I saw these on ebay after looking at their slip-ons.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/71485MI-GROUP-MAN...485c870945

I have heard the sound clips on youtube and heard a muffler on a Kaw crotch rocket it is pretty much what I want as for sound. While I am not really set on changing the headers for appearance reasons the thought of loosing the cat and it's weight & restriction appeals to me. Any word on how their products stack up?

  The 2014's are here?

Gentlemen. I was told from a reliable source that the 2014 models are available at Simi Valley Honda, in California. Does anybody else know if the 2014's have hit their dealer showroom floors yet?

Is the K&N air filter worth the money??
Posted by: Sfomoto_imp - 03-05-2014, 02:48 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (21)

Hello,
Is the K&N air filter worth the money?? Does it really make a difference in performance, gas millage and sound? I am kind of hesitant because the myth that the oil on the filter can create problems on sensors.

Thanks

Cursing the fact that more snow is falling outside my window, and more is due this coming weekend! WHY, OH WHY! HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME HONDA!! How could you just refine an already decent bike and force me to visit my dealer, only to pledge to throw all my hard earned money at him for the next couple of years!? Should I even add the fact that it's for a bike that hasn't reached our shores yet!? I'm even on a first name basis with Takashi who probably knows more about my bank account than I do! I tell ya, it feels like when I was 15 waiting for 16 so I could get my license. Why is the end of March so far away!? What if the boat it comes over on, sinks?

  Valve Adjustment
Posted by: RUSS1100_imp - 03-04-2014, 11:44 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (14)

Just wondering if anyone has attempted a valve adjustment yet. Going by the parts fisce on the 2013 model it shows the shim being under the bucket which would mean the cams need to be removed. If anyone can confirm this would be apprieciated.

  windscreen causing oscillation?
Posted by: Aussie_imp - 03-04-2014, 12:59 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (25)

Hi guys,

I've installed my Dart windscreen. It does the job nicely at speeds above 80 - 100km/h by keeping the wind off the chest. Seems like it is sending the air to the face of my helmet which is causing me some noisy helmet issues, which I dislike.

Also, this is the first naked bike I've fitted with a small screen. When I take my hands off the bars they oscillate (wobble) a little bit, nothing huge but still quite a noticeable tremor.

Questions:

If it common for short small screens to cause increase helmet noise? (The turbulence is not really an issue at speed, just noise.)

Also, do all these type of screens cause at least some oscillation or it is something you can 'adjust' out?

Cheers,

Andy

  Sunday ride home
Posted by: Cormanus - 03-03-2014, 09:20 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (10)

I've a mate who occasionally asks me to go fishing for a few days on [url=https://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Moreton+Island,+Brisbane,+Queensland&hl=en&ll=-27.087251,153.415833&spn=1.09672,2.113495&sll=-27.470506,154.068146&sspn=1.092944,2.113495&oq=Moreton,+Queensland&hnear=Moreton+Island&t=m&z=10]Moreton Island just off Brisbane. It's no place for the CB1100 as it's a sand island, so I had to abandon it at the ferry terminal in Brisbane where it waited patiently for my return.

There's no ride report on the trip down as it was a straight line squirt down the free-way and unmemorable in most respects, except for having to put on the waterproof kit only then to have to take it off again. (It's too hot to ride in it if it isn't raining).

The day after I got back from the island I decided to take [url=https://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid=201247423130042081552.0004f3c17adf80ed21e84&msa=0&ll=-27.105589,153.432312&spn=2.193019,4.22699]the scenic route home. It involves leaving Brisbane to the west and heading up Mt Nebo to the north-west. It's a pretty climb and a bikers' paradise as it twists and turns. It was particularly so given it was Sunday and a reasonable day at that.

Leaving Brisbane

Heading up the mountain

In the township of Mt Nebo, I stopped for egss, bacon and coffee at a café where I could watch the bikes coming out of a corner.

Views from the Café

A few kilometres after leaving the café, I chose to go down the mountain again to Samford, rather than continue through Mt Glorious and down to Lake Wivenhoe. The road down to the lake has some great twisties, but I wasn't willing to travel the extra distance.

Down the hill to Samford

After Samford, the road leads through Dayboro and up onto Mt Mee, a fantastic ride I've talked about before. Plenty of twisties and bikes.

Mt Mee Road

Due to photo limits, part 2 follows.
There's a café atop Mt Mee where I took these photos, the first one's for Buffalohead:

Finally, across the plain to the excellent hill to Maleny

From Maleny there's a great view south to the Glasshouse Mountains.

That's it for photos; the camera battery went flat. But I made it home without putting a wheel on a freeway.
