Four members of our little motorcycle club and I started planning a fly-n-ride back in December 2019. We decided to ride southern Colorado since one of our members moved to Colorado Springs about a year ago and could be our tour planner and guide. The target date for the ride was mid-July 2020. Little did we know then that Covid-19 was looming on the horizon and would threaten to wreck the best-laid plans.

Thankfully, it didn't. We managed to sneak the ride in between waves of pandemic panic.

One of our riders is a pretty decent amateur graphic designer and came up with a new club sticker (on the left) and a ride T-shirt that included the new club logo.

The plan was to fly into Denver for the meet-up on Thursday, stay overnight in Denver to enjoy the city's amenities, then pick up the bikes on Friday and literally head for the hills.

I contacted LongRanger to see if we might also meet up sometime on Thursday, but as the date approached I realized that our Colorado Springs buddy had really missed us and everyone in the club was looking forward to hanging out with the old group vibe. So I got back in touch with LongRanger and he was - of course - very gracious about it and we agreed to meet each other another time. So, I still have something to look forward to next time I'm out in Colorado!

I've found multiple sources of info here on the accessory plugs for before '17 models, but not able to find much about the '17 model. So, here's some info and also a question.

The 2-pin (Bl/Br) red plug in the headlight area seems to be the same for the '17 model.




Need to order the 2-pin male side if you want to do a clean plug install. Available [url=http://www.cycleterminal.com/hm-sealed-series-090.html]here as are the necessary pins.

The under-seat accessory plug on the '17 model is different than the other years. First, it's a 4-pin plug (Gr/Y, R/G, G, Bl/Br). Second, it's not in the same protective boot as the rear turn signals/tail light connectors.



It's in the protective boot on the left side with the brown battery connector.

Here's my question. I believe the Bl/Br and G are hot/ground, but what are the other two (Gr/Y, R/G) wires for in this accessory plug? I only need the hot/ground and the plug itself should be switched, so can I just ignore those other two leads?

New to the CB1100, does this bike have an O-ring chain?

Picked up a 2014 CB1100 about a month ago, am in need of a service manual. Honda dealer carry them?

Has anyone run a bigger front tyre?
Noticed the Michelin PR4 has only one 18" and its a 120 not a 110

I removed my rear tire and had a new one installed. Now, I am having difficulty positioning the rear brake caliper onto the rotor, rear axle and frame. I do have the axle through the left side of the wheel, chain on the rear gear, but can't get the brake caliper positioned. Any easy pointers anyone?

Noticed the tread is getting low of my PR3's and I am starting to look at replacing them. I want some that will give me the same range that I got from them (close to 10,000 miles). I'd also like to know what different sizes people have used. Thanks guys.

I am thinking about picking up a CB1100. I just sold my BMW RT and don't want to live without side cases. I had a pair of Givi E21's on a previous Kawasaki Versys and they would be perfect on the CB1100. Does Givi make racks for a 2013 or 2014?

Sometimes it’s not about what you did on your CB, the photo you took and posted, your day’s ride or what you did on your other bike but what you did to help someone rejoin the sport.
A few weeks ago, I noticed on Facebook that one of my childhood riding buddies who had been living in Illinois recently moved to N.C. and obtained from his friend a bike in WV. He and I grew up about 200 yards from each other. We started out on Lil’ Indian mini-bikes (my father was once a dealer) and progressed from his Suzuki 50 and my Honda Trail 90 to a Suzuki 90 street/trail and Suzuki 125 respectively. I can’t imagine how many hours we spent in the woods behind our houses riding on old strip mine roads. He wrote in my middle school year book that I was a “Honda freak”. I took that as a compliment.
Anyway, I went on to college and he worked at a local funeral before attending seminary school. We kinda lost track over the years until Facebook came along and we reconnected. As I indicated earlier, he spent many years in Chicago area as a minister. I saw some of his posts where he was riding a late 90’s Honda Shadow A.C.E. 750 through the streets of Chicago . He gave this bike to a friend before moving to NC. Ironically, when I got back into cycling after a 10 year hiatus, I purchased the same bike but a different color.
When I saw his initial post about the bike in WV, he was looking for options to get it to N.C. He got several suggestions, such as renting a u-haul or hiring a shipping company. At that point, I curiously asked him what type of bike he purchased. Never got an answer. Time passed.
This past Saturday, I was at a mall in KY waiting on my wife. Got on facebook and messaged him again. He said he still hadn’t gotten it home. When I asked him where it was, he told me it was actually in a town about 30 miles from my house. I told him I’d get back with him shortly.
I called one of my current riding friends, one whom I’ve traveled to 47 states (we have both been to #48 - Texas, but not together) with and told him the situation. I asked what he was doing Tuesday. His response: “Road Trip!”. This same guy and I went to Rockingham to pick up 2 CB1100s in October 2016 and this past January to pick up an ‘18 Goldwing and my ‘19 Monkey.
I called my friend and told him to get it insured and we would bring it to him Tuesday. I told him I needed his address and the location of the bike. We figured we would load the bike Monday night and head out early Tuesday morning.
Sunday passed and no calls. I text him Monday before noon and he said he was still working on it. Monday evening came and no calls. Finally around 7, the owner called (they were actually old friends) and gave me the bike’s
location. It was actually 7.4 miles from my house! I called my riding buddy who lives about ten miles east of the bike. By 8:30 that night, we had the bike loaded. He took it back to his house.
At 5:00 the next morning, we took off to NC. Arrived in my buddy’s N.C. driveway 258 miles and 4.5 hours later.
Needless to say, my old riding buddy was elated when we arrived.
He’s had a history of health problems and is slated for a pacemaker today. His doctor told him he could ride it in the subdivision only until his health improved.
I text him on the way home and said sometime we will ride together again, but not on Suzuki dirt bikes. He responded: “I’ve eaten PLENTY of your dust and mud! We’ll make it asphalt this time”.

Like I said, “Sometimes it’s not about what you did on your CB, the photo you took and posted, your day’s ride or what you did on your other bike but what you did to help someone rejoin the sport”.

P.S. I told him to buy some riding gear...no shorts or loafers.

My local municipal recently painted a big road mark at traffic lights stop for motorcycles. After rain, these road mark are slippery. During ride off, my rear spin and skid. Sure scare the heck out of me...
Wonder if the ingredients for these marks are not up to standard... Anyway, my tyre is a T31 manufactured early 2019, with plenty of thread left (if memory serve me right, only used for 3000km since installed), I had rode about 7km before this traffic lights, so temperature should be up.
