  Low oil level
Posted by: mrded_imp - 03-04-2021, 10:41 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (33)

I bought my CB1100RS '18 with 2000 miles on the clock.
When I got it, it believed to be fully serviced.

Since I bought it, within half a year I noticed the oil level was below the limit. To be honest I wasn't checking it very often, as the bike was relatively new, and I didn't expect to have any problems with oil.

I've checked the bike and parking, no visible marks of oil, so I don't think it was leaking.

I poured half a litter of new oil to get the level back to the mid-limit.

After running the bike for 10 mins, I also noticed the oil colour changed to black.

So I have a few questions:
- How come I lost so much oil after just half a year, and 2k miles?
- Is it normal on CB1100?
- Is the fact I got under the limit, may make any problems?

And in general, I want to know your thoughts regarding this. Thanks.

On the pictures you see:
- Low oil level as I noticed it.
- Ember oil, on cold bike after I poured half a litter.
- Black oil, on warmed bike after 10 mins. (the level somehow got up)

  Updated Honda motorcycles

Updated Honda NC750X, CB1000R, ADV 150 Now Available In The U.S.

"Honda has just announced that it will be spicing up its motorcycle offerings in the U.S. market by launching updated versions of three of its popular bikes. An updated Honda NC750X, CB1000R, and ADV 150 are all inbound soon."

https://www.rideapart.com/news/492070/ho...dv150-usa/

I really like the new NC750X in blue. Seems like a lot of bike for $8199. Add some hand guards and panniers, and it could be a serious bike for touring.

  Goldtop Leather Jacket
Posted by: treedoc_imp - 03-03-2021, 03:55 PM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (22)

Hey fellas, just bought one of these Goldtop 1958 leather jackets from Urbanrider in the UK.

It is 1.4mm leather with a gold satin lining, it is a weighty bit of kit but the leather is really supple and its nice to put on. Feels like you could slide for miles in it...

I read a comment that the collar would flap annoyingly against the helmet, but it doesn't flap at all. I like the classic style, less is more! And you could easily remove the armor and wear it off the bike.

It has two internal pockets as well.

The main issue so far is the bugs show up on it, but at least it is easy to wipe down...

  another tire thread
Posted by: NickLHG_imp - 03-03-2021, 08:38 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (11)

Currently have a set of Pirelli Sport Demon touring tires on my CB and absolutely love them amazing grip even in the rain. Starting to believe I have the wrong size Rear on as overtime it slowly leaks air.
Rear tire spec is 140/70 - 18
Only tires I can find are 140/70 - 18B 67V or 140/70 - 18 67V
Do either of these actually fit on the rear.. if not why? Trying to understand more about tires as I learn more about motorcycles in general.
I know one of the letters has to do with speed rating but thats all.
Only downside do these tires (besides the possibility of being the wrong size) is.. 2500 miles on the rear and its ready for a switch.

If these tires dont work on my wheels feel free to throw some of your suggested tires in as well. Looking for a sticky tire that that goes at least 5000 miles.
thanks guys

  2022 Triumph Bonneville Lineup

The Triumph Bonneville is a motorcycle that comes up frequently in posts, so I thought I would ask the forum members what they think of the 2022 models that you can check out at Cyclenews.com. I think they look really nice, well most of them do anyway.

  LED Flasher Relay
Posted by: hardylt_imp - 03-03-2021, 01:17 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (79)

Apologies if this is a tired question, I'm new here...but I am installing LED turn signals on my 2014 standard and trying to find a good replacement flasher relay that is friendly with our bike. Seems like the dual blinker/running light function of the front signals adds some complication to things (and also makes my resistors very hot very fast...)

From my searches here it's clear there was a good relay made by POSH specifically for the CB1100 (called 090015-WR) recommended by Kmoney and others...but it's discontinued and out of stock. Has anyone had luck with any others? Posh makes this other one (090015-W1) that looks like the first one, but I can't tell if it will function the same...has anyone had luck with that one? https://japan.webike.net/products/24231555.html

Thanks for any help!
