question @ Europeans - BLACK engine block?
Posted by: Riko_imp - 02-23-2014, 09:22 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (13)

Hi everybody,

my following question is simple, I think.

will the new model be available in Europe with a Black engine block?

In the USA and Japan there is the all blacked out version, but will there be some available in Europe?

It seems that on the French website I can see an all black version.
http://moto.honda.fr/honda_CB1100_99.html
http://www.cb1100.fr/deux-nouvelles-cb1100-pour-2014/

On the UK site there isnt even an CB1100 to be found, wtf...Dodgy
And on the German (and Belgian site where I am from) all models come with the silver engine...same for the Italians, Swedes and Austrians....

Are there any europeans here wit a all black engine, especially the French, can you guys confirm? Smile

thx a lot

Riko

  Side-to-side play in throttle grip
Posted by: pechorin75_imp - 02-22-2014, 07:52 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (28)

I just picked up my new-to-me '13. Really love the bike so far--it's so smooth!

Anyway, that said, I noticed something I've never encountered on any other bike I've ridden. The right-hand (throttle) grip has "play" from side to side. I didn't measure it, but you can move the whole grip maybe 2-3mm in and out (i.e., away/toward the center of the bike).

I found this a bit odd, and not really to my liking. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, is there a fix for it? Ran some searches on the forum and have only found references to normal (radial) throttle play.

This is what happens when you combine this great forum with 3 months of snow bombardment....K&N red stitching seat, Matching custom red stitching Solo bag, rear passenger bar, tank knee pads, chrome edging on tank & seat, front strut fender, National Cycle Tinted Shield, red bar ends, reservoir covers, fork bolts and oil cap. Gators. Ordered the red side panels & separate 3D logo. On the fence about exhaust. 4 into 2, just new double wall chrome headers, or leave stock.

  Motorcycle etiquette

I'm not sure where this question belongs. I'm not even sure it belongs at all, having seen all sorts of derision aimed at "nodding threads" on an Australian motorcycle forum. It may even be that the question, like comments and discussions about oil, God and politics is expressly banned.

But I saw this:

... and I just have to ask: what is the modern protocol in the US—or any other country from which this forum has members—for acknowledging other motorcyclists?

As a boy starting out, I was told it was the done thing to acknowledge other people on (motor) bikes with a nod or a wave. You had to be careful as a young 'un on a small capacity bike. Some folk on big beasts wanted to remain aloof and waving to some of the types who affected denim jackets with cut-off sleves and big pictures on the back—which I'm sure they wore because they couldn't master the zip fastener on their leather jackets and had to keep the front together somehow—might earn you a scary look or a kick in the head. But, generally, bikers were affable types who acknowledged one another. Oh, and there were people who rode scooters ...

I come back to riding after years away and I do it in a different place. Once I've remastered staying upright, I start waving and nodding away like the good old days only to find people staring resolutely ahead. Any sort of acknowledgment from any other biker has become as rare as rockinghorse cuss. Have things changed that much? Is this an Australian phenomenon? Or is it particular to the peculiar state of Australia in which I now live?

Before Ferret or Guth, with smoke erupting from their ears because I've committed some unforgivable breach of forum protocol, rip this post down, ban me from the site forever, and cause the bikers equivalent of a fatwa to be promulgated against me, to could someone take pity on me and treat this as a serious sociological question? Please?

Chrome or not to chrome? Hmmm
Posted by: Romo1969_imp - 02-21-2014, 11:23 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (16)

Ok

My bike is spanking new 2013.

I'm kinda thinking that this chrome vinyls wrap stuff would look pretty sweet and as a side benefit preserve the original paint and have a cool option for now. Thinking of chrome side panels and tank and if I order the aluminum cowl chroming that as well.

Thoughts. I am thinking of doing a little photo shop or hoping a cb comrad has that ability.
