This question may be more applicable to those of you who perform your own valve adjustments, especially if your like me, and not real quick at performing a repair that you have either never performed before, of maybe haven't performed in several years:

My bike has 32,000 miles, and while I have inspected the valve clearances once, they were all in spec, and I have never performed an adjustment. I plan to go to 50,000 miles before I perform my next valve clearance inspection.

The specification for our valve clearances are: Intake = .006 +/- .001, Exhaust = .011 +/- .001. How far out-of-spec are you willing to allow your valves to get before you perform an adjustment? It's a significant amount of work just to inspect the valve clearances on these bikes, but the labor probably triples, or more, if you actually have to remove the cams to perform an adjustment. I'm thinking about letting my valves exceed the maximum tolerance by .001 before I actually perform an adjustment. To clarify, if my intake valve measured .004 (.001 below the minimum recommended clearance of .005) I'll let it go. If it goes to .003, then I will definitely adjust it. What do you think? Am I risking engine damage by allowing the valve clearance to go .001 inch below the recommended minimum clearance? Some members of this forum have stated that they don't plan to ever adjust the valves on their bikes, but I definitely don't support this reasoning.

I have been deliberately adjusting the valves on my Toyota truck .002 tighter than the nominal specification for the past 200,000 miles with no issues, but that's a different story.

What are the different chain options available for our Elevens?

And what about sprockets? I've got a 2014 standard with the 6 speed gear box, and it could be geared a touch faster off the line... It's pretty quick as is, but my understanding is that the 2013 was actually geared a bit quicker.

My current battery on my 2014 is still the factory battery and seems to be going strong but I know I'm probably pushing it on how old it is. Its been sitting on a trickle charger for the last 3 years of my injury anyways other than having friends take it out to keep the fluids and rubbers going. Not sure if that is contributing to its long life so far?

Greetings all. First post here.
Recently picked up a 2014 CB. My second bike after starting on a Trail 125 in 2021. To say it’s a massive upgrade in power and weight is an understatement! But it’s just a beautiful bike and has been a pleasure to ride.
Anyway, my question is an unusual one that I’ve been unable to find any real info on after some forum searching. A previous owner went down the cafe racer road with a number of modifications. One of which included removal of the side garnishes/grab handles/rear turn signal mounts. The real problem is that said owner also took the liberty of cutting off the mounting points that I believe are welded to the frame.
I’ve only been able to piece this info together from photos of bare CB frames I’ve found online, but haven’t found any photos detailed enough to reference for potentially having new mounting points fabricated.
So my ask is could anyone shoot me a few photos and/or measurements of their under seat frame and these mounting points?
Or, if anyone has encountered this situation, a workaround or alternative fix for remounting the garnishes.
I do already have a new set of garnishes and associated bolts/hardware from Partzilla.

I love motorcycles, and I love riding. Like many of you, what first drew me
to bikes was not just the experience of riding, but the feeling that I'd

more than a long ride down the interstate, waving to the members of my
beloved clan. Except when I pass Harley guys. I hate Harley guys. Hate,
hate, hate. When they pass me on the highway, you know what I do? I don't
wave. With their little tassle handlebars and the studded luggage and the
half-helmets-God, they drive me crazy.

You know who else I hate? BMW guys. Oh, I do hate those guys. I don't wave
at them, either. They think they're so great, sitting all upright, with
their 180-degree German engines. God, I hate them. They're almost as bad as
those old bastards on their touring motorcycles. You know what I call those
bikes? \"Two-wheeled couches!\" Get it? Because they're so big. They drive
around like they've got all day. Appreciate the scenery somewhere else,
Grampa, and while you're at it, I'm not waving to you.

Ducati guys-I don't wave at them either. Why don't they spend a little more
money on their bikes? \"You can have it in any color you want, as long as
it's red.\" Aren't you cool! Like they even know what a desmo-whatever
engine is, anyway. Try finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers! I
never, ever wave at those guys.

Suzuki guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at them, either.
They always have those stupid helmets sitting on top of their stupid heads,
and God forbid they should wear any safety gear. They make me so mad.
Sometimes they'll speed by and look over at me and you know what I do? I
don't wave. I just keep on going. Please, don't get me started on Kawasaki
guys. Ninjas? What are you, twelve years old? Team Green my "O Ring". I
never
wave at Kawasaki guys.

I ride a Honda, and I'll only wave at Honda guys, but even then, I'll never
wave at a guy in full leathers. Never, never, never. Yeah, like you're
going to get your knee down on the New York Thruway. Nice crotch, by the
way. Guys in full leathers will never get a wave from me, and by the way,
neither will the guys in two-piece leathers. And I'll tell you who else I'm
not waving at-those guys with the helmets with the loud paintjobs. Four
pounds of paint on a two pound helmet-like I'm going to wave back to that!
I'll also never wave at someone with a mirrored visor. Or helmet stickers.
Or racing gloves. Or hiking boots.

To me, motorcycling is a like a family, a close-knit brotherhood of people
who ride Hondas, wear jeans and a leather jacket (not Vanson) with regular
gloves and a solid-color helmet with a clear visor, no stickers, no racing
gloves and regular boots (not Timberlands). And isn't that what really
makes riding so special?

To Wave or Not to Wave

I am lucky to live on the western slope of Colorado, about an hour from Telluride, 2 hours from Durango and about 2.5 hours from Aspen. Needless to say, riding out here is some of the best on the planet.

Have only have my 2013 CB for about a year and a half, and spent the first half year correcting issues with a rusted gas tank and rusted and unusable fuel pump - which the seller in Orlando never disclosed.

BUT... she runs like a champ now and after 50 years of riding, I can honestly say she's my favorite of all the bikes I've owned and likely the last I'll own. Have customized her with a Dart Marlin flyscreen fairing, dual PIAA superloud horns, LED headlight, hiway pegs, USB charger and soft saddlebags and tank bag. I also have a large GIVI hardshell trunk I can put on for long trips.

Treated myself to an overnight trip to Canon City, 200 miles away, recently. Canon City sits right next to the Royal Gorge, an immensely impressive place. The ride, along 2 lane Hwy 50, was picture perfect and... pics attached.

If anyone is interested in riding in the Rockies next summer, p.m. me.

Has anyone had any personal experience with one of these? I see a used one (somewhat) close by and the price seems good but I've never thought of buying a Royal Enfield. I like the looks it reminds me of a modern interpretation of a 70's era Honda CB650/750.

While at the Gilmore show back in June; Janus had a booth setup with their bikes. I was drawn to the styling & craftsmanship. These are made to order with plenty of options. Oh… pricey too. After some thought and research, put down a deposit. Got a notification that my bike was on the assembly stand. They setup a Google Photo album and pass along updates.
