Well, as much as I like my local garage, their fork service price is making me retreat to my mechanical chops. I just can't justify $600 for less than $100 in parts and a couple hours of labor. These look like pretty standard forks. BUT, if anyone has done this service before and ran into anything out of the ordinary, please let me know. Otherwise, I will post my experience. Maybe I will do a tutorial, as I do not see one here. All Balls equipment is arriving soon, and Motul fork oil.

Started riding in 1970 Honda 305 then 350 and then the grand CB750 !
Later got into Harleys and continued until legs made me quit in 2018.
Last October I was out with a buddy and he needed to stop at a canam dealer for a oil filter, I wandered in with him & spotted a flashback to my youth, a gleaming 2013 CB1100 used for sale, I had to sit on it and got to thinking this may work with it being 1/3 lighter than my last harley. At home that nite I researched the CB1100's with finding all great reviews I had my wife drop me at that shop 50 miles away the next day ! Made the deal and headed home with a grin BUT about 10 miles into the ride home I realized my old legs could not take being tucked up under me to get on the pegs, rest of the ride home was spend trying to move around but didnt help, bike was GREAT but I had to make it fit ME if I kept it......
Started searching for forward controls but no way anyone made them for the CB, SO I made it my mission during the course of the winter to make this bike work for me ! Designed & built my forward controls which worked great then decided I needed higher bars so put on some mini apes that really helped ! Then added stretched out highway pegs to really get the legs out on longer rides, last I made a backrest (only ride solo). Then added some saddle bags and sissy bar I made along with some soft bags on that , then a windshield..fits me fine now ! NO its not the naked bike the CB was meant to be but still the same heart & sole and pleases me !

Dealer here in NTX charged $170 to swap out front & rear. Always done my own in the past, but this is the first bike I’ve had long enough, and with pretty enough rims, to worry about scratching.

Looks like next time, I’m going to invest in the equipment to do them myself. Even if it’s not inexpensive, changing 3 pair is pushing $600 after taxes & fees.

When did it become so expensive to lever off tires? I’m afraid to ask how much they’d charge to spin off a filter and pour oil in it.

As some of us our getting into high mileage on our CB's with several of us in the 100,000 mile range, how long do you think a CB engine can go before needing major repair?

The old benchmark for longevity/reliability used to be 100,000 miles (for cars and bikes), but now we are seeing cars and bikes with well over 200,000 miles. My record is 282,350 miles on my 91 Honda Accord and I traded it in with no known mechanical issues (on another Honda Accord)... and I put 110,000 miles on my Honda ST 1300 before a failure with the braking system encouraged me to sell, but there is a guy on the ST forum that just turned over 350,000 miles on his ST 1300.

As I got onto the 303 freeway a few miles from home today driving my 2017 Honda CRV, the sunroof exploded throwing small bits of glass in the air and onto the road. Fortunately, no one was behind me, but imagine following a car when suddenly the sunroof explodes and throws a large mass of small broken glass bits at you. Fortunately (again) the inner shade was pulled (I get enough sun here without it coming through a hole in the roof of my car) so I didn't know what the explosion was until I got home. Just one more thing to watch for on the road.

Do any of you know where I can find one of those for a resonable price? I can't get it through Honda dealers here in Sweden cause they say it's been discontinued. (Buying from within the EU would be the best to avoid the V.A.T-import-tax...)
From what I understand the correct part number should be 08L70-MGC-N40.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mrs. Ferret has been my passenger since 1972. All over the US, Canada and Europe. In fall 2021, after two replacement knees and one replacement hip, she decided she could no longer mount and dismount a regular motorcycle, nor ride long distances. This was the reason I traded my FJR in on the NC 750X. Last October she had the other hip replaced. She's totally bionic now lol.

Well, she has been grousing about not being able to ride, told me to sell her gear etc, which I refused to do, holding out hope she could ride with me again someday. At one time she had a Majesty 400 scooter she liked a lot, but eventually didn't ride it enough to keep it, so we traded it in on our Quad with snow blade. I suggested we go up and look at scooters again. Neither Honda nor Yamaha makes a maxi scooter anymore, but she took a liking to the Honda PCX 150 scooter even though the "tunnel" is not as deep as it was on her Majesty which makes it a little harder for her to mount/dismount. She only intends to take short rides with me on the backroads around our county, at speeds in the 45-55 mph range (the PCX is rated for 70 mph, but I doubt if it will do much over 60).

After an hour's test ride, she decided it would do, and proceeded to make a deal on it. Yesterday we picked it up and brought it home.





Raining today, and grandkids might have baseball games this weekend, so it might be next week before she gets to actually ride it lol. Will be nice to be able to ride with her again.

From its markings it appears to be a 2022 ktm rc390. 900 miles on the clock.

This bike handles ***sharp***. The little single cylinder just purs away all the way up to the rev limiter. At under 400ccs i think it might be faster than my cb1100 according to butt dyno. Will anybody still wanna play with me if i show up in bluefield on this?

Saw it at the local dealer on the way home.
Man, she sure is pretty! The green special edition models are on waiting lists, but the sales manager says he could put me on either of these “base” versions for $20k out the door. Moot point to me.

I've been away from my weekend gig at the Petersen Museum for quite a while due to family commitments and my regular work travel ramping up. But, went back this weekend for the first time in a while, and saw the new motorcycle exhibit, selections from the Barber Collection.

I've always wanted to go to the Barber Museum, so this is a treat to see some of their bikes.
