After visiting the Barber small bore festival I found myself wanting to actually participate, not just spectate next year. I've found a really nice Honda Cb125 near me in fantastic mechanical condition for only 1000. Does anybody own one of these or similar? Thoughts? What should I look out for?

Help me make the best purchase so I can go put all those groms to shame next year.

I went a ride last week and with hot weather here at last decided to wear one of my caberg flip up helmets with an inner sun visor. All goes well with the top vent opened and outer visor up dark visor down. Plently of air flow and a good ride then disaster strikes.
About a mile from home my eyes started to run and didn't feel right then slight burning started in both eyes and got much worse and very painful. I could hardly open my eyes but just managed to get to the bottom of my drive and leave the bike and staggered up the path barely able to open my eyes and taking helmet off outside rushed inside to see in the mirror both eyes blood red and still burning so flushed them a few times with water and they were ok again in a few hours.
I tried for days to work out what had happened but couldn't so decided it was just one of those mysteries that never gets solved but all was ok now.

However getting ready for next ride put same helmet on and something felt strange, it felt to big so took it off and black dust fell all around me. Most of the inner foam padding under the material had turned to fine dust, maybe helped by the top air vent being open.
I figured this dust is what had got into my eyes on my last ride so mystery solved.
I count myself lucky as it happened near home at low speed and not out in the middle of nowhere.

How old was the caberg helmet ? About 15 years so well past its use by date but when a thing looks new on the outside when do you throw it away.
Problem is I have three more of similar age which I have checked and they seem ok but I think its time to get a new helmet.

Check your helmets guys that foam dust could have had me off on the faster twisty roads I had been on...

Since I'm not riding at the moment while I sort out some health concerns, I figured I would kit out my CB a bit. After meeting LakeWylieJoe and observing his zeal for all things related to 80's Honda nostalgia, I figured I would assemble a complete toolkit for the spacious trunk of the bike.

Honda sells the toolkit piecemeal and it seems that just like McDonalds Monopoly, you can get every piece you need save for one. That missing piece would be a hex wrench of apparently unknown proportions. I say unknown because apparently not one single parts house lists the item number on their fiche even though the part clearly exists on the exploded diagram. What is part number 5 and why are we not allowed to see the details? What is Honda covering up?

Has anyone replaced the dual throttle cables themselves? I noticed this morning the one cover is split entirely and the other feels like it's on the way out too. No issues with the the throttle operation as of yet and the cable itself isn't fraying or anything so I'm not super concerned other than not riding in the rain like this but am thinking of the best way to fix. I assume replacing the cables requires removing the tank, correct? I could take it to the dealership but who knows how much that would cost. Might have to purchase the cable from them even if I try and do it myself because I couldn't find a way to buy them online.

Thoughts?

so, I was extremely fed up with the wind noise of my helmet, an AGV X3000 (great looking helmet, but not that silent; more of a style stunt than a performance oriented product) so i went on Amazon and found those Alpine Motosafe ear plugs: reusable for a virtually infinite amount of times, washable and comfortable, and only 14 euros! I instantly pulled the trigger.

oh my, why didn't i buy those before.. the way they dampen the wind noise is mind blowing, they also damp some of the engine noise level but without the wind you can even clearly hear the air intake and a liiiittle bit of clutch and valves noise.

The traffic, horns and voices are still clearly audible too, even if obviously slightly less.

I bought the "Race" model which provides more dampening, but there's also a "touring" model with slightly less dampening capability, for those who already have for example a more isolating helmet or maybe a windshield.

can't imagine how those feels on a touring machine with a good helmet.. I'm quite sure it would be even more silent than driving in a car.

I can say i 100% recommend to buy you a pair !

This Mini is a 2021 Mini Cooper S built in Oxford England.
When we lived in England my wife had a 1967 Mini (also built in Oxford) hence the name Oxford 2.

I purchased a cheapo "Crosstour" $40 go-pro knockoff and slapped it on to check it out.
