Exploding sunroof danger to bikers
#1
As I got onto the 303 freeway a few miles from home today driving my 2017 Honda CRV, the sunroof exploded throwing small bits of glass in the air and onto the road. Fortunately, no one was behind me, but imagine following a car when suddenly the sunroof explodes and throws a large mass of small broken glass bits at you. Fortunately (again) the inner shade was pulled (I get enough sun here without it coming through a hole in the roof of my car) so I didn't know what the explosion was until I got home. Just one more thing to watch for on the road.

Geez, Nacho, that's crazy! What would make a sunroof explode?!? Did you have the music thumping again?

Huh

Soooo, the CRV roof went through some sort of sudden and unexpected expansion due to heat?

Glad you were not seriously distracted during the event. (wow)

GO - I looked online and it is apparently a common event. There is even a class-action law-suit against Honda about it. It was a very loud explosion and the sound of bits of glass, like gravel, blowing off my roof. Very distracting.

You are not having a good run, Nacho. Glad you’re ok.

Not a good thing to happen in front of a motorcyclist!

Hey, at my age the music has to be loud so I can hear it!

Wow that’s crazy! Glad our CRV is the poverty model I guess.
I’d hate to have to clean up all the glass in the car.

Holy Moly! My wife's vehicle is a CR-V. It doesn't have a sunroof, but my Honda Accord Coupe does. Fortunately, our driveway is shaded by trees and I have a moving blanket on top of it to guard against tree debris and large hail damage, so hopefully it doesn't get that thermal expansion cycle thing going. I checked, and my Honda is a 2008, not included the class action suit.
