  touching up cooling fins
Posted by: The Gecko_imp - 06-07-2023, 02:35 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (15)

All, has anybody had problems with the paint coming off on the top (left or right) cooling fins of the cyl heads ... in little spots ? I think it happens because of little stones or gravel thrown up by cars or trucks’ tires going down the road in front of me. But it could be for another reason altogether, may be not so good a primer, high temps, all of the above ?
Now has anyone found a lasting and ideally invisible way to fix that ?

And since we are “on the fins”, what is the best product to clean them ?

  Two-up on the CB
Posted by: Charlie Bravo_imp - 06-04-2023, 08:02 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (15)

Some years ago, I acquired what I hoped would be the bike my wife could/would ride with me, a Kawi Nomad 1500, Kawi's version of a Road King. I lavished time and money on it and I was looking forward to us getting some two-wheel time. Then she dropped the bomb; "Oh, no, I can't ride a motorcycle with you while my mother is still alive, it would kill her with worry." Well, I wondered, how long is it going to take for dear old mom to slip from this mortal coil? I waited a few years, but, finally decided it wasn't going to happen, so sold the Kawi, went thru a couple of other bikes, then got the CB about 4 years ago. Then, just the other day, the Mrs. says she'd like to finally do some riding with me. "What about your Mom?" "Oh, I just won't tell her." So the gist of it is, I am looking for a two-up machine. I like the CB and all, but it is not a two-up bike. She needs a Barcalounger back there, a big, wide seat, big pegs and a comfy backrest. In other words, a Road King. Harley's are pretty up there in price, even used, so I'm thinking of a Japanese two-up machine. I like the Yamaha V-Star 1100 and the Honda Shadow VT 1100 or a Gold Wing, tho they are pricey, too. I'm going to take her to some dealers so she can sit on the seat and make up her mind.

Anyone using the Kaoko throttle lock on their CB1100? If so, care to share your positives and negative experiences?

  axle / frame sliders
Posted by: dlm1100_imp - 06-02-2023, 12:53 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

I bought a pair of exhaust sliders and a front axle slider from T-REX racing. Just went to install and the exhaust sliders went on easy and look great. Looks like great protection for the sides.

The front wheel doesn't have a hollow axle so I can't put the front through. I guess I should have checked first.

Should I have a hollow front axle for this slider to go through? Any idea where I can get one so the front sliders can be installed?
NEVERMIND... I should have opened and looked at the directions. It comes with a new axle bolt with a hole in it.

  New Duc in the Driveway
Posted by: Phadreus_imp - 06-01-2023, 09:57 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (18)

Hi ya fellas,

Been a minute since I've posted, thought I would share a pic of my new scooter. Still have the CB1100, would have a hard time ever parting with her, but nobody ever said you can't have more than one bike. Just picked up a '22 Duc Multistrada V4S. bike has side Panniers and Top Case, although off for the photo.

Never thought I would get into the "Adventure bike" segment, personally always thought they were a tad on the ugly side. Then I test rode one on a whim and was hooked. Super comfy ergos, loaded with cool tech, handles like a dream, 170hp flat out gets it...lovin' it now. It will be great for longer rides for wifey and me, will reserve the CB for shorter rides by myself.

Any other adv bike riders here?

Cheers!

  Transalp Gets CARB Approval

The Transalp is finally coming to the US market. Perhaps the new Hornet with the same motor will be next. https://www.motorcycle.com/bikes/new-mod...a-44584759
