Does anyone know if there is a hugger available for the cb ? The back of the engine was covered in crap, and It was a devil to clean between all fins there ,( is that the voltage regulator/rectifier there ?) If so another good reason for a hugger or alternative to keep it cleaner

Just been reading the clutch lever post and it got me wondering about an old subject which may have been discussed on here or not so here goes..

How many of you change gear without using the clutch ?

I've been doing it for years on the upshifts which is so easy and smooth and sometimes do it on the downshifts if conditions are right but not very often.

I've noticed that my clutch won't fully disengage unless I pull the clutch lever all the way to the handlebar. So, if I'm pulling with two fingers and keeping two on the handlebar, my two fingers on the handlebar don't allow it to be pulled back all the way. This causes the gears to catch at the end of the shift.

I've tried adjusting the pull on the clutch lever, but feel like I'm missing something else to fix this issue.

I was checking my led indicators after a ride yesterday with the four way flashers on and front pair ok and very bright but on checking the rear the left was very dim and the further I walked back it was barely visible so on a closer look found both rear indicators loose and the left had turned slightly downwards but was working fine.
The leds are very dependant on line of sight so although working ok they need to be in the right position.
Simple, I thought the bolts had worked loose but no they are very tight and at the end of their travel so they are designed to be loose in case of getting caught with a foot I guess.
I didn't have time to do anything else but will look again today and maybe install a washer to hold them in place better?

Anyone with these type indicators please check the rear ones as they need to be in the right position to be seen.

Well, the Northern Kentucky Cheese Weasels "Got Rocky Mountain High" in 2020, but a severe and extended family illness pulled me away before I could finish the [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=15761]ride report (maybe I will get back to it at some point).

Thankfully, the illness situation has resolved / stabilized now, and I was able to join the crew for a 2021, 4-man ride in Utah. Here's our ride shirt:

Ok, so here's the Utah load-out on a 12' x 6'5" Big Tex 35SA ramped trailer purchased specifically for this trip. $1400 used in great condition and equipped with a wheeled tongue jack and a spare tire. We checked the play in the bearings, installed Bearing Buddies, and added Pit Bull chocks to the trailer floor. Doors on the F-150 slammed at 6:00 am sharp on "D-Day", Sunday 06 June 2021. Most of our luggage and gear was stowed in the truck bed under a tonneau cover. We had loaded bikes and gear the day before, so all we had to do Sunday morning was hook the trailer to my buddy's truck and roll out.


Some of you may recall my posts in "What did you do with your other bike?" where I gave my CBR250R a [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13663&pid=293914#pid293914]Mad Max makeover, complete with Shinko Trail Master 50/50 tires and belly fairing removal. This will be my Utah ride. It's my only bike now, so "ya ride what ya got".


We took I-71 to Louisville and crossed over into Indiana, picking up I-64 to St. Louis, where we took I-70 across Missouri to Kansas City and on to our overnight in Salina, Kansas.


We stopped at a diner in Wentzville, Missouri (far western outskirts of St. Louis) for a late brunch. That's me on the right in the ferret-inspired HONDA vintage cap, and my son-in-law on the left. I have definitely put on the Covid 15 (or 20)...jeesh! Oh well, that didn't stop me from ordering steak and eggs! The diner was hopping busy and the atmosphere, service, staff, and food were fantastic. We loved everything about it.




Eastern Kansas really surprised us. We were expecting flat cornfields, but what we found were beautiful rolling, grassy pastures for mile after mile. Incredibly attractive landscape with few man-made structures to mar the view. Rider magazine did an [url=https://ridermagazine.com/2019/03/28/bluestem-pastures-exploring-the-flint-hills-of-kansas/]article on riding in the Flint Hills of Kansas...now I'm intrigued.




Sunday night we stayed at an Airbnb house in Salina, which turned out to be located "on the wrong side of the tracks" but was really pleasant with two acres completely fenced in. These Airbnb's are a pretty low-cost way to travel and offer a nice break from the monotony of the chain motels. Word to the wise: bring mosquito repellent!


We ate in downtown Salina, which was very fresh-looking, clean, and vibrant although there were some homeless around. We had a little trouble with restaurants and bars being closed on Sunday night, but we did manage to find a trendy pizza place with a large selection of craft beers (sorry we all forgot to take pics...wiped out after the long day's ride in the truck).

A 2021 Royal Enfield Meteor 350

In short: It is very well built.

This unit was waiting for its owner to pick it up.

I was told Royal Enfield (India) made 1000 Meteor 350s and shipped 600 to North America. This one arrived during the past week and this Ontario province shop acquired three - all sold instantly. This baby went out the door for just around $7000 Cdn, all-in.

These compete directly with the 2021 Honda CB350.

I have found two CB1100s on online. I am very intrigued from pictures and reviews. I have a 2006 ST1300. It's a great bike, but I love a bike you can see through and the CB1100 would allow me to still take my wife.

1. 2013 with 3600 miles in excellent unmolested condition. $5000

2. 2014 DLX with 9600 miles. Added luggage rack, Hondaline top box and Dart flyscreen. It too looks excellent $8500.

All this is from pictures as the 2013 is 6 hours from me and the 2014 is 9 hours away.
I have read on line reviews but I haven't talked to anyone personally that has owned a CB1100 hence this post.

Is the DLX version worth $3000 more than the standard. Do the three accessories add a great deal more to the value?

Why does this port have threaded insert?

Went to bleed the brakes on my CBR250R and one of the cover screws wouldn't budge, even using the proper JIS screwdriver. It started to cam out and displace metal in the screw head.

I decided to get a ball-peen hammer and carefully beat the protruding metal back down into the screw head. This made the screwdriver fit very tightly and I was able to break the screw loose by momentarily turning it clockwise and then counter-/anti-clockwise.

This is the screw after I loosened it:


Looks like there's some galvanic corrosion happening between the screw and the cover, so both will be replaced with new + a small amount of anti-seize compound.

This method was less scary than a drill and a tiny back-out, and saved the master cylinder itself from being damaged.

I've heard of people getting the CB1100 confused with the older CBs, but it had never happened to me... Until today!

Coming out of my local diner after lunch, a couple fellers in work clothes were eyeing up my bike.

The taller of the two says, "Is this your bike?"

I nodded that it was, and then he says, "What year is it? Is that an eighty-one?"

Made my day. Got to stop and talk to a random stranger about Japanese inline fours for ten minutes... Another day in paradise!
