You know there are certain things about motorcycle designs and executions that bother us. With regards to the CB 1100, for some it's the muffler design or size, for others excessive decals or reflectors, for a few the design size or location of tail lights or turn signals, the size of the mirrors, the size of the fenders, the location of the oil cooler, or the fact that the rear tire doesn't fill out the space between swing arm and fender. None of that bothers me much. Here's what I just had to do something about

I hated the look of these " curb feelers". Yes, I know their purpose, to contact the ground before anything else in a curve, to warn me that I have leaned over too far. Who am I kidding? I haven't scraped a peg since 1978. Remember it well, riding my new demo GL1000 naked wing on my way to announce a motocross race. I entered a left hand turn a little too fast, leaned her over hard and scraaaaaape. Hasn't happened since and likely never gonna happen again.

The curb feelers had to go.

Looked on a microfiche and it appeared it was just a chromed 8x32 mm bolt ( no nut) and a collar. Grabbed a 12 mm box end wrench, put it on the nut, a little tug to the left ( counter clockwise when looking head on..lefty loosey) and it broke loose and I unscrewed the assembly. Did same to other side footpeg.

I need to order a set of stays for my CB. Has anyone ordered a set from webike in Japan? Part numbers? Price? Do they fit with stock Honda rear rack?

Has anyone replaced their stock tires yet? Reason I am asking is that I am having a hard time finding anyone who makes both the front and rear tires in the sizes for our bikes. I would like to run a softer compound Metzeler tire, but they only make a front tire in the correct size.

The rear wheel size seems to be the limiting factor. Pirelli is the only manufacturer, besides Bridgestone, that I have found to have a Front/Rear combo. If anyone else has changed tires, let me know what you went with and how you like them. I have always run Metzelers and knew waht I was getting. Kinda in the dark now.

You know how our fuel gauge does the giant dive from the high board and shows only 2 out of 5 bars at approx 80 miles, one bar at around 105 and flashing reserve at about 130..when there is still plenty of fuel left in the tank. I've personally gone as far as 180 miles on a tank. On my recent trip to North Carolina, I usually filled up at approx 140 miles and not once had to put 3 gallons in it.

The other day I filled up my Honda Civic. It's got 20 of those little fuel bars. I drove 50 miles and it is still showing 20 fuel bars. In theory at 50 miles per bar ( if these gauges were linear which we know they are not) then I should be able to drive 1000 miles on a tank of gas. Alas, I cannot. It will go about 400 miles before needing gas again. At some point it too will drop bars faster than usage would indicate.

So which is better, one that drops fuel bars too fast early on like our bikes? Or one that waits and then drops them all of a sudden like my car? I think the better question is, why can't they make one that is somewhat accurate.

Hands up? Who still panics, when they are out riding and get down to one bar?

I did not like my stopping power on my CB1100 so i bought some SBS rear brake pads. The fronts are great. I got the 657HF Ceramic pads. they are a lot better than stock. Part# 17220742 Like I said, they are a lot better! I have a small squeling sound, but I believe IT will work it self out. I am braking them in now. My parts guy said that our back brakes are made that way so we will not lock up the rear end. After all, we have a small rear tire on those bikes! I will keep everyone informed. God Bless..

I know several members have also switched over to lower bars and bar end mirrors and I wonder if anyone else has run into this.
I went with the Daytona bars and had very little of the shimming issues some have noted though I did need to add shim stock on the stock mounts.
The biggest thing I ran into is the internal bar weights would not fit with the bar end mirrors I got from Superstore.
I deleted them and things were ok but I find that after 90 minutes or so of continuous riding the fingers are numb and sort of useless. This weekend I put the weights and stock mirrors back in and did a long test and no discomfort.
This was really disheartening because I think the stock mirrors look off with the lower rise Daytona bars.
It is also a real example of the level of engineering that Honda put into these machines. You never really notice any vibration or buzzing, the fingers just go numb and stop working.
Any have any work arounds or fixes?

I tried this around 6 dollars MOTHERS/MAG AND ALUMINUM POLISH.. to shine up my headers .thought i will share the experience with you guys..as i liked the product very much..
the product has a nice creamy texture.. I used it with an autozone polishing rag. The product was very easy to use, no effort at all..and the bronzing just came off..clean leaving no scratches at all...leaving a mirror like finish.. you can almost see my neighbors' kid squatting next to the bike on the left most header...ps:iphone photo is not very clear..
well i know it would last only for a few miles.. but the polishing is part of the joy of owning her..

I usually end up with one on all my bikes, keeps a lot of crud off the motor, pipes, etc... Nice add-on for not much money and shipping was only 9 bucks.

i purchased an x11 from a friend and it has a 929 rear end..
not really my cup of tea but i can live with it..

now person before him made it like this and has used some bodge on the subframe mounts which looks like maccano.. a little plate of steel with holes in to adjust the height of the rear end, great idea but last hole is way too high i can only just about touch the floor and pillions cannot use the pillion seat, when i remove the maccano and use original mount hole it dosen't sit right as the rider seat has a huge gap between the front of the seat and the tank so not useable.

i was wondering if anyone could tell me what a 929 conversion is? what needs to be changed to so it, i can tell about an inch has been cut off rear subframe but wanted to know how much id have to change to put it back to standard
