Hello fellow CB1100 riders. I wanted to post about a new horn upgrade I just finished installing. SUPER easy and took only 30 minutes to do the upgrade. I removed the stock two Honda horns that sounded terrible and like a 1963 VW. I purchased the Denali air horn combo and relay from Amazon. I will include the links in the bottom part of this post. Everywhere I looked, I could not find a video that really depicted the actual sound of the horn before I purchased it, so I just took a gamble and bought it. Easy one nut removal of the stock horn bracket, removed the stock horn clips and installed the Denali horn right onto the existing Honda horn bracket and connected up the relay. Tie wrapped the wires to hide the wires better (should have used black tie wraps) and I was done. OMG what a big difference. First day out, I was cut off by a car with someone on their darn cell phone. I hit the horn and sacred the pee out of the driver in the car. Saved my life right then and there. Been away for awhile,a car project hijacked all my free time but now it's time to show my bike some love. I'm going to removing the engine covers to replace them with some new parts. Don't want to beat,pry on anything so what is the best way to get them off without damaging anything? I've thought about using a tap and use one of the mounting bosses as a pusher to get the cover off but at this point that might be a little extreme. My plans are new powder coated covers,new calipers,a horn that will raise the dead,a slip on muffler that will either resemble a KERKER or an old YOSIMURA pipe and custom paint. I really would like to put a fairing on the bike but can't find anything I like. We'll see how this takes off. Oh,a custom fuel programmer.

The "Flying Dragon" style blue one is just a fancy paint job, not anything earth shattering. Back in the '70s, that type of paint job was rare, but now it's a normal process.

Well Folks, age and ongoing health problems have brought me to the conclusion that the smart move at this point in my life is to let go of my beloved 2017 CB1100EX. I knew this day would come, so in preparation I bought a 2019 Honda Monkey that I will use to get my two-wheel fix from time to time. Among other things, I have essential tremor and arthritis in my hands. The Monkey, obviously a lot lighter than the CB and a lot less responsive, is a lot easier for me to handle at this point, as well as greatly reducing the odds of getting myself into trouble.

For as much as I was able to ride it, the CB1100 brought back many fond memories of being glued to the saddle of my 1974 CB750 Four back in the day when I was a young 20 something. I have really enjoyed participating in all the discussions, and exchanges of information here on The Forum. I don't want to completely disappear, but my contributions will be different moving forward. I have listed my bike for sale here on the Forum first, to give Forum members first shot at it because I don't think anyone else really appreciates what a spectacular machine the CB1100 really is.

I went to start my 2014 CB1100 and inserted my key turned key from lock to ON but key would not turn to ignition. I tried to turn over the engine in the on position but my battery is dead. Is there an electrical reason for the key not turning to ignition position?

Any help would be appreciated

Yesterday I took my CB1100EX to a mechanic to adjust the valve clearance.
I asked to verify the condition of the timing chain.
The mechanic claims that the chain is slightly stretched and could be replaced. I have 70,000 km on the clock.

The chain is not loose, but using a little force I am able to pull it down by 2 mm with my fingers.
The mechanic says it shouldn't be possible.
and the chain should be as tight as sheep's balls.
Timing marks are not in the right places... so it means that the chain is slightly stretched.

Unfortunately, the OEM chain available at the dealership is factory clinched. (connected). To replace it, you would have to disassemble the engine and disconnect the crankshaft to replace the cam chain.

This option is out of the question.
I need to find a "disconnected "chain and then change it without disassembling the engine.

Has anyone replaced the timing chain using this method?
I can't find a replacement. Has any managed to buy it?
Do you have any idea about any (not clinched) chain model?

Just out of curiosity is the CB1100 engine in any way related the the CBR 1100 (blackbird) engine? I know one is air cooled and no doubt the Blackbird is water cooled.
