There was a few posts a long time ago where somebody had mounted a video cam at the end of a 5ft long antenna or wire, at the back of the bike. When riding the cam/wire made slow, wide and sometimes wild swings in all directions. Some shots were really stunning.
Can't find this thread no more, at least not with a title search for cam, vid, or similar.

I am back on the road. I replaced my wrecked 2013 standard with another 2013 standard. The new one has a yoshimura muffler. I also have the stock one and want put it back on. Pretty straight forward job or more that meets the eye? I also would like original grips. Best place to get them? It idles high too but I'll start another thread for that.

Look I know I have posted this before but I haven't got anywhere with it. Is it too much to ask to be able to source a decent service manual for this bike so that we can actually do some of the maintenance ourselves like, and I'm sure the same applies to most of you on here, we used to years ago.

I have chased up a couple of leads but got nowhere. Why the heck Haynes have stopped doing some models of motorcycle is odd and annoying. Obviously i do not want to pay £100 odd for a manual that should cost £20-£30.

Simple jobs like removing the chain to clean it properly come up against snags if you do not have a manual and are not familiar with the motorcycle as there appears to be some kind of pump that needs removing before the front sprocket can be removed.

Like i have said, frustrating and it appears as sign of the times.

I changed the brake fluid on my 2014 CB1100 and the front brake lever has some travel but not as much as I think it should. It seems "tighter" than it should be.
Is that normal when put the fresh oil?
I checked the manual, which discusses the adjustment wheel (1-5) but this adjustment doesn't seem to help.
Any advice?

I understand the need for RLETs to make a bike whole, but am conflicted about getting them as I don't want to spend ~ $25 for a pair. This got me wondering if plasti-dip would suffice and if so would colors other than black be canon?

Hi, I picked up a 2014 recently with the full Yosh system and a PCV installed. O2 eliminator installed. Stock intake. After some research here and on the Dynojet site, I was able to download the PCV app and the 3 maps they supply to the pc. I was curious to learn what map was on the device. The bike seemed a bit off to me between 2-3000 rpm. So to my surprise when I opened the map loaded on the PCV and clicked on fuel the grid was all zeros. My guess was some po made some mistake and deleted whatever map was on it. At any rate, I managed to load the map for stock bike with Yosh slip on. The bike immediately ran smoother and more responsively than prior. All this leads to my question which is when comparing the “stock bike” map to the one with Yosh slip on, I was surprised to see the stock map had almost all positive values ( adding fuel, correct?) and the map for the slip on had significantly more negative values ( reducing fuel, correct?). It seemed counterintuitive to me that creating more airflow with less restrictive exhaust, resulted in less fuel rather than more in this map. I’m sure I’ll try the stock intake/ exhaust map at some point just to see if drivability or perceived responsiveness is affected, but would like to understand the difference in these maps/values and how “ less is more” as it were. Any comments?

Good evening all, I have got a question regarding the range on the CB 1100.

This is a mortorbike I have been looking to buy it for a while but I have just found out that a full tank only gives 170 miles, is this correct?

Specially when touring, I would hope for at least 200 miles per tankto avoid fuel anxiety and not keep woring about finding the next petrol station.

Sorry to create another thread about oil, but I have a serious question: Is there a check valve somewhere in the system that prevents the oil from draining out of the oil cooler and into the engine when the engine is turned off? For the second time now I have experienced a disturbing condition concerning the proper oil level in my bike. I created a post on this topic a few years back, but I never really got an answer that helped to resolve this issue. I checked the oil level in my bike prior to a ride last Sunday, and to my complete surprise the level was at the lower line. My bike had sat for two weeks without being ridden, so I believe that is plenty of time for the oil to flow into the crankcase to perform an inspection, and yes, the bike was on completely level ground. Just to be sure, I performed the oil inspection procedure defined in the owner's manual by starting the bike up, allowing it to run for about two minutes, shutting it off, waiting for the oil to drain back into the crankcase for a few minutes, then reexamining the level in the sightglass; I performed this twice. Each time the level actually was slightly lower than the lower line on the sightglass (if I waited longer it probably would have risen ever so slightly). I proceeded to very, very carefully add oil, a small amount at a time, starting the engine and performing the check oil procedure each time I added a small amount. After repeating this procedure three times I had the oil level exactly even to the top line on the sightglass (I added approximately 12 fl oz). I figured everything was Ok, and my wife and I went for a ride to visit Laguna Beach, via Ortega Highway, about a 140 mile round trip. When I got home I rechecked the oil level, and at this time it was so high the sightglass was completely filled. I performed the inspection with the bike on level ground, located in the exact same position it was in when I topped the level off prior to our ride. Does anybody have an explanation for why more oil drains into the crankcase at times, causing inconsistent oil level readings?

Just for fun (because of course our CB1100 is the best motorcycle and will last forever or at least until the end of our lives - and then some more), what bike would you buy next? A (younger) CB1100? Something completely different?

I am considering the new Moto Guzzi Mandello (if and when it finally comes to the market, and if it rides as nice as it looks), or maybe I'll move to the Dark Side and go electric.
Alternatively (also depending on my financial situation) I may get a nice secondhand bike. I like Yamaha's Tracer 9 GT, or (for short, nice rides) the XSR900.
Or (as I am not getting younger) I may buy something lightweight and fun - but beautiful, like the Royal Enfield Interceptor.

Would anybody happen to have taken a photo of the underside of an tank (EX / 2017 or later) ? A photo detailed enough to show the interfaces with the rest of the bike (mechanical, gasline, ...).

If so, would you please post it in high resolution and add the manufacturing year of your bike ?

The purpose of this is to find out if the tanks in years 2017, 2018 and 2019 have changed at all ...
