Hi everyone, I've got 2 weeks on my cb1100. A couple of days ago I took up the local mountain pass to an alt of 8500ft -- no problems at all, the bike purred like a kitten. I also drove through the garden of the gods and snapped some pics. Lovin the bike so far.

There must be a few Colorado CB1100 owners around here. Wanna hook up with a cheesehead? For coffee, beer, or burgers? I am trailering a CRF250L out from July 31 to Aug 17. I am going to camp in The Poudre Canyon, near Craig, near Dillon, near Buena Vista, down by Lake City, then visit some buds I have in Manitou Springs.

Has anyone moved there rear turn signals yet to make room for saddlebags? If so I am looking for a source to purchase what is needed to move mine. I am aware Samurider has a kit, but I was looking for something a little more local.

Completed phase one of the conversion this weekend. Emgo fairing and Fuzzy's shorty exhaust mod, (thanks, Fuzzy!). She's making progress. Next up is getting rid of that ugly chirstmas tree on the rear fender.

After this last trip it was time to change the oil. I just went and serviced the whole bike as I showed in the How to do your own 600 mile service thread.

Only this time I let it drain for a couple hours while I cleaned the interior of my Civic. Also this time I held back 6 oz from the gallon so I didn't overfill it. Last time I put in an even gallon and the oil covered the site window. Wanted to avoid that this time. When all was said and done I added 2 of those ounces back in to bring it even with the top line. I will recheck after the first ride. So it looks like 4 oz short of a gallon fills mine with filter change.

Throttle play was still good at 4 mm. Neither crankcase pressure drain tubes had any fluid in them. I did adjust the chain the tiniest bit, maybe 1/8" which I probably could have skipped. There are no tight spots I could find. All lights are still functioning properly.

I did notice my front tire was beginning to exhibit some slight cupping on each side of center. I checked pressure before the trip..36 lbs, and when I checked it today, also 36 pounds. I added 2 pounds to the front to bring it to 38 pounds. Will see if that helps. Back still measured 42, same as before the trip, and looked fine other than a slight flattening in the center which is to be expected.

Ready for another 4,000 miles now, at which time the rear tire will probably be toast, and maybe the front as well if the cupping continues.

You know when you tried all of your old oil filter wrenches from the strap type to the cap types and none will get a decent grip on the small Honda oil filter?

You're too lazy to drive to the auto parts store so you scour your tool options. The last resort plumbers pipe wrench wouldn't fit because of the headers. Didn't want to go total cave man and poke a big screwdriver through the filter can. What to do?

Then I remembered my woodworkers-oil-filter-wrench:



Crude? Yes. Simple? Yes. Fits around the headers and oil line? Yes. I have a bunch of different sized C-clamps inherited from my father who was a woodworker.

That factory filter is really TIGHT but the C-clamp could make enough of a dent to get a good enough grip to loosen the filter, then I could just unscrew by hand.

Here in Honolulu the city approved way to get rid of your engine oil is to drain it into that absorbent filled plastic bag inside of a cardboard box. Wire tie, tape up the box and put in the city provide trash bin where they take it to the trash-to-power incinerator.

Another idea for keeping your garage floor clean from the inevitable drips during an oil change or chain lube is to tape a puppy pee pad onto some cardboard and position that under your bike. Puppy pee pad should be good for several oil changes unless you really mess up. Yeah, you parents of young ones could use a disposable diaper instead. Or you oldsters could use Depends.

My wife and I have been riding Sport Touring bikes for many years and are thinking about getting a smaller, lighter bike. I love the look of the CB1100. Does anyone ride 2up ? I was wondering about the power.

I own both a loaded down with luggage CB1100 and a loaded down with luggage Bonnie with 904cc big bore with CR 35 carbs. We did roll ons onlysince I have not had the 6500 rpm rev limiter fixed yet. 75 m.p.h. roll on the Bonnie pulls a bike length for a few seconds then here comes the CB passing and pulling away, 60 ,50, & 40 m.p.h. roll ons the CB slowly pulls away.? The Bonnie had its luggage bags fullnandvthe CB 11 had empty H/B 42L side bags and 36L Coocase trunk mostly empty.

I found the left side of the CB1100 somewhat lacking in 'bling" and ordered a chrome chain guard from Samurider,hopefully it will be here soon.When I saw a brochure of the UK bikes I noticed that on their bikes they had a silver colored left crank case/front sprocket cover.I thought why not have that one on my bike to get a better look on the left side.After being in contact with David Silver Spares in England I ordered a cover with the 3 bolts as well.The total cost including shipping to the USA was about $285.I could have bought a cover here cheaper and painted it but I wanted the original Honda paint/finish on it and keep my old one as a spare.As soon as it arrives I will post a picture.
