I just installed my new SW-Motech Saddle bags. The bags seem to be more designed around the DLX then the Standard but its still fine. The bags will most likely be used for commuting to and from work and most solo riding.

I do want to add more luggage and a passenger backrest for two up trips. At first I was planning on the Shadow sissy bad and a tail bag. But the idea of removing/adding that whole assembly every time kind of killed that idea. Now I am thinking a Givi SR1118 rack, which would give me back my rear grab bar when the box is off, and a Givi E300NT2 Monolock top case with the back rest.

I figured going with the SR1118 because its the rear rack that from what I can tell in pictures would interfere with the saddle bags the least. The bags sit pretty flush with the seat and don't leave a lot of room between the side caps.

As for the box, I'm really just guessing. I tend to not like big bulky things but at the same time, on longer trips more space then less is appreciated. Maybe a Givi V40NTA Monokey or a little larger would be better.

I am not very familiar with bike luggage so that's why I'm here asking you all. Opinions are welcome, what do you think?

I know there are existing threads discussing batteries, but I've created a new thread because I have questions that have not been addressed, and I am hoping that a newer thread will gain more attention, and responses.

I need to replace my battery, and my first choice is to purchase an OEM YUSA YTZ14S battery. I am researching prices on the internet, and the prices for this particular battery vary wildly! Ferret stated in another thread that he would only purchase a Honda, factory YUSA battery because non-Honda YUSA batteries are not manufactured to the same quality levels. Partzilla sells a Honda OEM battery for $230.10. But, they also sell the EXACT same YUSA battery with a Yamaha OEM number for $175.63. Why would this be?

Prices on Ebay vary from $120.00 (plus $16.00 S&H), to $265.95. Amazon has a YUSA YTZ14S battery listed for $160.00, with free shipping. Cyclegear sells this battery for $265.95.

I found a DieHard battery sold at Advance Auto Parts for $79.99! This battery has 500 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA), compared to the YUSA brand's 230 CCA, and it comes with a 90 day warranty. I read on another thread where someone had good results with a DieHard battery.

Can I please get some feedback / recommendations concerning which battery to purchase? Also, does anyone have any evidence that a non-Honda YUSA battery would not have the same quality as a Honda OEM YUSA battery?

Anyone think the car driver's insurance company will pay to fix this or total it? I can't find a 2013 standard on sale anywhere if they total it. Hope they settle on enough to buy a 2014. The rarity of our bikes does not make me feel good about this. I walked away banged up and sore and very thankful this was a short car I could fly over.

Yesterday I made a 475 mile round trip to pick up this 2014 California Custom 1400. I took it out for 50 miles or so when I got it back and the bike runs and sounds nice so I think I'm going to really enjoy it.
The California series consists of the Custom and Touring and I had been keeping an eye out for either. What I've gathered in researching these models is what differentiates a Custom from the California Touring is lower bars, no panniers, shield, or driving lights, different seat, and 1" longer travel shocks. I was looking for either but knew if I bought a Custom I'd have to factor in the cost of a shield and panniers, or on a Touring probably longer shocks. Also on either one I'd want slip-ons. The fact this Custom came with the bags, shield, and Agostini slip-ons was a big plus for me.

As far as condition it's not bad, I've not even washed it yet so it's dirty but it's been garage kept so no fading and there are no scuffs that I can see. The guy just never rode it much, he bought it new in 2016 and it only had 3,400 miles. I doubt it's been serviced since the initial 1,000 mile one. Oil looks used but fairly clean and the level is just below full. When I got it home I checked the tires before taking it out and they were almost flat at 15 psi.

You can see the brake fluid is dark so I'll plan on changing it along with the clutch fluid after I clean it up. The tires are original and look and feel good so I plan on running them this year even though they are 8 years old now. The rear is huge so I hate to see what a new set is going to cost but I'll probably install a new pair over Winter.

So some of you may or may not be aware that I've been poking around behind the scenes for a way to ensure that the CB1100 Forum keeps humming along for the foreseeable future. I started researching in my spare time the moment Guth made his announcement and let us all know that he needs to step away. Keep in mind as you read this that it may look like I don't have a lot to show for it but web administration is neither a hobby nor an occupation for me, so I'm learning as I go.

So far I've discovered that I can mirror the site using a bit of software called HTTrack, which will slowly run a deep dive down every single link on the forum to create a copy of every single page. This should manage to fully copy all the threads, posts, pictures, links, ect. that exist on the forum. My understanding from this point is that I should be able to purchase a web domain and upload the site as if it were my own. Putting aside that this is essentially an act of plagiarism, It may be the only way to preserve the forum in its current format with as little transitional pain as possible. Once an operational "mirror" of the CB1100 forum is up and running, the work begins to re-register all the accounts and get every user operating on the new site under their preferred username. This process is beyond my ken at this point, but my goal is to get there.

The first hiccup I encountered was the sheer size of the forum itself, which I underestimated when I began trying to mirror it with HTTrack. I just placed an order for a 2tb hard drive today, so as soon as that arrives I should I have all the space I need to 100% complete the mirror process and start experimenting with bringing the doppleganger site online.

Anyway, I'm leaving this information here so that people know I'm not resting on my laurels about this, and to create a space for anybody with Web Admin experience to drop their advice if they're feeling kind enough to help. As long as you keep it simple you shouldn't go over my head too far

I ride the CB1100 to work daily and I'm a bit of a stickler on keeping my bikes very nice. I'm not a fan of it sitting in the sun all day. I searched the forum but didn't really get any answers so what brand and size cover are you using and does it cover the bike to the ground? I've had bad experiences before trying to size a cover and either been too small or too large even going by the sizing charts. The bike sits in the shop when not ridden so doesn't have to necessarily be weather proof just want to keep the sun from beating on it for 8 hours a day while I'm at work.

Would anybody know if there is an aftermarket adapter to transform this Honda headlight connecter into an H4 or H7 connector?
