| Engine Oil Viscosity for 2014 Models |

At 600 miles I did my 1st oil change on '14 deluxe using Honda HP4 10W-40. Every time I have rode after that oil change I heard new loud ticking noise when the bike warmed up.
Last night, I decided to drain the 10W-40 and put 10W-30 in. I have ridden the bike 3 times since then and have not heard the ticking noise once.
I noticed the 2014 owner's manual makes no mention of any other viscosity other than 10W-30.
Previous threads indicated that the 2013 shop manual indicated that 10W-40 was an option. Can anyone validate if the "2014" shop manual lists 10W-40 as an acceptable weight? Thank you
I live in Reno, NV (temps ranging from 70-95 degrees).

I initially wanted a 2014 CB1100 primarily because of the gear indicator and the 6th gear as well as any other possible improvements that I'm unaware of from 2013 to 2014.
I have an opportunity to purchase a 2013 standard model CB1100 with approximately 2 miles on the odometer from a local private party for $7,000 - $7,200. In your opinion, is this a good/fair/poor deal?
Note-
By reading some of the posts here, many owners feel that the 6th gear is often not used for local speeds of 60 mph and less. (?)

I have an opportunity to purchase a used 2013 CB1100 for $5,449 plus Tax. The bike has 3,600 miles on the clock.
I have a good feeling that the price is not bad but I just thought that I should beg the question: 'What is the Going Price for this bike'?

| Moriwaki One Piece Exhaust Question |

I am currently looking at aftermarket exhausts and really like the Moriwaki one piece in black (Stainless, oil change & center-stand compatible) but I have two questions about it. Before I send an inquiry to Mr. T, I figured ask you guys.
Here is a link to the exhaust: http://www.samurider.com/?p=22163/#itemImage
Another link to Web!ke: http://japan.webike.net/products/21777201.html
1. Is the Moriwaki one piece catless? I believe it is
2. Does it have a removable/changeable baffle like the K-Factory?
I prefer the Moriwaki over the Yoshimura because I believe the Yoshimura (Hand bent or mechanical) requires removal for oil filter changes.
I prefer it over the K-factory because the K-Factory is not stainless.
Of course, I would love to get any advice/feedback from those who have had the bike a while and may have some experience with these one piece exhausts.
I understand there are many opinions of which style exhaust looks best and why, but I am only interested in the black one-piece style because it's really short and looks cool.
Laters!

Gentlemen,
When my son Charley was 12 months old and barely walking I bought him an electric quad to ride. At age two he received a Honda Z50 Mini-trail with training wheels and a governor on the throttle. It took a couple years before he mastered that little bike without training wheels. As he grew up riding with me in the dirt a succession of Honda's rode with him. XR70, XR100, XR125, and now a CRF250X. He has always wanted to ride on the street and that made me nervous as I only have one child and he's as much of an adrenalin junkie as I am. Still, I told him that if he graduated from Texas A&M in 4 years or less I would buy him a new Ducati (his dream ride) which isn't exactly the best starter street bike. I decided to buy that Ducati a year early with the stipulation that he could only ride it when he was with me until I had his diploma in hand. This gave me a few months (when he was home from Texas) to teach him street survival and road riding technique.
Two weeks ago he completed his final classes earning a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance from the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M and I signed the title over to him. He loaded one of my Cortech bags up, strapped it to his passenger seat, and took off from our home in Scottsdale, AZ headed for California on his first solo motorcycle trip. First LA where he stayed overnight with friends, then up the coast all the way to Crater Lake in Oregon.
I made a similar trip right after I graduated from college on a Harley Davidson Sportster. Charley says he's enjoying the best riding of his life and having a blast. Start them young, give them the best training you can, and pray for their safety every night. Cheers.
Chip
