Didn't really know how to gauge the 'noise level' rating Revzilla set out as this is such a subjective rating and Rev's description for this helmet really went out of it's way to say that the noise-reducing wind collar really helps. Put the helmet on and took the bike on the highway and the wind at high speeds (anything over 45mph) was really a bother as there was a constant whirring noise that was distracting. I've been wearing a Scorpion EXO-700 before this helmet and it's surprisingly a quality helmet for the price. Even the more elaborate ventilation system on my new Bell seems inferior to my Scorpion's.

With all this in mind, I really do like the comfort of my Bell helmet, but the wind noise is the only concern. Do products like this Windjammer really work?

I also just got the SENA intercom system (SMH10) and am told that the windjammer sleeve is probably going to go around it. How does that even work? I don't think I can get a refund for the helmet as I got it off ebay (brand new though) and mistakenly threw away all the packaging. Selling it will be a hassle too so trying to improve it would be fine with me.

Currently riding without a windshield, so I know this doesn't help, but my EXO-700 is quiet even in those conditions too.

TL;DR: I really want to keep this helmet but how do I lessen the wind noise?

Well, it was time. After nine years of wearing my Icon Super Duty boots (which continue to hold up incredibly well), I decided to order a pair of Stylmartin Indian Boots. I went with the brown, hoping it will go well with my brown Ronin jacket.

And, of course, you can't get new boots without also getting new gloves. At least, that's what I told myself. A number of you have said good things about the Lee Parks deerskin gloves and I love their styling so I went with them in tan.

The only thing left on my list of riding gear I "need" is a decent pair of riding pants. For the most part, I wear regular jeans and I know that offers about as much protection as the hair on my legs. So, Kevlar jeans, leather, or something in between? Not sure yet.

I'll post my impressions on the boots and gloves after I have a chance to ride in them.

just enquiring if any one has any ideas on removing light scuff marks from genuine Honda seat caused by boot scuffing vinyl .marks are very light ,cannot feel mark but is visible and annoys me ,as this is the only marks on my 2010 cb.wife thinks im being anal .

hi all, i am a new owner of a 2014 std cb1100 and have done about 250 miles and never washed/cleaned my bike yet... 2 questions for the experts:
1. how often do you clean your ride?
2. how do you clean it?

is there a brain dead easy way of keeping the chrome shining etc?

i am pretty negligent with my cars so please the easiest methods only

I love the panniers, convenient, and they look incredible (IMHO) on the cb1100. incredible quality as well.

I do a lot of weekend scenic trips with a number of cruiser friends and these are so useful, add to that just for around town and commuting, etc.
Loving my CB- its such a unique and fun bike in every respect.
Mine has become a retro sport utility of sorts ...LOL

As policy I deleted the Samurider seat ad since the item was sold, and I didn't want it to turn into a bashing thread, however there were some salient points being made, and it served as a good lesson for us.

When placing an ad for an item in the classifieds, it is important to give as much information as possible to prospective buyers

Sample:

Jacket.. Tourmaster, waist length, with zip out liner, blue, black and silver, size large, 1 year old,, looks new, no rips or tears, all zippers work as they should, 2 chest vents,1 back vent, inside pocket.. retails 195.00 I'm asking $75.00 shipped to Conus (Continental United States ie: lower 48) and include a couple of pictures of the item from different sides/ angles.

It is also important for seller to respond to questions in a timely manner with as accurate of information as is available or to the knowledge or the belief of the seller. It becomes incumbent upon the buyers to ask the right questions.

Sample:

Does it have CE armor in the shoulders, elbows and back?

Once All parties are satisfied they have enough information the transaction should then proceed.

We don't have any remedies here, and to tell the truth this was the first " incident" that I recall where something wasn't what the buyer believed it to be. Usually the reports say " Got the item quickly, exactly as described, thanks "seller". Go ahead and delete the ad.

And that's the way it should go.

In any case, when you buy something from the classifieds, you are accepting the risk that the item might not be as you expect. Maybe the wind management on a windshield doesn't suit you, or a seat is not as comfortable as you thought it would be, or a pair of gloves fits a little tight even though they are marked with your regular size. In exchange for that risk you are paying less than you would have if you had ordered new. In most cases savings in the classifieds approaches 50% from what I have seen. Like the recent $800 Staintune that sold for $400. Maybe it wasn't as loud as the buyer had hoped, (not saying that's the case here) but the buyer saved $400 to find out buying the item used instead of $800 to find out buying the item new. And he always has the option of listing the item for sale again and recovering all or most of his money.

I don't believe anyone here is out to rip another forum member off. I think in our recent case it was just a combination of a lack of details, which led to a suprise upon arrival.

In any case with any transaction, it is ultimately up to the buyer to make sure that the item for sale is indeed what he wants before sending the money, and up to the seller to disclose as much and as accurate of information as they can so the buyer can make that purchase feeling informed.

I've been a fan of the NC700 motor.
While it's not a powerhouse and lacks a 'soulful' exhaust note, I admire it for what it is:
A motor purpose designed to run with very good fuel economy and with enough tractable power to easily deal with traffic in the city and on the highways.

I could not bring myself to get an NC700 though because I already have a bike that I like that fulfills the 'run around' role, my CBR250R.

Enter the NM4. The weirdest, craziest looking production thing I've ever seen on 2 wheels. If there was a way that I could get one, I would. Had to be special ordered and it finally arrived this weekend.

Pictures don't really do it justice because depth perception is really required to make sense of it, especially the styling of the front end which looks so goofy in pictures.

The automatic DCT mode will be really handy when navigating congested traffic, a plus that I didn't really consider before getting it.

Where the DN-01 flopped, the NM4 has succeeded (IMHO), I've got to admire their persistence :-)

Has anyone else seen these photos yet? Do you know anything about this bike... could it be the next CB??? I couldn't find any articles to back the photos, but it sure looks production ready factory to me.
