I currently own a Bonneville T100 and I would like to purchase a new CB1100 DLX. My only problem is that there are not any new DLX's at the dealers for sale. There are plenty of base CB1100 for sale at a good price. The base model is a great looking bike but it is missing ABS. My dilemma is do I wait and see if Honda releases a DLX in 2016 or do I make a great deal on a 2014 black model? If I wait until the 2016 models are announced I still would have a good chance of getting a 2014 black model but who knows. The black model looks like it has great braking ability with dual discs up front but is it as good as the DLX with ABS? I also own a 2013 Goldwing F6B and it has the linked braking system with no ABS and I find that sufficient. So can I get some feedback. Thanks.

Hey All,

I'm planning on fitting an Arrow Cat Free Exhaust, TSR Air Intake Funnel and TSR Air Funnel Kit, later this week. I have the parts and I'm just waiting on some Exhaust Gaskets.

I've got a couple of weeks off, the weathers fine and all the bits are in place, except I don't have a Workshop Manual. I've had the tank off a few times before and I know my way around a bike, I'm quite handy on the tools. I just wondered if anyone had done these mods or had the air box out at least, that could offer any tips or help.

I know the Air Funnel Kit will require some cutting and drilling. I think the TSR instructions should cover that. It's more the disassembly of the components.

I was going to use 'The Force' and I'm sure I'll muddle thru, but any advice I can get that will save some time, frustration or general bodgery would be appreciated.

I've tried getting hold of a Workshop Manual in the UK, but the dealers I've tried won't supply them. The only way is a purchase from the USA but it's not going to get here in time.... Or, if anyone knows of a PDF of the relevant sections online, then that would be cool.

I'll post the results of the mods when I get it dyno'd. I've got a PC V and a Flashed ECU so it should show a fair change when done. If anyone's interested I'll post pics of the Mod as I do it as well.

The bikes already had most of the cosmetics sorted with a White House K10 Kit and a few other bits and bobs, I'll post loads of pics when it's finished..... I know, it's never finished ;-) but it's getting there...

Look at the 30 second mark. This shows to be a 2015 model. Have others, maybe not-US models, had this before?

I can't stop looking at these bikes. I just bought an ATV and a CB1100 or I would have one.

A genuine Honda shop manual for 2013 models just listed on eBay for $20 (+$12 shipping), I already have one. Seems like a good deal if you need one.

It looks similar to what they use for ABS however, my 2014 standard does not come with ABS and yet I have one on my rear rim?

Just some more detail on the clipons:

They're just 41mm Woodcraft raised clip-ons.

Off the bat: These bars do hit the tank. I knew they would and don't really care -- I just put two small circles of 3M PPF where they hit, and I don't miss any of the steering I lost except for when literally walking the bike backwards out of my garage.

For me the ergonomics of adding these were awesome. I'm 6'4", and riding the CB with stock bars and no windscreen basically turned me into a sail. With these I end up semi tucked and perfectly streamlined behind the screen. In terms of weight on wrists and wind, it's basically like riding a very comfortable sportbike (think f4i or K5 GSXR 1k). You can still definitely out-ride the tank range with these and I can still do 7-800km day-trips no problem.

There is no cable rerouting required on the clutch side and only the front brake line needs to be adjusted (it looks weird in the one pic, but it's not pinched and not really more constrained than stock). The final nice thing is that you can fit the stock Honda vibration dampers and bar ends in these bars. Just clone the holes into the new bars and they press right in and work excellent. As seen in the pic, I have stock bar ends machined to accept CRG mirrors and they are the best I've ever had -- zero vibration at any speed.

This setup could likely be made to work without hitting. Woodcraft makes a 10mm adapter you can buy that would move the handlebars forward from their clamps. This would allow them to clear the pinch bolt on top of the tripple tree and be clocked farther forward. If you combined this with a higher riser (these are a 2", they also come in 2.5" and 3"), I would give you very good odds of clearing the tank. I have good macro photos of what I mean if anyone is interested or wants to try this.

Sorry bit of a rehash from a prior post with some rework.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I paid $1.69 for a litre of fuel and it started a bit of a discussion so humour me and read on, some of this is tongue in cheek no offence intended so my rant starts with changing stuff on your bike and changing to another bike.
My feeling is its cool to do what ever floats your boat and if you change stuff on your bike thats ok with me hey its your bike.
And I am not looking for a spray or response on what I am going to say but my feeling is this the amount of engineering that goes on prior to a bike leaving the factory is far beyond what I can get my head around so I just dont mess with it. If you dont like it and want another bike just move on open the wallet help simulate the world economy and continue the journey.
On another note on Sunday I'm planning to leave home on sunrise and ride to Phillip Island for lunch via Mirboo North ( coffee at the inline four cafe ). No doubt I will get home and have a sore arse and then bang on about my seat but I find it more economical to open a can of you know what.
Have good weekend its winter her at the southern latitudes and all the talk of hot weather is making me feel great. The ride when the days are short and the shadows are long is good for the soul.
And as I knock back another stubbie ( no tea tonight ) I'm thinking of a fuel fact from all those years ago. Those of you that like to record your fuel economy here is one for you. The Saturn 5 that took Neil and Buzz to the moon got seven inches to the gallon. But what a ride so who care about the milage. What a ride that would have been.
Spent some time cleaning the bike this week and discovered chrome in places not having displayed shine before.
