State of motorcycle industry, business, sales today
Posted by: DSD_imp - 03-16-2021, 10:16 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (42)

I have been absent from motorcycles for a few years. Recently I started riding again. I went to a few local dealers to catch back up on the current state of the motorcycle business and found the dealers were almost devoid of bikes but still well supplied with BS. What's going on?

LITHIUM BATTERY UPGRADE: Ballistic vs. Antigravity vs. Shorai
Posted by: E11even_Hunnit - 03-15-2021, 06:16 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (15)

I'm working on a new mudguard design which calls for a minor relocation of the electronics under the seat and-you guessed it-coincidentally result in some weight savings, though not the main objective.

I'm gonna be ditching the stock Yuasa YTZ14S(before it fails me) in favor of a newer, smaller and lighter battery

I'm undecided between:

Ballistic Evo II 8-Cell 100-011

Antigravity AG-801 Lithium Battery

Motorcycle first oil change compare video
Posted by: PowerDubs_imp - 03-14-2021, 04:09 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (3)

Was just talking to my 19 y/o nephew today- he has a new car.

I asked him how many miles he has on it and he guessed about 7-8,000.

Asked if he changed the oil and he said no.... ugh.

  Taller Handlebars
Posted by: DBM_imp - 03-13-2021, 08:48 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

I'm searching for a bar that looks just like stock with 1-2 inches taller grip location. Prefer not to add riser hardware to the clamps. Not had much luck so far.
Question - Does the 2014 STD have lugs in the handlebar switches that fit into holes in the stock bars?

  Tools
Posted by: dave - 03-13-2021, 03:31 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (22)

I am looking for high-quality wrenches that fit the 22mm front axel nut and the 27 mm rear axel nut that can be stored beneath the seat on my 2014 Deluxe. My 1976 Honda CB750F came with a really nice (but low quality) set of tools that had a wrench that slide into a separate handle (extender) that fit the rear axle nut, and can be stored beneath the seat. Can anybody make a recommendation? Thanks.

  Grab bar for 2017+ CB1100RS
Posted by: Endeavour_imp - 03-12-2021, 08:53 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (10)

OEM bar around seat underside on RS has very little space to grab. Not very safe for pillion. Appreciate recommendations - bike and frame is black so don’t want the EX chrome, and not sure if EX parts fit the RS anyway

  Problems with the website
Posted by: Randy B - 03-12-2021, 03:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (17)

Over the past couple of days I have had sporadic issues with getting on the site. It will hang after clicking on the page and then I get a site not responding message stating there is either an issue with the site, or the page has permanently moved.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I have tried to get in on both of my computers and my phone (both on my network and the cell network) all with the same result when the issue is happening.

  Route 66 trip - May/June ‘21
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 03-11-2021, 01:21 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (16)

I’m seriously thinking of taking a Route 66 road trip this year, in May and/or June. I’d start in Chicago and then head west to Santa Monica.
Have any of you done this trip and if so do you have any observations you could share? I keep my bikes in Georgia, so I’d have to ride to Chicago from Atlanta first, and when done I’d ride back to Atlanta from California. I thought about shipping the bike to California, flying out to get it, and riding the route in reverse... but I’m not sure if that’s a smart idea or not. If I ride round trip, I’m thinking the trip would take 30 days, give or take, and would cover somewhere around 5000 miles. If I shipped it, I could save a week but the hassle seems a bit much. If anyone has done this ride, in any fashion, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  Tire Mileage
Posted by: Billie_imp - 03-11-2021, 10:53 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (25)

New to the Honda world with my 2014 CB1100. Loving the bike.

Bike has a little over 4,500 mi on the clock, tread on back pretty good, front getting down there, swapping out tires mainly because they're 8 yrs old, doing it for piece of mind.

I also ride Harleys, normal mileage on a front tire is 18 - 20,000 mi, back on a Dyna you'd get around 9,000, on a touring bike 18,000 give or take.

Going with the Battlax tires, what kind of mileage can I expect out of these?
