  Short but sweet
Posted by: Richard_imp - 07-14-2020, 03:00 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (35)

Well, my time with the CB1100 has turned out to be a short one. I purchased it in January but have decided to trade it for a Triumph already.

The main driver was ergonomics. For my frame, I just feel the bike is a bit small and I never got that comfortable on it. I thought about switching the seat pegs, seat, bars etc in an attempt to get it right but in the end I decided the Triumph was already 'right' so why bother. The fact the Triumph dealer offered me virtually all that I paid for the Honda swung the deal.

So, CB1100 out, Scrambler 1200 in.

I will continue to check into the forum as I enjoy the topics and the banter. I must say this is one of the most welcoming forums on the internet, too.

Goldwing style front suspension on future models?

https://www.cycleworld.com/story/bikes/g...re-hondas/

Partway down the article "The Wishbone-Equipped CB1100" ... not my CB1100 please.

I understand that its probably a more "retro" design (dawn of two wheel vehicles) but front struts are sexy Smile

  BMW R NineT /5
Posted by: LongRanger_imp - 07-13-2020, 12:34 PM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (11)

I'm not a huge fan of the R NineT but I was really drawn to this bike and wanted to like it, but I just can't. The more I stare at it, the more weird styling cues I notice. Is the front fender on backwards? And why is the tank so huge? Looks like a beluga. And why can't you buy a classic-design bike with a real rear fender?

Oh well, it's a nice shade of blue, and the hand-applied pin stripes are cool.

Has anyone ridden a Kawasaki Z900RS? What are you thoughts compared to the CB1100?

  The SMART KEY
Posted by: max - 07-12-2020, 05:28 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (16)

Yesterday was a nice sunny day for a ride and so i went to the local motorcycle hotspot, admired a new svartpilen 701 which looked very smart in it's new color scheme in the showroom whilst warming up in the sunlight with very little wind.

On the return trip i saw a new rocket 3 triumph and because it's a rear sight pulled up to the guy in the parking space to have a better look at it and have a chat; "mate you are so lucky to have one of those, the shop sold all of them" on which he replied " yeahh and it would be nice if it would start too ".
Turned out the bike had a " smart key" and whatever buttons he pushed the bike ignored him and played dead.
"That's the third time this happened" he said, "what happened the last time?" "it came right by itself" was the reply, so he decided to go for a walk and come back later and see if his luck had changed, he was otherwise praising the bike and offered " have a seat and see how light it feels",
I did and it did feel easy to lift off the sidestand so pleasant surprise there.

By the way the owner's manual is only 178 easy pages, we thought of everything..ROFL
So let's hear it for the smart key who thinks the owner is trying to steal his own bike, cool eh?

Hi everyone I’ve just done around 300miles on a new CB1100RSVand it vibrates quite a lot compared to mt CB1100EX from a few years back. Are there any trucks or remedies people have used to overcome wierd vibrations? Theyapoear at 2500 and 4000rpm are worse when its hot.
This bike vibrates like dog compared to my Suzuki GSXS1000 I’m sure its outa wack somewhere..

Best "Net Gain" CB11 Exhaust Option
Posted by: E11even_Hunnit - 07-11-2020, 02:37 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (18)

Which one is it?

I've looked lots of places, including overseas website in other languages, trying to find THE one.

My findings are, that on this particular platform, there seems to be those who swear by either slip-ons, or full systems. The 2 top names that seem to consistently surface are Moriwaki(full) or Staintune(Slip-on)

Provided that there is a component of "engine/fuel management" involved, what's the word/thoughts on the street?

Who takes the cake for the exhaust with most gains? Sound note aside that is, since that is rather subjective

Stock vacuum lovers need not apply to this topic ROFL

Power gains are at question here, not the reminiscing chromed out beauty that came from the factory Thumbs Up

Recently picked up a 2014 CB 1100, liking it a lot.

On occasion a negative symbol will appear when I'm down shifting, either when stopped or rolling to a stop. Manual says I'm down shifting improperly.
Any input?

  Before and After Part 2!
Posted by: gman_imp - 07-10-2020, 05:52 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (26)

As shown in my previous thread "Before and After" I took advantage of my spare time in March and April, and May, and June, and as of yesterday even July to make many modifications to my 2013 CB.

Now, lets hold a little contest and see which forum member is first to respond with the total number of items changed on the bike. Almost all of the ideas came from other forum members over the years that inspired me to make the changes.

Maybe we can get the "Ferret" to donate a set of "RLET's" to the winnerBeer

Pictures below show all of the changes if you have an eagle eye, the change to the Deluxe Exhaust was already posted before in pictures 1 and 2, so the count begins in pictures 3 thru 7. Let the fun begin.........................
Here are the last 2 pictures:
