I am planning to retire at the end of this year and I am considering selling my 3 bikes (Road King, Multistrada and CB1100EX) and replacing them with an R1200 GS or an R1250 GS. My hope is to have time to actually do some trips and the GS seems like a really versatile bike. Sure, I could get a Harley Electra Glide or Road Glide, or a Honda Gold Wing, but those would mean that I will have less of an option to go off paved roads. I had a GS in the early 90s (a Bumblebee) and pretty much hated it, but that was a long time ago. It did not have enough power to get out of its own way, but I know that is far from the case now.

I wanted to post this up more so to keep track of the issue and my experience with it. I've read through a lot of the other posts and I'm pretty certain this falls into the future IACV replacement side.

The last few days have been getting colder on the trips to work in the morning. At first I chocked it up to normal choke functions of a FI bike. But after my testing today I don't think that is the case.

What would happen:
Upon cold start I would see a strong and steady 1500 rpm, kind of normal. After setting off, and the first few stop signs in the neighborhood, I would see the fully clutched in rpm dip to 1400rpm. Each time I let the clutch out (no forward engagement) I would see them raise to 2000rpm then right before forward engagement could be felt, they would drop down to 1000rpm and the bike would be moving like normal. (probably just normal operation up to this point)

After my 30 minute test loop, speeds around 55-80mph sandwiched in between 30mph neighborhood riding, and the bike was well and warm, I was still seeing the same strong 1500rpm idle when in Neutral and fully clutched in, accompanied with hanging revs (such as the "choke" is still engaged).

I went ahead and did the TPS reset, then restarted the now warm bike. The idle RPM was back at its 1100ish rpm mark. I did take a video of the IACV sound which I'll link here. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dzKTSILMQPA

Hopefully, this stays resolved, but from what I've read so far. I'm expecting it to return eventually and like I said above, an IACV replacement will be in my no longer warrantied future.

This is on a 2014 CB1100 with 16,66X miles on it. Everything has been maintained up to this point, even just did the spark plugs at 16k.

I'll be sure to keep this updated as it progresses.
I'm really trying to keep my head about this ATM. The CB is my only transportation since my truck's trans is now needing warranty work, and will be getting sold once its fixed again. All in hopes of getting something newer. So please pardon any scatterbrained shenanigans.

I had to browse quite a few threads before coming across some info regarding mirrors for a Shadow 750

Just as described, they are a perfect fit and the same length as the OE lolipops

I did a 120 miles on the bike this morning and they work beautifully with no vibration. Best part is they were only like $30 each........so thanks guys

As a new owner of a 2013 CB1100 Im looking for a windshield or even better a fairing that will work on this bike......maybe something that wraps around the headlight ??
Goggle has not lead me to much thats specific to this bike so I asking for suggestions that have worked for u guys ???

Well,we finally did made it and are in TX. This is my first post from there. We bought a great house in Azle, TX, near Eagle Mtn. Lake, which has a marina near the house. Our HOA provides us private access to the lake for a very small monthly fee. The riding around here is hot now, 95+ degrees every day, but early morning rides thru the countryside are great. We had to get 4 Pods to get our stuff here, and I put the CB into one of them and moved it with no issues. Now to put everything away....

I drove through heavy rain on my way back to Cleveland from the east coast rally, and coated every nook and cranny with highway grime. I swore I would wash it thoroughly(ish) before cooking the grime onto the shiny, and with my girlfriend gone for work this week and nothing else to do, I finally did! I think I need to buy some special washing implements… man are there a lot of annoying crevices.

With that done, I finally installed my new tail carrier. Massive thanks to [mention]stopher50 [/mention]for passing that on me, I love how it looks! It fixes what I personally feel to be the least attractive part of the bike - the massive chrome rear fender assembly drooping off the tail.

Anyway! With the bike gleaming and some beautiful clouds rolling in over the lake, I set out to get a glamour shot. I hope I can get out again this weekend, as the wind is blowing fall into my area today!

It is somewhat in the price range of a Corbin seat, but maybe with a little more storage utility (?).

Haven't been here much in the last week or so. Wife and I just returned from a 11 day, 4700 mile 10 states ,4 National Parks, and several signicant roads out west tour. We hit Wind Cave Natl Park in SD, Yellowstone Natl Park in Montana/Wyo , Grand Teton Natl Park in Wyoming, and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. We drove Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, Beartooth Pass, and Chief Joseph Highway. We drove more states Scenic Byways than you can shake a stick at lol. These are all wonderful places to ride a motorcycle. We saw more Harley's than you could count. American Iron is alive and well in the American west. Saw a fair amount of BMW GS's as well. Even a few KTMs. Seems it was either a cruiser or an ADV bike, but the vast majority were cruisers. The Big 4 Japanese brands were poorly represented from what we could see. A smattering of Gold Wings, a lot of those triked.

It seems hotel internet connectivity is sketchy in a lot of places, especially at Quality Inns it seemed.

I made sure to take a motorcycle ride the morning before we took off and tonight an hour after we got back, so I only missed 9 days of riding, but I can tell you tonights ride although short, was euphoric.

It's good to be home.

Okay, yes, I first did a search and found several threads from lonnnnnnnng ago discussing mpg, but not what I'm looking for specifically.

I had to have my fuel pump replaced this spring (long story) and the mechanic couldn't get the fuel gauge working properly. (He's going to give it another go this winter for me.) So I'm using that wonderful old-school method of resetting the trip meter every fill up. I also check my mpg and it's always right about 50 mpg exactly.

But not really knowing when that tiny little tank will run dry, I am filling up about every 125 miles or so.

So, all this to ask: Have you ever ran your tank to empty, or almost? How many miles did it take? I'd like to go longer than 125 mile fillups but still be sure I'm not going to sputter to the side of the road.

I have a 2013. Yep. It is almost 10 years old. I have not done any maintenance on the front forks, yet.

Attributes that lead me look into rear shocks.
While riding the CB1100, I have been taking punishment through the seat. Indiana roads are not maintained well. Pot holes, swells, expansion joints ... you name it. The CB is delivering serious jolts into me. I replaced the seat a few years ago for 2 reasons. 1) to raise my seated position, straightening my legs a bit, and 2) to help provide more posterior cushion. The stock shocks have a rebound adjustment with a spanner wrench. I have the shocks set to the best I can achieve. If I go too loose, the bike seems to bottom out with ease. This causes the seat hit me very hard. If I tighten it up, the bike bounces and lands very roughly. Not really absorbing anything, but again delivering a hard smack through the seat.

Looking into options, I could not justify Ohlins prices. Ikon seems manageable but still risky if I do not like them. I stumbled upon the Hagon. For the price of $180US shipped, I was willing to take a chance on them.

I took the CB out for a 20mile loop including city and highway with the stock shocks. This was for a baseline comparison before the switch. The ride was just as rough as I remember.

Hagon shocks came preloaded for my weight. When I ordered them, I did tell them my true weight. 220lbs. They came well packaged, including a spanner wrench and 2 stickers. The top hats on the Hagons are smaller, being a smaller diameter. The shock body is also a different color from stock. There is an adjustable nut on the bottom, but I did not mess with it at any point. I left it set for my weight. I pulled 1 shock off, expecting to replace one side at a time. When I removed the 1st stock shock, the bike dropped to a point, I could not install the new Hagon. I could not compress the new shock enough by hand to get it onto the mounting points. I had to set a floor jack under the bike and raise it a little. Sprayed the posts with windex, new shock slid right on with ease.

Test Ride with new Hagon shocks. 20 mile loop starts off at a large round about. Indiana has 11 turns in 318 miles, so I had to be creative. I could not feel any difference with the bike leaned over. Everything was as it should. No complaints. Heading through the city going towards the interstate, the roads have man hole covers, and some serious swells. Rolling over man hole covers was indeed smoother. Going over the swells, was also improved. I could fell the front end compressing fast and hitting hard, but as the rear tire went over the swell, it did just that. It rolled over the swell. I did not feel like I was on a motocross track getting air over a jump. Interstate expansion joints were the same. My impression is the front end is compressing too much too fast, but the rear rolled over the bumps. Compression and rebound in the rear, feel well managed and under control. It did highlight that the front end is needing some attention now.

My honest opinion: For the price, the Hagon shocks are a nice replacement to a factory ride. I do not feel they are a performance upgrade, but they are getting the bike back to a factory smooth ride. I am pleased with them, and wish I would have purchased them sooner.
