In the State of New York, a law enforcement officer could request the motor vehicle operator to produce proof of insurance ID card, along with their drivers license and vehicle registration, during a traffic stop or accident. Proof of insurance could be presented in a paper or digital form.
Questions:
1. Does your state require you to have proof of insurance?
2. If so, can the proof of insurance be presented in a digital form?

I am particularly interested in these requirements in my neighboring states, Canadian provinces, and our 2021 Rally State, Ohio.

Seeings that I have bought my CB to be my touring bike I was curious to see if anyone has hit really high mileage on their bikes?.

I'm guessing for most the CB is the sunny summer Sunday bike so doesn't clock up big miles (judging by the fact I bought the highest mileage bike I found at 12k miles) but I'm banking on the fact its an under stressed big cc engine and of course a Honda that I'll be able to get a fair few miles out of it.

I was looking at Universal hard bags on Amazon. Found a review from a 2014 cb1100 owner that has them installed, they look good but I wanna know..

1. Did he have to relocate the turn signals
2. How have they held up the past year?

Hoping the gentleman is on this forum, he also has the road comet fairing.

The CB is not my long-distance touring bike (although I have done some 500+ mile days on it), so long tire life is less of a concern for me than for others.

My OEM tires were Bridgestone BT-54. I got 6k miles on them and didn't have a lot of gripes, except for their performance on tar snakes, which resulted in some truly clenched moments, especially in their last thousand miles or so. I have experienced much worse with OEM tires out of the dealership.

My current Metzelers are at 7k miles and won't make it to 8k. I run them at F/36 and R/42. I measured the tread depth and was pleased to see that my front, at 90% worn, was the same from center to edge. I can certainly feel the rear tire getting flattish in the middle but there are no ill effects from it.

If you haven't seen them, Metzeler embosses a little elephant at the very edge of the tread. Try as I might, I have been unable to wear the heads of the elephants off.

My overall word for the Metzelers is "neutral." Once broken in (that didn't take long) they go, stop, and especially turn, in a very neutral way. They feel great with trail braking. Mid-lean performance in fast sweepers is outstanding and changing lines mid-corner is effortless. I think the sidewalls are a bit less stiff than the Bridgestones and that works with the CB's suspension, which can be harsh on sharp bumps.

Anyway, I would highly recommend the Metzeler Z8 Interact unless you are looking for 10k+ tire life. I am getting another set later this month.

Weather was perfect today, about 68F and clear blue skies. Starting to look and feel like spring here; trees are pollenating which means wiping the NC down before heading out. Farmers fields are green with winter rye, sweet onions and wheat, all will be harvested next month and the aroma of onions will be everywhere. Took some dirt roads, most were well graded but a few sandy sections that the NC took in stride. Rode the loop around Lake Lindsey Grace and took a few pics at the boat landing there. Took the long way home, Sparky had a pot of hot coffee waiting for me. Life is good.

While I can't live without the practicality of a Givi Monokey top box for my daily commuting and errand running, my V-40 and V-47 boxes look more like the back end of a car with their fake taillights and frippery.

I wanted to adapt a plain briefcase or something similar to the Monokey mounting plate to give me a box that fit more with the retro style of the CB and my Bonneville. I gave up and ordered an E36 box.

I've been in Florida working for the past two weeks, and am back for a few days to catch up at the office before returning to FL for a few more weeks. The new box was waiting for me, and it did an admirable job of carrying my lunch and paperwork to the shop this morning. It's a lot more basic than my fancier boxes, but for the basics, more asthetically pleasing. I'll put some black reflective tape around the circumfrence and call it good.

Felt great to get back on the CB this morning, even if it's just for a few days before I return to the job site, where I'll be in trucks and on scooters.

Do we have any members that have completed any of the Iron Butt Association challenges? I want to do it on the cb1100 as I'm sure almost noone if any have done it. Those guys are alot of dual sport and adventure bike riders so I'd love to have a certified 24 hour/1000 mile cb1100. If possible keep pushing for the 1500mile/36 hour challenge.

My buddy I tour with alot and I saw a couple enduros with the Iron butt license plates on the way home from a trip 1 last year and decided we would do it. He got to 960 miles on his Victory Octane before he said he would have fell asleep if he went any longer.

Well new owner picked up the CB 500X about 10 mins ago.

I never got comfortable with it. It had enough power if you kept it stirred up, and always made sure you were in the right gear. But that is not my style. Then again it was only a 500 and I'm used to liter bikes which dont care if you shift or not. Ironically the last ride I had on it the other day was the most enjoyable ride I've had on it. I think it was because there was zero traffic and I could keep my speed up on the country curvy roads I ride.

I did enjoy the light weight of it, and it handled well, held a line and transitioned side to side well. But in the end was not a good fit for me, so ....

Now there is room for another bike I am considering once I get a look at one in the flesh, and a test ride, a 2021 Honda NC 750X DCT/ABS. For 2021 they upped the power and torque, lowered the weight, lowered the seat height an inch or so, added led lights, now has ride by wire, self cancelling turn signals, a new flashing brake light on emergency braking, ride modes, new either led or tft instruments, new windshield, and it gets like 70 mpg.

I test rode a 2019 NC 750 X that my son's FIL bought, and I think I could live with it for at least local rides. He had no trouble keeping up on the Men's Fall Trip to North Carolina last year.

Anyone have a recommendation for a license plate/tail light bracket/mount? I've had 3 of the PSR brand in the last 10 mos and they've all snapped. Assume it's a combo of too much weight of the lights/vibration and wind drag.

The bracket I need has a flat mount for the license plate and then 90 degree bends on the edges to mount the lights. Open to other suggestions too, durability being paramount (and black).
