So in my over-zealous scouring of everything I want to buy when I get home I decided to start looking into leather jackets/gloves. I think I found the jacket I want based on a recommendation from a friend:
http://www.schottnyc.com/products/lifestyle/motorcycle

Now I need some gloves that match and more importantly are functional gloves going along with the cafe racer theme. Here is a pair I found that look decent, but I'm still not too sure about them:

Anyone have any other ideas/comments?

  K&H vintage leather

This was totally worth the wait (4 weeks). It's the K&H Low Double Tuck Roll B2 done in all brown. The craftsmanship is outstanding. Got it from Samurider: http://www.samurider.com/?p=13120/#itemImage

hi guys,

i am going to ship my cb to europe next month.
i am planning to ride around europe for about four months total over the next two years. the shipping company tells me that i need to remove all of the fluids.
i am not that technically savvy. is this a big deal? i am shipping it to romania to start the ride, and i don't know what kind of support that i can expect. i would like to try it here before i get across the pond.
thanks for any help that you can give.

  It Must Be Selling Well
Posted by: The Spaceman_imp - 07-30-2013, 08:40 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (16)

One obvious advantage to us if Honda sells lots of CBs is we get a strong aftermarket. In this month's Motorcyclist (September) Corbin has an ad for their CB saddle. It has a couple photos of the seat section of the bike. Look for it near the back on the "Market Showcase" section

Its kind of neat to see our bike there! Then again, I'll miss have people follow me into parking lots to drool over the bike if there's too many CBs out there...

  Blind Spot Mirrors?
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 07-30-2013, 04:40 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (11)

On all my vehicles, including past motorcycles I have always put a blind spot mirror on both sides, I've always used a rectangle wedge type one....don't think that will work or look so well on the CB's round mirrors, has anyone found one they can recommend?
I've also noticed on the CB that an entire car can be next to me and not show up in my mirrors! And on motorcycles I do not like to have to turn my entire head around to check my sides as something can happen in front of me at that split second....

  To CB1100 or NOT
Posted by: Kalamari_imp - 07-30-2013, 01:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (24)

Hello all

I am 44 and have very fond memories of riding on the back of my dads CB550 and CB750 back in the 70's as a kid.

I got into riding in 1999 buying a 74 CB350 four with 3200 miles. I still have the bike - currently rebuilding master cylinder and caliper.

In 2000, I bought a Shadow Sabre - also still have and in excellent shape.

My dilemma is that I kinda prefer the standard bikes and their riding position.... I really like the old CBs and love the idea of having a modern version (no real maintenance concerns) with better braking and performance - although prefer to have it in Black.

I really dont think I need 3 bikes (nor does my wife)... and never really considered myself a cruiser type of guy and dont care for super sport bikes... so I am thinking of trading the sabre in (I will never let go of the CB350). Oddly enough though - I have grown attached to my Sabre.

Can any compare the ride of the cb1100 with the shadow line cruiser? I feel my sabre runs quite smooth and pulls ok (although on the tame side). As far as handling, I certainly feel comfy on the highway but feel like I am along for the ride and less in control at times at slower maneuvering.

Is the CB1100 stable on the highway? I seldom ride over 70 anyway - but I have heard complaints of wind.

I guess I am looking for anyone who has made a similiar move (cruiser to standard) and has regrets (what are they?) or tell me if you are very satified and never looked back.

Thanks for reading and appreciate your thoughts

Kurt

765 miles and I'm in for the initial maintenance. I did the oil change at 636. The dealer is only charging me $80 so I think it's worth it. I'm having them check out the jerky throttle issue. I'll post tomorrow what they say. The shop manual came in today so hopefully this will be the only time the dealer will touch it.

  Separate handle bars?
Posted by: Mackerel_imp - 07-29-2013, 07:12 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (12)

Has anyone tried using something like a separate handle kit? I really like the low and closer in look it can give, but I'm not sure what the clearance would be or how difficult it would be to install.

  Do mods lower value?
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 07-29-2013, 05:12 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (17)

I was wondering if everyone out there modifying their CB1100 thinks this will help or hurt their resale value when they go to sell or trade it in?
I know with cars, I would prefer one that is well kept and 100% stock...I don't want one where some kid has been adding wheels, brakes, nitrous, blacked out windows, etc. In my mind that cheapens the vehicle and takes away from selling price.

I also know that most people doing mods, at least in their mind, think it adds to the value because the next person does not have to do them.
As of now, mods I have made are a small wind shield, and will probably add a Staintune slip-on soon...

So, does it add or subtract?
