Gentlemen,
Like most of the enthusiasts here, I enjoy buying a new motorcycle, but the process of setting it up so that it suits me is even more fun. Here's a few photos of my CB11 as I photographed it this morning after taking it out of my living room where I worked on it last night and before putting it back into the garage. My first modifications were to rotate the bars slightly forward in the mounts, angle the clutch and brake levers down just slightly, adjust the foot brake and shift levers to suit me, and the elimination of the bulky rear license plate bracket with a new one that I made myself. I replaced the stock seat with the genuine leather seat I had made to my specs by Corbin, replace the stock silencer with a Staintune, replaced the meager factory toolkit with a more complete toolkit under the seat. I have four different sets of handlebars that I'll be trying out one by one to make a selection. Last night I installed a Road Comet faring painted silver to match my side panels. I really, really like the way that faring looks. It went on quickly and easily with quality hardware and everything aligned perfectly. I removed the reflectors from the front fork legs. The next thing I want to attack is the unsightly catalytic converter. I don't know if it's possible to make a stainless heatshield that would cover the collector and the converter or if I'll have a new collector built without a converter but with a bung so the O2 sensor could be hooked up. I'll figure it out. The rest of the bike is so finely detailed and most pleasant to look at with the exception of that collector and converter that looks like it was cobbed together at the last minute with its unsightly welds and odd combination of shapes.
I really like this bike, the way it rides and runs, but especially the way it makes me feel when I roll it out of the garage. All the best.
Chip

Funny thing is I HATED the look at first, then I saw a mock up of a cafe'd out CB and it... well....worked!
stock = looks awful. lol can't stand it!!!!
chopped, modded, cafe'd = (can't believe I'm saying this) it looks....good!
so this weekend I get my new bars on, rear fender removed, the slip on, and some other odds and ends done. I'll post pics soon as I'm done!
* what I mean by stock is if the slip on is the only mod on the bike

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a non ABS CB1100.
I was dead set on only purchasing an ABS model. All of my last few bikes have had ABS and I have become lazy and spoiled.
In May when I was on vacation in Thailand I was able to ride several different Harley's that did not have ABS. I locked up the brakes more times than I would like to admit.
This had never been a problem until I had ABS brakes on my motorcycles.
I still might wait for an ABS model, but have not completely made up my mind yet.

Has anyone given this any thought? Fairing and nice hard bags?
I need something more comfortable than my Fury and have given thought to setting up the CB for such. Has anyone seen any aftermarket parts that would work .... or is it just too early?

Saw 2 other CB 1100 today... one on 80 north just south of the BRP with a grou-p of bikes
the other parked with a scooter in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn in Maggie Valley. Has Georgia plates on it. Thought it might be GCarper, but there is no G Carper registered at the Comfort Inn.
Anyhow let a note on the seat referencing the CB1100forum.com just in case.
ride is going good. 10 hours/475 miles Monday. 10 hours 314 miles on the reduced speed BRP. Needs a shield on the freeway. needs a better seat no matter where you are if you are going to spend 10 hours in a row sitting on it lol.
weather has been great if not a little hot down on the flats. brp is closed between Mt Mitchell and Ashville.Cool on mountain top.Lotsa critters out first thing in the AM. Almost hit deer, turkeys, rabbits and did hit a snake...a big ol snake. Lots of pics to post when I get home in a few days.
