  Jerky throttle response anyone?
Posted by: LiveToRide_imp - 07-25-2013, 11:18 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (21)

I have just over 600 miles on my CB and I'm getting a jerky response when decelerating. Is anyone else having this issue? Any ideas what might be causing it?

Thinking about a wider rear tire
Posted by: silascopathic_imp - 07-25-2013, 10:40 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (97)

Was wondering if anyone knew how big you could go on the rear with the stock rim? Think I could fit a 180 on the rear to really beef it up?

When I eliminate the rear fender I would love to do this as well

I'm 3 months in and when I filled up today I hit 6565 miles.

Anyone else close? Cool

  Chrome Headers
Posted by: Joola_imp - 07-25-2013, 12:10 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (14)

I just noticed the Takashi over at samurider.com added chrome headers to his CB1100 section. They're going for ~$680 before shipping and are compatible with all slip-on exhausts available. A Google translation of the manufacturer's appears to indicate they overcome the browning and corrosion we experience with the stock stainless headers.

  Suspension Comfort?
Posted by: Billtannica_imp - 07-25-2013, 09:21 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

I've admired the CB1100 and lately been considering getting one, but I have some concerns about the suspension. I worry that with such limited rear wheel travel, the bike will be unable to cope comfortably with less than perfect (frost heaves, potholes, etc.) roads.

My current ride is a Triumph Street Triple R and it beats the heck out of me. Yes, it has a very sporty suspension but it also has much more rear suspension travel. And one of the things I would want from the CB1100 is a comfortable ride, much more comfortable than the Triumph.

Reviews that mention the suspension at all comment on how it is comfy but gets overwhelmed at speed. They don't say what the roads are like or compare the ride quality to other bikes, so the info isn't actually all that helpful. Can anyone elaborate on the ride quality and characteristics of the CB1100?

  Ikon shocks for CB1100
Posted by: Huladog_imp - 07-25-2013, 08:20 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (36)

Just found some available for the CB1100:
http://www.ikonsuspensionusa.com/shop/7610-1507/

P/N 7610-1507 for $380 in standard configuration.

Might be an affordable rear suspension option. Too bad the various combinations of chrome and black parts didn't include a red spring.

Edit: Found the main Australian site and they do have the aluminum body 7614 that can be had with a red spring. P/N 7614-1507.

  Puig Plus install question
Posted by: Rolls_imp - 07-25-2013, 01:10 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (16)

Just got my Puig Plus mini wind screen, model 4620H.

For those of you who've installed one, how did you mount Puig's metal bracket to the headlight?

Did you use the stock headlight screws and slip the windscreen's metal bracket in between the headlight bucket and the headlight mounting bracket or did you replace the headlight screws with the screws (and the little cylindrical spacers) supplied in the Puig's installation bag o screws?

Thanks in advance for any guidance from those who've done this already!

  Meeting other forum members

Imagine..this is a new forum..for a new motorcycle, but oh how it can bring members together.

Last week I met Mike (bravoMike) and just missed meeting Kathi (KVdreamer) down in Maggie Valley.

Tonight I went to a Vintage Night at the Rootbeer Stand in Sharonville Ohio and met forum members Curt (hondahoarder) and Art. Good guys. Had a great time, 2 chili cheese dogs and a mug of root beer. What a hoot!

L to right Art, ferret and Hondahorder

If you wonder what we are laughing about, Curt is so tall, I drug a concrete block over to stand on so you couldn't see how short I really am

Dont know what Curt and Art were discussing, but pretty sure it was the CB1100

Art with his CB. Arts wife in the background rode her new 2014 Honda 700 for all to see. Cool bike

It was rather tricky fitting the cowl but its on there good and solid now! I love it! I may tint the plexi eventually.

  Cover for CB1100?
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 07-24-2013, 05:08 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (14)

Does anyone have a cover they can recommend that fits the CB1100 properly with small fairing? I would use it in my garage as an extra level of protection to help keep dust and pollen off it. Was thinking one of the top "stretch" type I have seen advertised but never in person....Thanks in advance.
