The bugs have become full grown lately in TN. I made it the first few months just fine, but it was time for a change. I don't care for the look as well as my small windshield, but the pain is a lot less severe with the taller windshield.

I hope to receive some suggestions for this problem that has been appearing on my CB 1100 F for a few weeks.
In particular, when hot and only when hot, the engine oil warning light comes on in some conditions.
It comes on when I switch from one gear to another both when upshifting and downshifting, remaining on for a couple of seconds; finally, also when I stop putting the gear into neutral
stays on for a couple of seconds or so and then goes off.
To be safe and fearing that the oil had degraded or carried out an oil and oil filter change with a 20 W50, but the light continues to come on as indicated above.

A couple of days i introducme myself into the forum and I tried to explain a problem i had with my CB1100 13' speedometer.

I have created this Thread in order to help as much as I can if anyone else encounters the same problem.

So the problem I had with my speedometer was a blank screen on the Fuel, ODD and time stamp screen after reconnecting Both terminals to the motorcycle connections.

There was no terminals loose, nor shortcircuit as I used my tester and I was getting continuity and all. I have encounter shortcircuits with previous bikes but it was nothing like I have ever seen before

What I did to try and resolved this:

1) I clean the electric board with a general circuit cleaner and used a soft paint brush to clean all terminas and circuits

2) I let it dry for 15 minutes and then you can use your mom/partner hair dryer to remove moisture from all terminals ( or maybe you have your own hair dryer I dont judge)

3) Reconnect the terminals and wait for the signal.

My problem was: after cleaning and drying the electric board and installing into the motorcycle it was working when turning on the key swicht, after a couple of hours it didnt work again as I was getting the same blank screen with no info whatsoever and both the rev and speed gauges were not working, Im pretty sure my problem was not turning on my bike as i was just leaving it with Pilots on.

My battery ran out of juice doing all this as my headlight was on all the time, so I fully recommend to remove the headlight fuse below the seat to save some battery while doing this.

After I reinstall the gauges and connect everything again I turned on my bike let it warm up for 1 minute, I took her for a ride and after 5 minutes my speedometer worked again, and has worked since then with no issues at all.

It was such a weird issue but once again when it comes to electrical stuff Im not that tech savy.

Im writing this so if anyone come across this issue again and is trying EVERYTHING to have the board working again let me just tell you to have it connected to the bike again and ride a few minutes and it should be working again.

Hi all; today as I pulled away from the parts place (bad timing, I should have just gone back in I guess) I couldn't get my bike to start. Hit the ignition again and it worked just fine. As I rode I started hearing a faint whine and after getting off the bike and sticking my ear all over the place it seems to be coming from the fuel tank, so I suspect it's time for a new fuel pump.

There are other threads on here complaining about the price of the Honda one ($599) so I had two questions:

First:

I'm assuming at that price it comes with the full pump and filter? There is a separate listing for the fuel filter (which is also expensive), and they seem to overlap, so I'm assuming I'd just need the pump part (16700-MGC-N21) and don't need to also buy the filter part?

Second:

Is there anywhere you know of that I can find this cheaper, or an aftermarket pump that fits? I'm really going to be in a major pickle if I have to get an OEM one or can't find it a bit cheaper. Thanks!

Has anyone installed suitable knee pads on a 2017-up model? I bought some cheap ones from amazon that supposedly fit my year, but they are thin and cannot be mounted so that they extend forward far enough to keep my Roadcrafter suit from scratching the paint.

A Google search doesn't turn up anything remotely like a custom fit.

I looked at my 2022 Triumph T120 and it has nice thick knee pads with no logo. Something like that might work.

But I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if anyone has found knee pads that are reasonably thick, look appropriate, and extend far enough forward.

I think someone mentioned this before, but I've caught a CB1100 in the background in more than one video showing Jay Leno's collection.

Was watching a Hagerty documentary about the Chrysler Turbine last night, and caught it again.

Can't find a video or mention of a dedicated review of the bike by Leno after doing about ten seconds of research. He probably has at one point.

Hey guys, I have been using the lower type 2 bars for years but thinking when I can ride again with these injuries the forward seating position isn't gonna work for awhile.

I dont wanna slap the stock bars back on because they're chrome (I hate chrome).

Does anyone know what the factory specs were so I can find an aftermarket handlebar that will work with the stock cables. Wasnf a issue going lower but I dont wanna go too high or too much pull back over stock and end up having an issue with the cables when I turn the handlebars.

Not sure what the stock rise and pullback are on the 2014 ex? If they made the stock bar in black i might just do that to avoid drilling new holes for the inserts in an aftermarket bar.

So, haven’t looked around for a while at new tires for the CB1100. My RP2 on the front is shot and on the rear it still has some wear left. Thinking I’ll just replace both at the same time and also go back to stock size (narrower) on the rear. I was happy with them but their (to my knowledge) discontinued now.

What’s a currently available tire that you’re running and joe do you like them?

I need to get them soon and mounted as a good friend will be riding the CB to the annual Broken Arrow Guzzi Rally with me in July in northern Idaho.

Any feedback and/or advice is appreciated in advance.

The last half mile towards my house is a gentle, flat, bump-less piece of tarmac. For years I am used to accelerating to 45 mph after the last intersection, switch to neutral and role right into my garage without power ... in my car. Speed “on final” has been adjusted to a “perfect” 36 mph passing a traffic sign, all I have to do is push the remote for the garage door. Sometimes I turn the ignition off right after the sign.

Now I tried this a few times on my CB. Guess what, she does not even get close to the garage. Not at 36, not at 40, barely at 45.

How do you explain this taken into account :
- my brake pads and disks show no unusual signs of wear
- gas mileage on the CB is an average 50 and seems good
- my gas consumption in the car is about 25% higher
- gross weight is 5 times the bike
- bike’s tires are good (not new or worn)

Where is this friction on the bike coming from ? Why does it not decrease gas mileage?
