Over the weekend just past a thread was deleted at the request of the original poster. He had asked that people not respond in a particular way to the subject he was posting about. Of course they did and he was upset by it.

The incident prompts me to say this: while members are entitled to ask that others do not respond to a thread or post in a particular way, there's no guarantee they won't. Neither Ferret nor I will modify or delete posts that don't comply with an OP's request, unless they are offensive in some way. In this context 'offensive' covers the very modest gamut of forum sins.

I know it's a statement of the bleeding obvious, but this is a forum on the internet. It's open to all comers prepared to comply with the very few rules imposed. Unlike many other forums there's no tolerance for rudeness, belligerence or what I believe is called 'flaming'. That said, discussion and respectful disagreement is encouraged because, often, it not only keeps the forum moving along but is also interesting.

So, by all means ask, but be prepared to be ignored. If that isn't going to work for you, maybe consider whether you want to post on that topic?

On the other side of that equation, if you want to ignore an OP's request for a particular kind of response, maybe think about starting another thread taking up the issue in broader terms?

I'll now pop off and don my asbestos suit.

I had the thread open on my PC but went out for the afternoon...came home- saw there was several post- but did not read any of them.

I click to the 1st page first - to start back at the earlier stuff so I didn't miss anything....and it then said the whole thread was gone- so I can't read ANY of it.

I *COMPLETELY* disagree with the deletion of ENTIRE conversations / controlling of narrative that happens here. You might as well burn books you don't like either.

As far as I know- anywhere in the world- you need to be an ADULT to ride a motorcycle- so pull up your big boy pants moderators and deal with reality.

This isn't kindergarten. Stop being nazi control freaks.

  'Factory' high performance spark plugs
Posted by: PowerDubs_imp - 03-18-2023, 07:22 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (17)

Found these plugs- made by NGK and appear to only be sold in Japan.

Just ordered a set.

The pictures- although I only read english- appear to show claimed fuel access to the spark area- and increase in flame propagation once lit.

It also appears they show increased fuel economy and power output.

I'll leave it to others to test MPG- but I will be able to test power on my dyno.

NOTE- that they *look* very similar to these, other than the solid non removable terminal below- but if you look close- these still have the square style as opposed to the D shape-

Some aesthetic changes to my bike
Posted by: RLS_imp - 03-18-2023, 02:56 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

I have a little over 21k miles on the bike and it is stock except for some different mirrors. I am considering changing some things to give her a new look.

New seat cover - Dark brown from Luimoto

Black front and rear fenders - not sure where to find these

New turn signals front an back along with new stop light in back - want LED something smaller than the OEM

A slip on that would put out a little more sound

Other than the seat cover, I am having trouble finding the other parts. Anyone have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

  First Gear Rush Air Jacket
Posted by: pdedse - 03-17-2023, 02:18 PM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (6)

I have had excellent experiences with 3 FirstGear mc jackets, and a very good experience with a pair of FirstGear overall pants. They simply fit me, are very well thought out, keep the elements out...and the one time I've had a failure on a jacket (zipper), they repaired it for free even after it was out of warranty.

Two summers ago I found a FG Rush Air Jacket (a mesh jacket with waterproof liner, armour for elbows, shoulders, back) for summer riding and it was on sale for $100. Purchased from Motorcyclegear.com. I can't believe how good the jacket it is. I wear it for anything above 65 degrees, but it really does well when it's warm to hot. I wear it for commutes, fun rides of a couple of hours, and I'd have to check weather / mountains if for all day. I don't use it for mult-day trips because there's too many elevation changes in Oregon and it can still be cool to cold in the mountains / high desert even in summertime.

Anyway, was just looking at their site and noticed that the same jacket is on sale again for $80!!

If you're looking for a good summer time jacket, I don't think you can go wrong with this. I got the silver one, and it's a lot lighter silver than what the photos show. It's attractive and functional.

Yes...I have stock in FirstGear and Motorcyclegear.com.

Tongue

(that's a joke)
