My first reaction to the new CB1100
Posted by: dave - 03-01-2014, 06:13 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (18)

Let's share our first reactions to the new CB1100. The first time I saw it in person (I had seen it in magazines and liked it immediately) was at the Moto-Gp in Laguna Seca last summer. The bike was on an elevated stand and I couldn't stop looking at it. I must have went back to the Honda display three times that weekend just to stare at the CB1100. I told my wife that I wanted to buy that bike, and if I did, the first thing I would do is repaint the side cover to match the gas tank. I also told her all it needed was 4-into-4 exhausts to be perfect. Fortunately for me Honda has repainted the side panel, and added a second pipe to the LH side because I am waiting on my 2014 deluxe that I have a deposit on.

Moriwaki Swingarm Pivot Cap (Frame Plug)

These aluminum beauties replace the shiny (cheap looking?) OEM chromed plastic caps. They are in Honda's Japanese accessory catalog and like most motorcycle parts from Japan are precision made and pricy ($60+, including shipping).

Some of you may ask why spend that kind of money on a simple pair of plugs? I ask - Have you farkled today? Tongue

  Superbrace

Finally, after 3 months from the original release date, I received my superbrace. No instructions were included on how to install. I went to Yahoo and watched several videos on installation on other model bikes and will follow their instructions unless someone has any other information on installation.

  Gloves
Posted by: emptysea - 03-01-2014, 01:02 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (19)

It occurred to me that it might be a good idea to have a thread in the Riding Gear section for each article of riding apparel. People can post what particular jacket, pants, boots, etc. that they recommend in each thread. I'll start things off with "Gloves".

I just purchased two pair of Lee Parks Design gloves...one for warm weather, one for cold. They're not armored, but I'm more concerned with abrasion-resistance than impact protection. The deerskin with reinforcement pads and the seam stitching technique used in these should suit my purposes. Plus I like the rancher glove look. 1961, I am 11 years old, the Cushmans, Lambrettas, and Vespas are to large for me to handle, my parents take on Honda, oh the joy to assemble and test ride all the Honda 50 and 90cc step-thru's. I could slide forward on and off the seat to touch the ground. photo shows full Honda lineup except Cl72 scrambler. I see the front fender of the rare Cb92 next to the sign pole and my dad sits on a white CA76. I also see a cream colored tank of a CA110 three speed and the front of a C105t. Triumph, BSA, BMW, Suzuki,Yamaha, Kawasaki, Rabbit all came to the dealership floor in the next few years. the brands came and went as the Japan big 4 battled for floorspace. Honda and Yamaha always stayed. they figured you can't sell units if they are stacked in a warehouse. I remember the owner of Rockycycle(TuckerRocky now) at the time stopping by with accessories to display for sale and payment to him was made after the product sold. he would stop by every month to restock and collect. deals done with a handshake. vfrpaul.[url=http://s1077.photobucket.com/user/vfrpaul98/media/1962-1_zpsdb207bf2.png.html][Image: 33a50bf8bc22e5c8b4d40e0d6c1ddffc.png]

Cb's in Orlando? Bike week trip?
Posted by: Romo1969_imp - 02-28-2014, 11:35 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

How many cb's are in Orlando?? Thinking if there are enough we could form a group to do some monthly rides or planned trips. Also would be cool to have an organized meet of orlando cb's along with cb's from surrounding areas. Ho cool would it be to see a bunch of CB's parked in a row.

Ferret
Is there a way if we find we have enough to for a sub group message area to post monthly ride info?

Was anyone here riding in Portland tonight?
Posted by: Guth_imp - 02-28-2014, 11:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

Only my third live CB1100 sighting thus far. Just a few minutes ago. I was walking along SE 50th here in Portland, OR. Rider was in a black jacket and a matte black helmet. The bike of course looked awesome.

Just curious to know if it was anyone here?

  Puig Plus
Posted by: 1100rider_imp - 02-28-2014, 07:12 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (1)

I just called monster parts and ordered the last Puig Plus windscreen they had in stock. I have another brand windscreen mounted on the CB but it will be replaced by the Puig. I have read good reviews on this website about the screen and liked the way they looked so decided to get one.

  Stock exhaust Jet-hot coating
Posted by: D_Man_imp - 02-28-2014, 05:20 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (43)

Hey All,
Has anyone considered getting your headers coated. My understanding is there are many colors available and would stop the brownish tint everyone hates. I called Jet-hot and the quote was $250 not including the muffler. I was thinking about getting the main headers painted satin black and go with the RS3 siip on in chrome. Any thoughts.
