What changes were made to the 2017 model versus the 2013/14 models? I know the tank, headlight, tail lights and wheels are different. Any mechanical differences in the engine or transmission?

First post here, I found the site through Youtube. I checked out Memphis Mikes oil change video since my 600miles are coming up soon. I've never worked on a car or bike but his video made it seem simple enough for me to try. I found this kit online but I'm not sure if this is the correct things to use? If it is, I just need to buy the oil , drain pan, & funnel and I should be good to go.

I did search this forum for the "600 mile DIY" the pictures are all gone =\ .

Sorry in advance for the nooby question. This is my second bike and I'd like to learn how to work on it myself, or at least don an oil change haha.

Hi, how’s this deal sound? A New Hampshire dealer has a new 2014 CB for 6500.00 The dealer will give Me 3100.00 for My 2013 NC 700 x and 4000.00 cash will get a new CB 1100. That’s 600.00 in fees and My NC has 9000 miles and is in good condition. What does the brain trust of the CB community think of this deal? Thanks

Since I traded a 2013 CB1100 in on the new EX I have a few modifications that were removed to use on the 2017. I am starting with checking compatibility of the old parts at first.

First up was the Corbin seat. Fits perfectly with a small gap at the tank. Barely noticeable unless you know to look. The wide seat actually matches the lines of the 2017 better than the 2013.





Second the Emgo Venom fairing. I have only placed it on the headlight bucket without installing bolts so far but the fit looks better than the 2013. With no trimming needed. I may but down a new one since I trimmed this one to fit a 2013.


Next up the license plate bracket. I have a metalmaven license plate bracket that was used on my 2013 but found it would not be the best fit for the 2017. First it needs spacers to move away from the taillight housing. Then there is a third bolt hole in the lower fender to deal with that is not covered by the bracket. My solution is to make a new plate with the three mounting bolt holes.

I want to take off the rear indicators to change the grab rail but can't find where the indicator connections are. I have looked under the seat where I thought the connectors would be but can't see anything.

Can anyone help please?

I feel certain i've seen a picture or two of a CB11 with a stone guard cage over the head lamp, but the only ones i'm turning up online are for Bonnevilles. Does anybody know of a manufacturer that makes one fittable on the CB11 or is it just about making a bonne guard fit?

2013 Honda CB1100

Pulled in to get gas with last bar blinking

It was showing 39 miles remaining



Toggled to B and it said I had gone 207.3 miles on this tank



toggled again it said I averaged 55.8 mpg on this tank



toggled again and it said I had used 3.7 gals gas



filled it up as normal to the bottom of the neck



turned around and checked the pump and I had put in 3.69 gallons of gas



With calculator 207.3 miles divided by 3.69 gals = 56.1 mpg (computer said 55.8)
Fuel pump said I filled up with 3.69 gallons of gas (computer said I used 3.7)

That's pretty darn accurate if you ask me

(still had approx .9 gallon of gas in the tank I am assuming for a 4.6 gallon tank or about 49 miles at 55 mpg... computer said 39 miles left)

What is that like?

I wanted my next ride to have abs. Now it does. 14dlx.

If I have to brake hard what am I going to experience in the feel of how the bike responds?

I understand that with abs - a caliper will brake and release faster and without panic than the human brain thereby preventing a lock up of the brakes and a skid. Without it I'm not that good...

I'm wondering if I grab a handful of brake, is the bike going to stop with me on it or is the force going to pitch me forward anyway. I'm guessing no cause we are braking not sliding. But that is going to be some fast stopping I reckon.

I've been riding a 35yo bike of late. The brakes on it were nothing compared to "modern" brakes let ones that had ABS.

With the traffic and drivers around here....It isn't inevitable I have to go into abs mode but the chances are greater imho. It has changed in the last 5 yrs even. I am not under an illusion abs is going to protect me or reduce the risk. Its only another tool in the box as it were along with good gear, skills, judgement etc. etc.


Have you used your ABS and were glad you had it?

I've been reading a bit about Bar End mirrors and their advantages, such as seeing farther out around the bike with ease, or not seeing your own elbows in the mirrors, and i've read about some of the disadvantages, such as Vibration, but i haven't really found anything in the context of the CB1100 specifically. Given the bar position of the stock CB1100, do Bar End mirrors make any sense? I'm not totally unhappy with the OEM mirros, but i'm just curious to discover whether it's a worthwhile pursuit to do something different. I'm in Traffic every day, and if there's a way to make my lane changes safer and more seamlessly, I want to know about it.
