  Mizuno Xess Exhaust?
Posted by: JPX_imp - 07-24-2015, 03:24 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (2)

Does anyone have any extra information on the slip-on linked to below? For the price, it looks rather tempting and I think I like the look of it.

I'm curious to know what the build quality of it's like and what the size difference is between the medium and large. I can't seem to find any website or additional pictures of it.

  valve stem
Posted by: gossman_imp - 07-24-2015, 02:41 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (5)

Rear valve stem has a habit of sticking when I check or fill the rear tire. Anyone change out the core before? Done it years ago on a car, just wondering if I could do it with a plain ol' auto parts core and tool.

Hoping on getting out next month for some rides and liked to fix it myself if possible.
Thanks!

First Mod - bye bye OEM mirrors
Posted by: ecka00_imp - 07-23-2015, 11:58 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (19)

Had a buddy turn down the bar end weight to accommodate mirror bracket--I didn't want to lose the bar end weights and internal dampeners. Had an issue trying to get the mirror stable but I was able to resolve. Definitely limits field of view compared to OEM but I love the look and it's legal in Ohio to have one mirror.

Oh No, not another Power Box thread!
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 07-23-2015, 07:25 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (15)

I haven’t done much farkling on my CB1100 this year, spending most of my time and money on a NC700X I purchased back in January. With 30 plus modifications so far, the bike is about done.

I wanted to freshen up my CB1100. I had installed a SP Tadao Twin Tail exhaust on the NC, so I thought I’d try their “Power Box” megaphone exhaust on the CB. It’s about 6” shorter and several pounds lighter than the Staintune exhaust I’ve been running. (See the For Sale section if you are interested in my Staintune.)

The SP Tadao’s exhaust note is nearly identical to the Staintune both in volume and sound quality. I think the smaller size complements the café style I’m going for:

Install was very easy. I paid about $600 for it which includes shipping. Takashi shipped it on a Saturday and it arrived on Monday! Gasket was included.

Sunday Group Ride in Beemer Land
Posted by: Django - 07-22-2015, 11:37 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (12)

Hi comrades,

last Sunday we had one of our monthly group rides. This time our friend from Heilbronn organized the tour, so we, 8 Beemers and 1 Honda startet out from a meeting point at Heilbronn.

The approx 360 km roundtrip led us thru Odenwald, Spessart and Hohenlohische, some hilly regions in Germany.

[url=https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z9I6LYEiNfxY.kQQvHPXpmzyI&usp=sharing]Here is the map of the roundtrip.

Overall I did 573 km including the ride to and from meeting point.

While the last days were rather hot and sunny, this Sunday we had most time some overcast, then little rain and one thunderstorm.

However, we really enjoyed the trip, left some rubber on the road and had a nice lunch and dinner together.

Here are some pictures:

Has anyone replaced their air cleaner?
Posted by: the Ferret - 07-22-2015, 10:31 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (17)

I'm talking stock set up, not for a K&N or other non stock set up.

if so what was the mileage when you changed it?

How dirty was the original air filter?

I know some guys are getting up near 35,000 miles now ( Sanoke, Pterodactyle, others?)

I haven't torn into mine yet but I am only at a little over 14,000 miles. I know my ST filter goes 25,000 miles between changes, but the Majesty needed new filters (2) at 5,000 miles.

14 Deluxe scarcity ... Done right or low production?
Posted by: the Ferret - 07-22-2015, 09:19 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (28)

It seems like there is a lack of the 14 DLXs available around the country, while there are still 13 stds and 14 stds readily available. One has to wonder ..

Is it because the look is more appealing?

Or if the features like 6 speed, dual pipes, larger fuel tank and ABS are more desired?

Or did Honda just make a very limited number of them compared to the other models? (Of course Honda won't give us that info so we are left to speculate.)

Did buyers of the DLX not want a CB 1100 in 13?

Will the DLX hold it's value better than the stds?

If Honda comes out with a late 15 or 16 model of the CB 1100 will it only be in the DLX model?

Interesting things to ponder

  Ammo Can Saddle Bags
Posted by: kennyw - 07-22-2015, 04:52 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (22)

I have been planning on making some saddlebags out of ammo cans. Ordered a pair of tall 50 cal cans off of eBay (Dimensions L-12"x W-6"x H-10"), just waiting for them to arrive so I came up with this photochop.

New Key - Not so Easy
Posted by: Offroad - 07-22-2015, 03:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

I thought I had lost my primary key so I went to the local Honda dealer 2 miles away.

They said they could order it for $40 but not cut it. I would have to take it somewhere to be cut.

I called the dealer 12 miles away and they said they could cut it in house ($15) so I went there and ordered one.

When it came in, they tried to cut it from the code and the computerized machine ruined the new key. They refunded my $15 cut fee.

They ordered a new one an no cost, but when it came in, Honda hadn't told them what was wrong with the machine so they were afraid to cut it.

They tried to get me to take it to another company and let them copy from my old key. Of course if they messed up, I had to eat that $40 key.

In the mean time I found my primary key so I told them no thanks and got a refund for the key.

Has anyone else gotten a new key? Did they have any problems cutting it?
