  Jackets
Posted by: emptysea - 03-03-2014, 01:00 PM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (41)

What jacket do you recommend? (Brand and Style)

What do you like about it? Any drawbacks? Approximate cost?

Post a link and/or a photo if you can.

I'll start: I currently have an Olympia Switchback. Comfortable textile jacket with a waterproof, breathable liner that has worked great for me. It has a rip at the bottom that needs mending, but otherwise it's held up well for three seasons. I think the styling is ok, but a little boring and the inside pocket is too small. I purchased Revit rain gear that works great, so I'm thinking about a new jacket that doesn't have to be waterproof. Maybe leather, but I'm worried about it getting too hot in summer. I'll just have to keep looking. Maybe there will be some ideas posted here. Smile

Here's a link for my jacket. [url=http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/olympia-switchback-jacket?gclid=CNy_gOfu97wCFa9cMgodQAYAOg]Revzilla Olympia Switchback

  Rust on lower fork bracket

Bike's only 7 months old. Dealer says Honda usually takes care of issues like this with no problem. He took pictures to send to Honda and said I shouldn't see rust like this for at least 10 years. I'll let you know how Honda responds.

  Peg lowering Kit

Even though it's not listed on the site these guys say they have both Rider and Passenger peg lowering kits for the CB1100. I tried to call them this morning but my cell does not have international calling on it.

2014 Deluxe and K&H Hi Seat
Posted by: Damfino_imp - 03-03-2014, 12:25 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (13)

If anyone's thinking of ordering right away, you may want to hold off for awhile. I ordered one the other day and now I've got an email from Mr. Takase wanting to verify that mine was not the deluxe. Maybe the seat pans are different and they haven't had time to produce them yet. I won't know anything for certain until I hear back from them. Due to the time difference, that probably won't be til late tonight or in the morning. I'll keep you posted. Thumbs Up

  Anyone good with photoshop?
Posted by: the Ferret - 03-02-2014, 10:40 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (43)

Can anyone take this photo and add black fork gaiters, and make the headlight bucket and fork ears red to match the tank? Oh and add little black rubber ball covers to the lever ends? Wink

I thought I remembered someone doing a "how to" on painting the headlight bucket but I can't find it. Anyone else remember that?

I was organizing files on my computer and ran across this pic. While it looks like a normal '13 U.S. model, looks can be deceiving.

This pic was posted to the Nighthawk forum in April 2010. The poster saw it on a weekend ride somewhere in CA and said it was wearing manufacturer plates. It looks like a prototype of what would eventually be the U.S model.

A few differences that I noted were a different reflector set up around the license plate, the smaller turn signals appear to be installed and there are no reflectors on the front fork. Anyone see any other differences?

After drooling over the Japan/Australia models that came out in 2010, this pic gave me hope that someday I'd be able to own one myself.

  Boots
Posted by: emptysea - 03-01-2014, 09:13 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (96)

What boots do you recommend?

I have a pair of pull-on waterproof boots I picked up at Cycle Gear pretty cheap. They do a good job but have no insulation (or very little) and they have neither the style nor the comfort to be worn off the bike for any length of time.

I am considering a pair of workboot-styled boots. Looked at a pair of Red Wings that I liked, but I'm hesitant because I'm worried about malleolus protection. Ferret will REALLY think I have champagne taste in gear when he sees what I'm considering: [url=http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/stylmartin-indian-boots]Stylmartin Indian Boots. Pretty pricey, but they get great reviews, can be re-soled, and will look pretty good and be comfortable with a pair of jeans at work. Any thoughts, besides that they're expensive?

My first reaction to the new CB1100
Posted by: dave - 03-01-2014, 06:13 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (18)

Let's share our first reactions to the new CB1100. The first time I saw it in person (I had seen it in magazines and liked it immediately) was at the Moto-Gp in Laguna Seca last summer. The bike was on an elevated stand and I couldn't stop looking at it. I must have went back to the Honda display three times that weekend just to stare at the CB1100. I told my wife that I wanted to buy that bike, and if I did, the first thing I would do is repaint the side cover to match the gas tank. I also told her all it needed was 4-into-4 exhausts to be perfect. Fortunately for me Honda has repainted the side panel, and added a second pipe to the LH side because I am waiting on my 2014 deluxe that I have a deposit on.
