Has anyone installed a throttle lock or cruse control on their CB11100? I am looking for simple throttle lock that will fit the CB.

Has anybody come across a "Sissy Bar" (low to medium height) for the CB1100? My wife will not ride with me unless there is something behind her (can't say I blame her). I had a medium (12 inch) sissy bar on by 76 CB750 (back in the day), and a low one (8 inch) on my Triumph Adventurer 900 (this one had a small luggage rack behind it which was just ideal). I have been looking around but can't seem to find anything. Of course a Tail Box would do the trick, but it is just not as cool!! Any help is appreciated.

I have about 980 miles on my new Cb1100. Havent done a thing to it......I did not purchase a service plan. Any suggestions on what I should do service wise? I know I am due for an oil change.....

Is it worth bringing it into the dealership for it's first service? How much is the first service through the dealership? What do they do during its first service?

Has anyone done their first service that can share their experience?

Has anyone decided to do their own maintenance? Any suggestions would be very helpful !

In Maine, you can't start thinking about winter storage soon enough. I received my storage cover yesterday and I am very pleased with the quality and fit of it.

I ordered the Guardian Ultralite Plus #26035-00 in size medium. I do not have a windshield, but this cover would easily fit over a flea flicker type screen and it covers my rear rack. The cover has a self-contained stuff bag at the rear end, clinch strap under the engine, and elastic at the base.

In my old couple and young couple thread in my last post I related how I came to buy my Kaw 1000 after being disappointed after a test ride on a BMW.

In 2006 I again was disappointed on a test ride. I loved my FZ-1 and wanted a dedicated sport touring bike with fairing and hard bags. To me, a FJR was a logical choice. Off to my local Hon- Yam shop for a test ride. Wife and I took a good long ride, about 60 miles. On our way back to the shop, we stopped at a McDonalds for a cold drink and a discussion. I said to my wife " what do you think?" She enthusiastically replied she loved it and thought we should buy it. She was ready to write the check. What did I think ? She asked. Well, I hated it. The clutch was so stiff my left arm was cramping. The throttle was so stiff my right arm was cramping. It felt very top heavy, and I had no confidence leaned over in the corners. I decided not to buy it. Instead when I got back to the shop I told them to order me a Honda ST1300 without even test riding one. Turned out to be a good choice.

BMW R90s and 2006 Yamaha FJR 1300... Two bikes which I wanted which disappointed me badly.

So anyone else think they wanted a certain bike...until they rode one? Or worse, ought one and discovered after you got it home you made a mistake?

FYI, I sent Vance and Hines an email to see if they have any plans on making a system for the Eleven and the answer was "no."
You'd think it would be a no-brainer since they made systems for the old Nighthawks, but I guess not.

Work has been busy lately but I managed to fit in a day trip from Rhode Island to Nauset Beach, Cape Cod (about 100 miles each way) on the CB1100. Many of my relatives on my mom's side of the family live on the Cape, and I recall going to the Cape to visit grandparents when I was quite young.

Rode the 195 E and 495 E slab, heading due east with the low in the horizon sun in my eyes (next time I get up this early I'm heading west!) until I got to the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Cod_Canal]Cape Cod Canal, where the road is more interesting. The canal is crossed by two (almost) identical bridges, the Bourne to the south and the Sagamore a couple miles to the north. The history of the building of the Canal and these two bridges makes interesting [url=http://capecodcanalcentennial.com/history/]reading.



The main road into and out of the Cape is Route 6, known as the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-Cape_Highway]Mid-Cape, which is a four lane divided parkway until the town of Harwich which is about half its length; at which point it becomes a two lane undivided road. People drive quite fast along the Mid-Cape, and years ago it was pretty dangerous as passing was allowed. Now it still is a bit nerve wracking, as the undivided road is bumper to bumper cars forming a convoy going 50+ mph and no shoulder (sand in parts!) on the right and head on traffic on the left. The pucker factor increases as those vacationers in Volvo station wagons get up close to my rear license plate and there is not much one can do about it.

I stopped for breakfast at [url=http://www.dailypapercapecod.com/]the Daily Paper Restaurant in Hyannis; this place serves a great breakfast and frequently there are motorcyclists at the place. I visited relatives in Orleans, and in the Orleans police department parking lot they had an old 1946 Chevrolet Stylemaster four door police cruiser. I think this is the first time I eagerly pulled over to a police cruiser to get a closer look.





I was planning to go to Provincetown at the end of the Cape, but the traffic was like a parking lot about 15 miles before the town, so I decided to see [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauset_Light]Nauset Beach Lighthouse and turn around.



The return trip was back along the same roads. About 200 miles round trip.

So far I've only done the K-10 tail light, not shown above. Photo to follow. Bit of a pain, drilling and splicing. Not a simple bolt on item. Hope the rest is easier. I had a 74 this same color.

Finally getting time to put the Yosh system on. Pulled bike in my foyer so I don't have to deal with this heat. Pulled off stock system tonight & installed center stand stop from system. Hopefully tomorrow evening I have it completed. Gonna be ready for PCV & dyno tune after this. Hoping for about 15hp gain. They claim the TBR slip on gets a little over 9hp. We'll see.

I hope Meowguy doesn't mind me piggy backing off his excellent post. Seems to me young couples that ride together develop a special bond that can last a life time, and add a special enjoyment to their marriage.

The Ferret and Mrs Ferret on their then new 1977 Kawasaki KZ 1000. We actually started riding together in 1972, and got married in 1974. Next May we celebrate our 40 th anniversary.
