  Test Ride/ Wrist Pain
Posted by: Kung Fu Joe_imp - 06-19-2015, 12:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

I took a test ride on a 2014 STD a couple of days ago with the intention of riding home on it... The bike felt like a good fit sitting on it. But once I took it out my wrist were extremely uncomfortable... Immediately. I tried relaxing them, loosing my grip, taking pressure off my arms, nothing helped.

When I returned to the dealership, I parked it next to my current ride to try to evaluate what was going wrong... I noticed that on my bike the top of my hand ran parallel with my forearm, with no bent in the wrist. On the CB 1100 my wrist were turned, knuckles to the sky. This seemed to be putting a lot of pressure on my outer wrists. I also noticed that the grips on my current bike (VTX 1300C) were much thicker in diameter than those on the CB 1100.

I'm 6'3, 225 lbs with long arms. Like a monkey Smile

This was on Weds... I can still feel an ache in my wrists after a 15-20 minute ride. I have no history of wrist pain or injuries.

I was thinking that pushing the bars forward might correct the situation... But I am not sure. The bars didn't really feel too low, but the bend in my wrist seemed to indicate that they were too close.

Has anyone had similar experiences on the CB 1100? Is this correctable? Am I just too tall for it?

I really like the bike and I had every intention of buying it. I will bad if I don't buy it after they let me ride it... I'm sure they would readjust the bars and let me try it again... But I wanted to ask your opinions first.

4-4 Exhaust Systems: Wyvern vs Endurance
Posted by: M3-SRT8_imp - 06-18-2015, 09:18 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (17)

Anybody in here have any experience with these 4-4 aftermarket exhaust systems? I love the "stock" cb750 look.

They both look fine on their websites, but I wonder which one looks better, sounds better, is built/finished better, installs better, yada yada yada.

Opinions? Thanks.

  Dealers - TradeIn Value?

What do the dealers use to determine the TradeIn Value? I read somewhere about a blackbook - But looks like it is subscription only.

Grip won't stick to new knurled Renthal bar
Posted by: Ferrealls_imp - 06-18-2015, 01:59 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (6)

I put on some new Renthal ultra-lows. The left hand grip of the bars is knurled unlike the OEM bars. I can't for the life of me get the grips to stick to the knurling. I've tried WD-40, isopropyl, hair spray, silicone and last night I even broke down and used super glue. Still won't stick. It's driving me slowly insane. Anyone have any suggestions?

Allen Head Size for Rear Rack Install?
Posted by: widude - 06-18-2015, 01:51 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (6)

Hey, My new rack comes today. I just did some checking, the 6mm is to small, the 7mm to big. Are those rear allen heads 6.5mm or so? The ones that need to come off to install the rack.

I may have to do a tool run anyway later, just thought I would ask here before I ride to the tool shop and see what fits.

Since they may be tight, I may need a head that will attach to my socket wrench? Thanks.

  Leftover 2013s and 14s
Posted by: BearChicken_imp - 06-18-2015, 01:39 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I am seriously considering a new bike. I prefer a sporty standard with a neutral riding position. The CB1100 and Triumph Bonneville (17" wheels) top my list. Is price the only compelling reason to pick up '13 vs '14 CB ? I appreciate your input and this forum as a resource.

  VENDOR / COMPANY LINKS
Posted by: metalmaven_imp - 06-18-2015, 12:49 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (11)

I thought it would be real handy for us all if there was a thread that specifically had links to websites or stores that we have found that carry parts or accessories for our wonderful CB1100.

I have heard a few over the months I have been here, webike, samurider etc... Please post the link to your favorite store or site or direct product link to a seat or exhaust or mirrors or o2 eliminator or whatever. It would be great to have one thread we could go to and have access to all this stuff with out hunting thread after thread.. Wouldn't it..? Biker

Here's the Driven Sprocket and Slider. Chain - go X or O-ring?
Posted by: Pterodactyl_imp - 06-17-2015, 06:31 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (29)

Pulled the rear wheel off, broke the chain and removed the driven sprocket. I also removed the chain slider for inspection. With the drive sprocket removed, the chain off and rear wheel removed the chain slider was readily removed without removing the swing arm as recommended by the service manual.

Similar to the drive sprocket the driven sprocket is in reasonable, but worn, condition. As I had reached the limit of chain adjustment and still had over 40mm of chain slack that would indicate the chain was well and truly ....um .....er...., well, at the end of its life. The chain was also very noisy, sort of "graunching" noises when not under high load. I'm wondering whether to replace the chain with the DID or RK O-ring chain specified in the manual (mine was a DID) or go to an X-ring. The X-ring being about 75% more expensive. Anyone got any ideas?

The chain slider still had plenty of meat on it. It will go back on.

Posted by: chienhyu_imp - 06-17-2015, 01:20 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (42)

Hi,

Does anyone can share information about headlight grill for CB1100?
I am looking for the grill which can be install on the CB1100 without any modification since I am from oversea and there will be a issue if the grill can't fit on CB1100 exactly.
