Whitehouse/Samurider, etc.

I have researched this forum, but can't seem to find much on aftermarket exhaust mods for these early models. The headers are in great condition..... so am just seeking a slip-on muffler. I have seen the Arrow comparison video and would be happy with something like that.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or have any recommednations for this, please?

Going to fit a USB charger to my bike but what a palaver. I want to use the 12v ignition circuit supply in the headlight rather than run it to the battery but Honda do not supply a live plug to their blanking auxiliary 12v supply in the headlight casing. Oh no they expect you to but a £137 kit, yes really!
Obviously i can just buy a waterproof plug for £2 odd from amazon but it means cutting the current half a plug off and fitting a new one with around an inch of cable to play with in an awkward place. I will probably have to pull the loom out of the headlight shell to fit the new plug.
In the old days I would have just cut the plug off and twisted the wires together

I would like to lower the rear of my 13 CB1100 maybe 1 1/2 - 2 inches looks like shorter shock would do the job.Anyone done this or have suggestions and parts u used. I only ride one up so not worried about bottoming about. Dont wanna change seat cause my seat to peg height is fine but my 70 year old legs dont grab the ole earth as quick as they used to LOL

i want to add my voice on the challenge between these 2 beauties.

i will be very simple: my opinion is that the BMW, purely product-wise (perceived quality, design, materials, project exclusivity) should really cost half the RRP of the Honda, while in reality it's nearly double in price (at least in the version I had in my test, which was full of options).

BMW is slightly more refined in ride quality, having better wheels, better tyres, less weight, lower center of gravity and a rear mono shock: exactly, SLIGHTLY better, while with all those differences on paper the difference should be like from black and white.

The throttle response is way less precise, rear brake is as non existent as the CB but even in a worse way, forks are awful, engine is way too powerful and behaves too raw for the kind of motorcycle it is (a refined modern classic).
Engine note is non-emotional and looks are "meh".

Best point: front brakes are really really good.

Not to mention the fact that the BMW is a mass-produced motorcycle with scale economies in a lot of components, engine being the biggest one, while the Honda is a standalone project itself without cost cutting as the main voice, and it shows in every single detail; basically, it's like comparing a unicorn with a donkey.


was I too crude? maybe, but I really had high expectations from the BMW and I hated every second I rode the bike, it felt absolutely deceiving.

going back to ride my CB felt like fresh water, and this is all that matters.
