Quick question, is this switchable on and off on either model?

Just wondering as I do have to take all my bikes on some gravelly roads from time to time and I'm guessing sudden brake application on loose traction surfaces could be interesting.

Anyone installed or is aware of a longer shift peg for the CB?
I looked at it, and to my surprise it seems to be one solid piece, shifter peg/shift arm. The shift peg on my Triumph can be unscrewed from the shift arm.

Today on my trip, stopped to get gas, and when I was done some dude comes walking out of the store snapping pics with his Iphone, at first I thought he was some freak taking pics of me, but quickly realized it was the bike he was interested in (whew).

"Nice bike! What year is that?"

"2014"

The look on his face was priceless, just stunned.

"Really? It looks like an old one"

"Yes sir, Honda brought these in starting in 2013 and after two years they quit bringing them in, you should be able to find one like this at a good deal"

"I had no idea Honda was building a bike like this"



This is the second time this has happened and I've only had the bike a month!

I think Honda could sell a bunch more if they tried a little harder....

I came up with an idea today to make riding the CB1100 more comfortable by using the wider foot pegs from a Goldwing instead of the tiny foot pegs which are stock on the CB1100. I guess I have a phobia about "riding the rear brake pedal" even though I had my brake lever bent. I still find myself pointing my right toe down as I ride and my fear is I"ll ride that darn brake pedal again. The Goldwing peg is about 3 times as wide which will give my foot a larger platform. It is a simple replacement. The most difficult part was getting the cotter pin out of the shaft to remove the pegs. Oh, I only spent about $53 to buy the rubber covers, mounting bars, the pegs themselves and the smaller mounting bolts. I bought the longer bolts and some brass sleeves for $7 at Lowes so as soon as my Honda parts come in, I'll install and maybe post a pic. If someone wants to get a headstart on this mod, look up GL1800 and locate the "Step" diagram on any site which sells OEM Honda parts. Or, perhaps someone who has installed after market platforms on their wing might still have their original pegs available. Since my CB1100 is new, I decided to spend a few dollars for new parts but that's just me.

Couldn't sleep. Talk of fading paint kept me up all night... this was in my dreams...

Met Earsonwheels early on Friday morning and rode out to Harrisonburg, VA for lunch with a moderately rowdy bunch of ADVRider types. Good time was had. The stock seat was good for about three hours, then it was not so much. On a seven hour ride, that's a lot of uncomfortable hours. A short stop now and again was a big help. Especially when there was ice cream Bikes performed as expected, and the sweet curves of Rt. 622 were especially good fun.
Forgot to take any photos, so I guess it never happened.

I am looking for some options for rear pegs for less vibration for my wife. Has anyone used wider or small floorboard pegs?

Just completed my first 300 mile trip and I must say it was quite enjoyable. At first I had some reservations about the location of the foot pegs, since all my other rides had further forward positions. I found the current location to be very comfortable over the long distance. The only thing that came to mind is that the six speed has a lot of close ratios and the bike pulls well in 5th & 6th even at low speeds.

Any day you can get vertical and ride your bike is a good day. Just love those 4 cylinders in line bikes.

As I prepare for a CB1100 probable purchase and try to do some basic research, I have encountered the warning "Don't park it in the sun" a few times.

I don't understand - what's the problem? Is there a weakness in the OEM paint?

I bought a 2013 CB1100 on Monday. Right now, it is at my parents' house in Ohio, and I plan on riding it back to my house in Missouri, but I need to carry some things for the trip. I'm currently looking at a soft luggage bag like a Kriega or someone similar that I can tie down to the seat. I haven't completely eliminated the rear luggage rack, but I'd rather spend the money on other gear and equipment. Can you recommend some soft luggage that I should look at? I'm thinking 20 liters at least, and 30 liters+ would be nice.

ETA: How are you guys tying your bag down? Nylon straps, bungee-type netting, something else?
