In my years of riding and reading forums, this one here, the CB1100 forum, is the best, most useful, most entertaining, best laid out, best managed, overall best forum I'v ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. Now that I have a Yamaha V-Star 1300, I am looking for a Yamaha forum, but Holy Mackerel Batman, there does not seem to be such a thing. There are a lot of Yami forums, but they're full of ads, and they want to charge me and share my data if I want an an-free forum. So, do the moderators of this forum also do a Yamaha forum?

Some of you know I run a Meetup riding group here in the Philadelphia suburbs called Montco Riders. We have a few CB1100’s that ride with the group. My DLX of course, my brothers standard and LikeAfox with his standard. But we had a new one join us yesterday. A husband and wife team on their EX! Great people and he expressed interest in attending the rally. Hopefully he can make it.



I also apparently received a message from the Moto Guzzi gods yesterday. It was the first time I was riding the Norge with the group and although I didn’t notice it at the time my friend later pointed out that during lunch the signs were there….

I have come again seeking for help so I can have a better understanding how this beautiful machine works

It has come to my attention some leaking in the oil pan at the left side of my engine and I was just wondering if there's a gasket between the engine and the oil pan, I am not able to see anything in between other than a thin layer of silicone.

What should i do? I'm thinking in removing the whole oil pan then adding some silicone and put it back in my next oil change schedule.

Has anyone experience this before I have attached some pictures so you can have a better idea.

Time to get away...just a day trip, wanting to explore the east side of Mt. Hood.



Took 26 past Hood, then 216 towards Maupin, but turned south on Rerservation Road at Wapinitia towards Warm Springs:

A very enjoyable ride, and nice alternative to staying exclusively on 26 to Madris. After lunch in Madras, headed north on 97 and then east on 293 to Antelope and Fossil.

Very few cars about. Temps in the mid 80s.




After Fossil, whatever trees were around...were no longer.

At Fossil took 19 to Condon, then 206 to Wasco.




Then up to I-84 and fight the strong headwinds back to Gresham. Started around 10am and made it home by 7pm.

Hey! My current Shoei helmet is beginning to feel aged, and I need a back-up helmet for when guests who ride visit. Shoei prices seem to have really increased since I last bought one...and before anyone asks "how much is your brain worth?"...let me answer: around $300-350.

I'm looking at HJC RPHA 90s Solid Helmets

I had a power commander installed but having some issues now took it back to the shop. Response on the throttle changed and i killed the bike at lights like 5 times. I have never killed my bike at a light before in the years i have owned it. Anyone have a map that works great for a 14'? Shop is had it again for a few days so i think they are trying to work with PC. Anyway thought i would ask in the forum. I also added 2 teeth to rear sprocket https://i.imgur.com/seBkTFN.jpg

Hi everyone im new here and looking for some advice. I searched but couldn't really find my answer. I acquired a 2014 cb1100 from my dad and want to do some extensive mods to it. Right now it is 100% stock with exception of a guhl tuned ecu. With what im doing to it i will be needing to change some maps in the tune and possibly turn some things off in it also. Ive done my share of tuning on cars so i have some understanding of how things work. Im having problems finding a software that i can get into the ecu and make the changes i need. From what im seeing the only options are just fuel table changes? I would like to access other parameters like sensors that can be calibrated or turned off. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Last year I was at my local Piagio dealer and saw a white Moto Guzzi Norge and fell in love. I thought it was just a beautiful bike. It wasn’t for sale, it belonged to the owner. So ever since then I’ve kept my eye out and a few have popped up but were either across the country or in Europe or otherwise unobtainable. Then a couple of weeks ago my friend Joe sent me the ad link for one at a dealer in Cincinnati. It looked clean and the price wasn’t bad but it was in Cincinnati. That’s a long way to go to look at a bike, who do I know near Cincinnati? I texted Ferret about it and he said sure, he’d go out and look at it!

So last Tuesday Ferret ran up to Cadre Cycle to not only look at it but test ride it while sending me pics and videos of it running. I couldn’t have found a more qualified person check this bike out for me and I’m extremely grateful for that.




Ferret told me it was really clean and ran great so I jumped on the phone and made a deal with the dealers owner Enzo. Then on Friday I jumped on a plane to Cincinnati.



Ferret and Mrs Ferret were kind enough to pick me up at the airport, drive me to my motel to check in and then take me to experience that most Cincinnatish of foods, Skyline Chili. Where I had my “way” with a 4Way and a Cheese Coney!




The next morning Enzo from Cadre Cycle picked me up at my hotel (did I mention how nice people in Ohio are?) and drove me to meet my new steed. Despite trusting Ferret’s opinion explicitly I took a short test ride to confirm what he had said. Then it was just a matter of writing the check (yes Enzo actually accepted a personal check), signing a few papers and I was off. BTW if you ever get a chance to deal with Cadre Cycle do not hesitate. Enzo is a great guy to deal with.



I rode through Ohio and despite the bikes footpegs being a bit high for me found it to be very comfortable. I didn’t make my first stop for about 250 miles. I took this pic on Rt7 along the Ohio River. A little ways after that Rt7 crosses the river into West Virginia and turns into some nice twisties. That’s where this bike really shined. Very light and maneuverable with plenty of get up and go!

After about 360 miles I ended up south of Pittsburgh at my buddy Gary’s where he put me up for the night and treated me to a nice meal. It was great seeing him even though his kitten mistook me for a giant cat toy.




Then on Sunday I rode another 300 miles home.

It was a fun trip seeing great people and I get to keep this cool momento of the journey!



I can’t thank Ferret and Mrs Ferret enough for their kindness. There’s one thing about this forum you should know if you don’t already. It’s how great and giving the people are!

Hello guys,

I noticed strange knocks on my '13 CB1100 with 64k miles.
They happen when I accelerate from full stop, when I almost release the clutch.
Similar knock happens when I brake intensely with rear brake.
It seems it comes from the hub of the rear wheel, but it also possible that it's from below: gearbox/clutch area, I'm not quite sure.

Any suggestions what it could be and how critical?

I've planned to commute by my bike tomorrow (50mi one way) but now I'm having second thoughts about it.
Will appreciate any help.
