First Ride New to Me 2013
Posted by: glenncal1_imp - 04-25-2018, 11:32 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Why didn't you guys tell me sooner about about how nice these bikes ride, I would have bought one sooner. Took about a 25 mile ride today and really loved the bike, want to get the oil changed (filters should be here tomorrow) before I do any longer rides. Came home and immedeatly took off the windscreen. It had the wind hitting me right in the helmet. Never rode FI bike before. Made my Nighthawk feel ancient. Happy camper here. Beer

COTA - Fun Times in Texas
Posted by: DAC - 04-25-2018, 10:05 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (4)

So, the wife and the daughter and I made the pilgrimage from central Ohio to Austin, Texas to see the Circuit of the Americas installment of the MotoGP traveling circus. It was a welcome respite from the wintry weather that still seemed to have it's grip on the midwest. A long drive but with the two favorite women my life, it was a good time - plus books on CD help too.

The daughter and I enjoyed COTA. The wife enjoyed local antique shopping.

Anyway, not to be too wordy, some quick pics:

Is it sacrilege to wear a Honda shirt while trying out the new Panigale V4?

What's his name giving a little interview in the Honda tent:

Race day! Some quality father/daughter time.

And we got to see Marc win - after yet another penalty. All in all, a great weekend. If you get the chance to take in this race sometime, I recommend it. A beautiful track and a well run event.

  2017 CB1100EX license plate bracket
Posted by: kennyw - 04-25-2018, 05:39 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (64)

I just placed an order for 10 license plate brackets. I figured if I make one, someone else would want one as well. I'm also including the dimensions if someone wants to make their own.

My cost is $15 each plus shipping. Anyone want one?

  Bike is home
Posted by: glenncal1_imp - 04-24-2018, 08:52 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (12)

My new to me 2013 came home last night. Bike has 2,600 miles on the clock but hasn't been ridden much the last couple years as the owner had health problems preventing him from riding.

Here are my maintenance plans:

1. Change oil and filter, hasn't been done since 600 mile change.

2. Change air filter. Colorado is a dusty climate and even though bike has been stored inside I figure it is cheap.

3. Service chain.

4. Check tires (they are in good shape externally).

5. Check all fluid levels.

6. Clean battery terminals if needed.

Anything I am missing? Thanks Jim

  misfire under light load?
Posted by: max - 04-24-2018, 06:47 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (3)

Although i have not seen the bike ( 2014 cb1100 ) in question it apparently adopted this misfire under light load ( driving sedately ).

is it possible that one or both cams are out by some teeth?

All i know is the bike apparently has had it's first service ( valves etc ) done recently.

So before i go and have a look i was wondering if anyone had a similar experience on any type of bike with this symptom.

Thanks max.

  GP Short pipe on a 2014 CB1100?
Posted by: JohnHighlander_imp - 04-24-2018, 01:46 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (20)

Forgive my ignorance but would I need a pc5 if I remove the OEM Exhaust on my 2014 CB1100 and replace it with a GP style exhaust? Long story short, my bike is so quiet that I've already had over 4 people merge over on me since I bought the bike (3 days ago)...never had that issue with my R1 which had a louder exhaust.
I personally like the GP short pipes... they look sleek imho and are minimalist...which I'm also a fan of. Thoughts?

What does the hive mind think of the Yoshimura RS3?
Posted by: misterprofessionality - 04-24-2018, 11:43 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (19)

Just an opinion poll. i see the CB11 pictured with it fitted quite a lot, but i'm not sure if it's actually a good choice. It's one of the more base-heavy exhausts i've heard on the internet, but I personally am having a hard time stomaching the way it looks. What's everybody else's thoughts?

  CB1100 mods... so far
Posted by: Hondakid_imp - 04-24-2018, 11:34 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

I received a givi rack today and installed it. Went on ok, had to drill out one of the holes in the rack by 1mm though. I'd have been angry if I didn't have a good drill bit handy that was just the right size.

So with that on my 2014 std I have:
RS3 slip on
Streetshield EX windshield
SW Motech black crash bars
Grip puppies
Givi rear rack

Upcoming I am thinking seat comfort. Got plenty of good research on these forums to browse through!

KandH Low Seat & Dart Pirrana Flyscreen
Posted by: Mandrau_imp - 04-24-2018, 09:44 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Got the seat from Samurider over the winter and it fit nicely. A bit wider than the stock seat so even though it is lower my feet are roughly the same on the ground. Short ride around town and it is very comfortable. You can tell right away the foam in the saddle is superior.

The piranna flyscreen is just that. I had a Slip Streamer screen which was handle bar mounted on the bike before and although it relieved wind pressure to the torso, it created some turbulence and noise to the head. Today around town it was nice to be in clean, quiet wind again. Need to test it on the freeway.

(Sorry if this isn't the section it should be, please move the post to the correct section if it's the case).

I'm having a problem login in to the forum from my mobile phone. The user and password is the same I use in my computer, but keeps sending me to this screen and the captcha function is not working. See image. Any of the moderators can help me? Thanks Thumbs Up
