Protecting the fork tubes from damage is a good thing to do. I am not a fan of the way gaiters look, so I added a set of plastic fork protectors. With weight on the bike, they should provide good protection on the areas of the fork tubes where the seals travel. They have split ring mounts so they clip right on with no disassembly.

Came in just now. Not sure if im feeling up to mounting it tonight yet.

I will post photos when its done. I have the LED micro turn signals en route so if I have to trim for the stock turn signals I will hold off a few days and wait to see how the new turn signals sit with it before I trim.

Just purchased a Suzuki Vstrom 650 last week. It came with all the fruit...bags,top box centrestand and lowering kit for my short legs. Just have to wait for the rain to stop now and give it a good run. Thinking of going as far as Cooktown later in the year.

I have to replace my front tire (original 180/80R18 Dunlop Sportmax D205 tire) on my 2016 CB1100A (see photo) and can't find that particular model online in Canada. Could be obsolete. Someone suggested the Dunlop Sportmax Q3 but it doesn't come in the right size. The Dunlop Roadsmart III does. Anyone have information on which Dunlop tire replaces the original?[attachment=13238]

Sold my CBR300R. Just not up to the mountain carving I bought it for without major front end upgrades. Saw this girl on marketplace and he was willing to do trades for old CB singles. I have had a CB125S pile in my garage for seven years or so housing mice. He wanted $1200 for the RD. Traded the pile plus $500. She's all there and it came with a new set of tires. Should be on the road in a month or so. Blue Smoke!

Hi all. Bit cold but bone dry so seized the moment and went off exploring! Visited a place called Goxhill in Lincolnshire that I used to live in around 1991-95. There is a WW2 airfield there. Quite a bit has changed TBH and nature has reclaimed a lot. I used to walk my dogs all over the airfield (because you could back then), it had the control tower, buildings, hangars, all runways, pill boxes, everything really. The Control Tower was actually bought and moved over to America and is now in a living museum over there. Amazing really. Took a few snaps along the way, hope you like them.

The nest of brambles behind my bike is actually a big pill box, if you look closely you can spot it. It was totally clear last time I was there and you could easily climb inside.

Had a beautiful Spring afternoon and decided to circumnavigate the "World's Smallest Mountain Range", the Sutter Buttes. I know, sounds like Drive thru Tree, Confusion Hill, Meteor Crater...
The Buttes are in the middle of the Sacramento Valley about 45 minutes south of my house. If you look on Google Earth it's the brown lump north of Sacramento in the middle of the green.
Headed south on Aguas Frias Rd. to where it intersects 162, then west towards the Sacramento River.
Here's a shot of that intersection looking south at the Buttes.

Headed south toward Colusa on the eastern, less traveled side of the river. The road passes through Afton, a tiny town with a cemetary, closed general store and a few houses, mostly uninhabited. There are some farmers about living well but with modern transportation the business leaves the town and town dries up.
Wound along the river on and off the levee and crossed at Colusa to top up the tank, then re-crossed and headed east and south on the levee road toward the southwest corner of the Buttes.

Approaching the Buttes came across this old causeway. the Butte Sink is marshy and lowland floods in winter. This long bridge was used to cross this low section. Now when the road floods you have to use Highway 20 just to the south. The causeway has no access and stands like an old ruin.

Heading east on Pass Road I skirted the southern edge of the Buttes. The grass is green and beautiful this time of year, for a bit.

Running out of time, I headed east to pick up some quicker roads home, didn't have time to bird-dog around the east and north of the Buttes but technically did get in a circumnavigation. A perfect spring day, bike ran great, top notch ride. Then 10 minute south of home I caught a bee that ended up in my collar behind my ear, after a wild ricochet. Ouch! Oh well it was worth it!

I've always found my RS fighting lean (needing excessive handlebar pressure to turn, from new) so yesterday I decided to tinker with the static sag (suspension position at rest with fully dressed rider on board, feet on the pegs). I aimed for roughly 1/3 of the suspension travel, a bit more at the front and a bit less on the rear. Wheel travel is said to be 107 mm at the front and 114 mm at the rear, so I should be looking for roughly 35 mm of static sag. I measured in two ways at each wheel for each setting - after collapsing as well as after rebounding (to account for stiction). I also took repeated measurements to account for measuring error on my part. The same numbers came up, so it seems that both I and the suspension behaved consistently.

At the front I found that static sag with factory setting (2 rings showing) was 52 mm. This was way too much and more than the preload could ever compensate for. I anyway decided to increase preload to 1 ring showing. This reduced the static sag to 47 mm. Slightly better but stilll off. I turned to the rear, curious to see if I'd get similar wild figures. With the factory setting (2nd position of 5 possible, 5 being hardest) the static sag was 39 mm. Also too much, but not as dramatic as the front. Increasing the preload to 3rd position reduced the static sag to 34 mm. At this point I had raised the bike 5 mm at both ends. Slightly deflated I decided to leave it at that, since I could not get closer to my target numbers anyway.

Not expecting much I then went for a ride as the weather was quite nice. To my surprise I found the bike slightly more neutral, calling for less handlebar pressure. No dramatic change - I still needed to put in some effort - but better. Logic tells me it was all in my head, but maybe not. Repeated runs gave the same feeling, a clearly nicer bike. Maybe someone can chime in here - what have you found? How does the CB1100 chassis work and what settings do you use?

Guys, I'm currently out of the country and out of reach with my bike, and I found a fuel tank from a 94' CB Seven Fifty, which I would like to swap with my 2014 cb1100 tank. Now, I would like to ask if anyone has nothing better to do or has a stock tank laying around, could take a picture of the bottom and measure the spaces between the front anchors and the rear bolt hole.
Also if you have any idea as to why this swap won't work, I'm listening.

And for rationale, because I know people will ask - I want a bigger tank, with flush tank cap, and I don't want to pay the price of the EX/RS tank. I also want to do a custom color so I'd rather do it on a spare tank that re-do the stock tank.

With your help I 'd like to get a better feeling for how often a tire gets really punctured. You guessed it, without a little poll we won't get a clear picture. So here is how it goes ...

Please take your total mileage on all motorcycles you ever owned, a ruff guess is okay. Divide that number by ten-thousand (10,000). Round it up to the next digit. The resulting number will hopefully be somewhere between 1 and 50.

Now count the number of times you had a flat tire and multiply by 10. Finally divide that last number (flats x 10) by the earlier number (how many times you drove 10000 miles). That's the number you vote for. The final vote will show the average number of flats per 100,000 miles.

Please help, it takes barely half a minute. If your number doesn't fit any of the options, sth went wrong and you have to start over.

Example: you had only 1 flat (= 1*10=10), rode a total of 235,000 miles (=235000/10000 ~ 23), you divide 10 by 23, your number is about 0.5, you vote for "under 1".
