Anyone wax their bike?

I want to get a nice layer on my tank and maybe fork for protection.
I usually just use a quick detailer or spray ceramic for day to day cleaning but I think its time to get a thicker layer in there.
Can I use like a classic turtle paste wax on our bikes? I know the clear coat/paint needs to be protected and thats why you typically don't use car wash soap on a motorcycle.
Any suggestions on a wax that's safe?

Anyone take their road test on their CB1100? I am a relatively confident rider but in NJ it looks like the road test is designed for a tricycle. Tiny course with very tight maneuvers. I'd rather not rent a scooter, but I'd prefer to pass the 1st time.
Thakns,
Tom

Hi Everyone,
I've been reading the forum quite a bit to while I wait for my DMV appointment to register my 2013 CB1100 and have gotten curious. I love older Hondas. CB750F, CB1100F, CB1000C etc. I went with this bike for a few reasons. Price was right. Fuel injection instead of carbs. Modern tech in a retro body. I do love it. While I expect to take good care of it, keep up with maintenance, keep it clean, and change the oil. I wonder how many of you have the this bike because you just want to ride and not worry about it too much. Is it as close to care free and you can get with cycle in your experience?
Thanks,
Tom

Windscreen Options?

What are some of the fairing options for the CB1100? Do they vary by year? Or is there a standard fitment that works for all years?
My new-to-me 2014 came with a "bikini cowl" installed by the previous owner that looked cool, but it served no functional purpose at all and would vibrate at highway speed.
I have a Memphis Shades quick release windscreen on my Shadow 750 that I like. I would like find something similar for the 2014.

Yesterday I returned home from our company's annual drag race in Commerce, Georgia, and rode my CB to the office this morning. On the ride, it dawned on me that this is the second anniversary of my purchasing 2013 #80 from the original owner.
I first answered the Craig's List ad and saw the CB on the day before I took off for this race in 2019, and spent my spare time at the track dreaming about the bike and emailing back and forth with the owner to finalize the details. It's also when I first registered for the forum.
The day I got home, I excitedly went to the bank to get the cash, picked up the bike, and brought it home. I still get excited to ride it, even if it's just to get to work. Seems like I've owned the bike forever. Maybe because 2020 seemed like a lifetime. Or, maybe it's just becuse the guys on this forum are so fun to chat with that it seems like we've known each other forever.

Oil Filter Options

Besides the factory 15410-MFJ-D01, what are some good options for the CB1100?
I wouldn't even start this thread if my local Honda dealer didn't charge $19.99 plus tax for a single Honda oil filter.
Since the CB1100's oil filter is exposed at the front of the engine, a filter with a thicker than average metal canister is probably a good idea.
Also, since the header pipes are immediately in front of the oil filter, there is a physical limit to how long an oil filter can be and still fit.
I did a search and found a lot of oil threads, but nothing that specifically addresses the options when choosing an oil filter.
Thanks in advance for not crucifying the new guy for asking an oil-related question!

I notice on Samurider that there are a huge number of available parts for the 2017+ models and less so for the older 2013/2014 models.
I suspect that with regards to trim and body pieces, a lot of them are interchangeable between a 2013/14 and a 2017 CB1100. I see a few parts that look interesting but don't feel like the gamble on fit with the prospect of having to do an international return. Perhaps a manufacturer of a given part just hasn't validated fit on an older older model now that they are getting up there in age?
For example, there are numerous intake air covers which specifically list compatibility with model years 2017+. That would seem to preclude being able to use them on the older models. Like this one for example.
https://www.samurider.com/?p=29242
Then I ran into this listing for an intake air cover that claims compatibility with everything back to 2010 which just makes it more confusing.
https://www.samurider.com/?p=26191
I searched the forum and found a few discussions on specific parts, but I was wondering if anyone knows what is safe to swap versus what isn't. I imagine engine parts most likely aren't safe, but I can't imagine Honda retooled very much if they didn't have to especially with trim parts. I would be curious to hear other peoples feedback.

How many links in the chain?

So Ive ordered 2 new sprockets from 7th Gear Designs, and looking at getting a nice new chain to go with them..
Did a search on the forum and seems a DID 530 X-ring might be the go...but looking online they come with a differing number of links from 110-120...?
How many links does a 2013 CB1100 have?
Is there a part number or code maybe?
In South Australia... so Im guessing most motorcyle shops stock them?
Any help, recommendations etc greatly appreciated....cheers
