This question is aimed soley at people who have used Rotella in their CB1100s.

I have used T4 15w40 dino oil with great success in my Nighthawk 750 (inline 4) and Shadow 750 (VTwin).

Honda recommends 10w30 for both of those bikes, but the Vtwin definitely seems to prefer the T4 15w40 over the Honda 10w30, ie, smoother shifts and quieter engine. The Nighthawk doesn't seem to care either way.

The CB1100 is very similar to the Nighthawk. I'm currently using Honda 10w30 in the CB1100, but I'm thinking of going with the 15w40 T6 on my next oil change.

I was initially considering the T4 in the CB1100 too, but according to Shell, the T6 15w40 flows better at cold temps than the T4, and has better shear protection.

I like the idea of a full synthetic in an oil cooled bike.

Since I live in Texas and never ride when the temperature is below freezing, I think the 15w40 should be fine, but I'm curious about the 5w40 too... I'm wondering if there would be any benefit to the 5w40 besides just the increased flow at low temps.

From what I have seen, both the 5w40 and the 15w40 Rotella oils have a weight of around 15 at 200 F, so it probably won't make much of a difference either way... But I seem to recall a thread where people said the 5w40 made the engine a bit noisy.

Anyone with experience who could shed some light on the subject? Thanks in advance!

I’ve been wanting / watching / reading about the various 4-4 for years.

Although I really like the sound and performance of my Arrow 4-1 & Staintune.... I’ve always disliked having a side of the bike with no muffler.

Add in the sound of the 4 cyls each puffing independently and the lure has me dreaming, watching YouTube videos etc every few months of all the 4-4 videos I find.

Personally I like the look of the Moriwaki the best by far. They are the most well fit to the frame and lines, and the quality and welds are unmatched.

That being said- I went with the Pipemasters today for several reasons.

#1- the Moriwaki have small cats in each pipe. For most people that doesn’t matter- and in fact might give a more reserved quality sound without any harshness. But it also may choke off a couple hp and if I can avoid that- well, I will.

#2- centerstand. Yes I need to buy a dlx centerstand but I’m ok with that and would rather have it than not. This is probably a bigger reason that I didn’t go with the Moriwaki than number 1.

#3 - O2 sensors- the Moriwaki like all the others is sized for the stock Honda sensor- but I reached out to Pipemaster and he said not a problem- he put normal sized O2 bungs in. I also contacted Dynojet and they made
me a custom file so I can run the autotune on our bikes with 2 sensors. I need to buy a new autotune kit that is made for the 2 sensors, but it will work now on our ‘dlx’ bikes. I don’t expect much difference- I just like to play. I’m sure the bike would run fine on the same single sensor file I already have.


So yea... not my first choice if Moriwaki had a center stand, no cat option... even if I had to have the bungs welded on myself... but given those things.. I’ll deal with a bit of homemade aftermarket look / fit.

I am changing the thread about getting a DLX, to HELP needed. I am still working on it, hitting the harder stuff to do. When I hit a bump, I will respond with my latest dilemma. Right now I have asked for help on the other post on how to remove the left side cover, and the smaller one on the right side; and have gotten some help from our ever so helpful Forum members. I will take any advice whatsoever because I am attempting task I have never done before.

Has anyone trying fitting a 2013 specific Two Brothers M2 slip-on on a 2014?

I've researched everywhere and couldn't find a detailed answer to this or why there would be a difference between the 2013 and 2014 CB1100.

I have to get new tires for my CB1100DX summer road trip. Did all the research (again) like everyone else on this forum. So ... I am seriously thinking about the Coopers Tire & Rubber Avon Spirit ST. All the research highlights these as hidden gems of the moto world.

Optionally I could select new Bridgestone T-32 which is supposed to be a major improve over the T-31.

For background, here is what I have had before;
1. Original Equipped with Bridgestone BT54 (lasted 5,200 miles).
2. Michelin Pilot Road 3 (lasted 10,500)
3. Michelin Pilot Road 3 (replaced at 7,000 for summer trip; should have kept for after trip).
4. Pirelli Angel GT (lasted 8,500; heavily worn).
5. Bridgestone Battlax T31 (lasted 9,500 miles; front heavily cupped).
6. Michelin Pilot Road 3 (5,000 and still going; will keep for after trip).

Ok, I think I've convinced myself I need to get a windshield due to being exhausted after riding. However, I'm not seeing one the design I'm looking for (looked at Dart/Comet/National Cycle/Puig). I'm about 5'11" and looking for a mid-sized screen with a vertical lip on the top (at least 1" lip). I know they are out there but I cannot find the manufacturer.

*Also, don't want an add-on lip, want it manufacturer with the plastic and would like color options (black/smoke etc ).

I saw a reference to this video elsewhere that said this man is on crack with his tire pressure mumbo jumbo. After watching it though, I kind of feel like he might be smarter about tire pressure than most.

this week's the weather has been whacky. Hot, humid, pop up very isolated rain cells every day

Tried to take out the cb919 standby bike out for a quick spin but found it hard to move in the garage.
Turned out the rear tire was flat, funny because it was brand new, but anyway i had picked up a nail and that had caused a puncture.
Not a bad time to find out about this and i wanted to try the " stop and go " mushroom repair kit, i got it after three tries and it still looks fine today.
Despite the fact that i had played with it before it still took three plugs ( not inside the tire, they just would not go in ) but got it in the end.
Moral of the story; test fixing tires at home on an old tire before going for a ride with the kit, knowing how to get good results.
