Well, my time with the CB1100 has turned out to be a short one. I purchased it in January but have decided to trade it for a Triumph already.
The main driver was ergonomics. For my frame, I just feel the bike is a bit small and I never got that comfortable on it. I thought about switching the seat pegs, seat, bars etc in an attempt to get it right but in the end I decided the Triumph was already 'right' so why bother. The fact the Triumph dealer offered me virtually all that I paid for the Honda swung the deal.
So, CB1100 out, Scrambler 1200 in.

I will continue to check into the forum as I enjoy the topics and the banter. I must say this is one of the most welcoming forums on the internet, too.

I am also having issues with the ergonomics on the cb , been having hip pain when on the bike and also 2 days after just a 50 mile ride. I am 5’9” and 170 lbs, but 65 years old. Curious to you height? Are you able to flat foot on the triumph? I looked into the Honda ncx 750 but couldn’t throw a leg over the high tail section. I could flat foot it at stops. Also curious about the cbx 500.

Good looking bike Richard, I'm sure you are going to enjoy it. That's the 1200 model isn't it with high torque motor?
I've always thought the Cb was 750 sized, rather than 1100 sized, although they are building them all smaller these days it seems.
Obleo I have a CB 500X in the garage. It's actually pretty tall too. I might ride it later and pay attention to the ergos and tell you my opinion.

That Scrambler has a lot going for it . Not the least are it’s good looks. A Buddy has the smaller engine version and loves the bike. Very capable to play on in all but the roughest stuff. I’m STILL half heartedly looking for an ADV bike. The Scrambler could fill the bill if one could have a full set of aluminum luggage mounted to it.
CB not going anywhere. At 6 feet even, on long trips I too had the occasional hip/thigh cramp. Bought adjustable pegs. Dropped foot placement by 1.5 inches and in my case...problem solved.

Thanks ferret, my complaint is with my knees bent backwards putting pressure on my hips , been trying to find something light, but the foot pegs more forward . But not front foot controls like on a softail Harley . I don’t know if the triumph fits that quotient .I tried the mfw adjustable pegs but that was a waste of money, no help‘.Had set on the triumph bobber good fit - too much money for this retired guy.Also looking at the Indian FTR 1200 S , also$$$.

I am 6 foot - on a good day. I get aches in my knees and hips on the CB (and most other bikes tbh). The XC scrambler has a seat height of 840mm and I can easily flat foot it. My R1250GS is 870mm which is also okay for me, although I wish the pillion seat was not so stepped. The Scrambler has a bench seat, which makes it easier to throw a leg over.

That’s the one. The torque is a major attraction for me, as it suits the lazy rides I’ll use the bike for.

I am also 6 ft and using a high version of the Corbin seat and the Vario footpegs I can live with the ergo's for 90 minutes and than things start to hurt. At nearly 70 other parts start to hurt too but it is all doable.

Yep, it's all doable on the CB but I think I'm self-aware enough to know I'm using the ergonomic argument to justify the fact I fancy a new bike. I'm sure we all do it from time to time.
